1) Index inclusion (use sitemaps if necessary to make sure the robots find pages)
2) Linking from reputable sites (leverage PageRank by having pages linked to by sites that are topically relevant (SEO theming) and reputable. Linkage from a .edu is golden, for example. Search google for "buy viagra": I'm pretty sure a lot of the top sites are hacked or personal pages from .edu domains.)
3) Accurate content/keywords (make sure that text on the page to be included in the index targets exactly what you want users to find. Adjust page title to target desirable keywords, and don't forget that even words in the URL are respected for keywords.) - chrisrbennett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0some good things to note in say, google analytics. I think SEO is of particular importance here; I'd say that # of visitors per keyword should be included.
