- speel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the hell .. almost none of these are free
- dbarbour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah.. I'm not a big fan of eBooks. I appreciate what they were created for and would use them for technical reference materials, but if I were going to read Great Expectations, I would much rather have a paper copy. I find it more enjoyable and easier on my eyes.
- smithco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It seems that many of the books selected come from the University of Virginia's public ebook archive. It is worth pointing out that that archive is over 2100 free ebooks, so there's some more goodies there.

But overall, its nice to be able to use this to search across several sources. - Gnomelord, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2gutenberg.org

- theantidote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You gotta click on the big Msoft logo on the left side of the eBook's info page.
- jiub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't stand reading books off of a screen but it's nice to know they're there if I ever need a passage for a report.
+digg - ColdChilli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not all of the books are Free. They're links to Amazon etc..
- tarun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have to commend MS for their Reader software. It's pretty nice--of course not available on Palm, but it's got highlighting and annotating functions and if you download their free dictionary you can even lookup words from the context menu.
- tarun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And to think my PocketPC saw its last just a couple of weeks ago. Sigh.

- OrangeTide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So how do I read these LIT files? I totally don't get it. Is this some Windows only file format or something?
- mediaphile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i remember they released michael crichton's "timeline" as a free e-book back in the day. no longer available as free, but that was an awesome book. i found reading it on my pocket pc to be great. they really put a lot of design thought into it, and the cleartype that they used on the PPC is a lot better than the cleartype on windows. it really makes the text stand out, and it doesn't hurt your eyes to read for hours. plus, you can read at night with the screen's backlighting. and as someone above mentioned, if you have the pocket dictionary ebook installed as well, it automatically enables looking up words just by tapping them. great for school books if you can find them, you can make all the notes, drawings, and bookmarks you want. far better than a simple txt or pdf ebook.
