- DanAtkinson, on 06/04/2009, -0/+11There it is, Miss Universe. There it is, looking weird.
- ripple123, on 06/04/2009, -0/+6i think there to drain the hydrazine manuvering thruster fuel or something.
- inactive, on 06/04/2009, -0/+4As opposed to transporters, space elevators, the gelatinous pod doo-hickey from Galaxy Quest?

- samard2002, on 06/04/2009, -1/+4That's a dilithium crystal tube.
Just kidding. They're actually just ropes. They are there to reel her in if she gets to buckin'. - windmarble, on 06/04/2009, -0/+3How cool would it be to ride in the shuttle. I think that would be even better.
- Tyrghast, on 06/04/2009, -0/+3Autobots! Roll out!
- BlazeSquall, on 06/04/2009, -0/+3See.. now you made me go research it.

I would imagine you probably think you car engine cools instantly too after shutting off the engine. - DirtPile, on 06/04/2009, -0/+3In space, no one can hear you sleep.
- alienpunk778, on 06/04/2009, -0/+3Did anyone else notice the passenger in the white shirt, inside the blue support vehicle on the left, looks like he is sleeping..?
- Volatile36, on 06/04/2009, -0/+2Did you notice the gangster leaner in the Taurus?
- Pasqualz, on 06/04/2009, -0/+2How cool would it be to be one of those people riding in the support vehicles? Very cool indeed!
- spish, on 06/04/2009, -0/+2Does anyone know the purpose of the umbilical's that are connected to each side of the orbiter and then to the trucks? If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say the right side is to provide power, or maybe sanitation processing, and the left (the large ones) are fuel processing?
- shiddysmurf, on 06/04/2009, -0/+2Look at the guy in the passenger seat in the fuel truck on the left. (looks like a fuel truck, i'm probably wrong) He's working hard.
- ripple123, on 06/04/2009, -1/+2i think you found wally.
- DirtPile, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1Where does Atlantis park? Anywhere she wants.
- spish, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1that makes sense. hydrazine is nasty stuff! wouldn't want to open the oil plug and let 'er drain out...
- punkcat, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1the space shuttle is apparently not very convenient, and rockets were always the way to go for payload/$$.
shuttle from i've heard people say has more PR value in that it looks like a freaking spaceship. - BlazeSquall, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1I doubt any part of her is 20 years old now.
- defektiv, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1Space. We're coming for you.. again.
- walgman, on 06/04/2009, -2/+3Strange how the future of space travel is back with the rocket.
- samard2002, on 06/04/2009, -1/+2Don't be a hater. The shuttle is the workhorse of the global space program. The capsule rockets mainly just trade out the people.
- gweedo767, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1I think you mean Capsule...
- manofaction, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1Interesting how the entourage partially consists of two older vehicles...I guess why should NASA replace it if it still works!
- memper, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1I like that he original choices for vehicles were right and continue to perform. This should be seen as a measure of the logistical planning success of the shuttle program all the way back to the 60s, not an indictment of today's budget or management.
- pileopooh, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1AMERICA...***** YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- stayputnik, on 06/04/2009, -1/+2dugg for Zap Branigan.
- dracoregis, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1Its much bigger than you think it is,
- logotype702, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1is that what you told her...?
- dixieleopard, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1perfect
- DecoyQ, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1well played, the only dugg transformers reference.
- user24, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1buried for misspelling "ZapP BranNigan".
:-P - thatsiebguy, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1Cool, now we get to see her piggyback NASA's 747 back to FL.
- inactive, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1IT'S A ***** SPAAAAAACESHIP.
- Wakkyweed, on 06/04/2009, -1/+2The shuttle is a white elephant. When are we going to get a real space program?
- offrdbandit, on 06/04/2009, -1/+1It's interesting the support vehicles are all old. It makes sense NASA wouldn't be wasting money on unnecessary vehicles, but it's still an interesting mixture of old and new.
- DecoyQ, on 06/04/2009, -1/+1Is it me or does this look like a still photo from a future Transformers movie?
*cue the Autobots score... now. - tinydoc, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0Is that Michael Bluth following in that stair truck on the far left? Maybe this is a scene from the new movie.... <crosses fingers>
- Kancer978, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0Only two older vehicles? The Ford truck on the left is 70s from the grill and round headlights, the middle dodge camper(might be 60s..) and the R model Mack is a tough call 40 years from '66 on but I'm guessing late 70s.
- radiofan, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0The shuttle is great for transporting and reparing things in earth orbit but it cant go beyond there. To go back to the moon or on to Mars, it's bad to the capsule.
- BlazeSquall, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0I believe they're actually for supplemental cooling of the systems that keep things cozy during re-entry.
- torgo112, on 06/04/2009, -2/+2Except for Chuck Norris, of course.
- wesleyzero, on 06/04/2009, -3/+3Entourage? This photo needs more Turtle.
- Kwake, on 06/04/2009, -2/+2Looks like Transformers 3 to me
- RPinAL, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0How cool is that, it's escorted by the EM-50 Urban Assult Vehicle from "Stripes". Like the new White Paintjob, very discreet to hide the flame thrower.
- logotype702, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0..during re-entry....
do they need to keep it cozy while they are just moving it? I assume there is nobody inside while that happens.. - EdRiZzLe, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0She's a beauty.
- removesstains, on 06/04/2009, -1/+1LOL, seriously? whats considered new in that picture, besides maybe the Chevy in the front?
Atlantis is over 20 years old. - chadfaaborg, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0I totally thought the same thing about some of those support vehicles. Some of those are from the 70s, if not late 60s
Ford scissor lift truck (right wing)
Mac lighting generator truck (left wing)
