- weneedsound, on 10/12/2007, -1/+81I can only imagine the YTMND submissions.
- niardica, on 10/12/2007, -3/+68Steven Hawking FTW!
- ganjadude4391, on 10/12/2007, -0/+54This is just great. All too often the most interesting people dont get the attention the deserve until after death. In Hawkins case, it is even more amazing due to his condition. Great minds should be applauded.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -9/+62I think he should get his freak on while he's up there. Bring up some space ho's and get down.
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+46"I disagree. Hawking is a great writer, without a doubt, but a lot of his popularity may be because of his condition. Many people assume a man confined to a wheelchair to devote his life to science and therefore be a better physicist."
Hawking was a physicist before he was confined to a wheelchair. - rnwen2750, on 10/12/2007, -0/+45I agree. It is very sad that our society (as a whole) values the thoughts and actions of vapid, shallow "beauties" yet all too often ignores or otherwise devalues the accomplishments of the truly effectual people.
- ConanOBrien, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34Steven hawking will wreck your ***** with math, be careful.
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Don't compare Steve Irwin to Chuck Norris please thank you
- computergod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21He had a heart attack while doing a lecture a few months ago, then kept going after his built in defibrillator got his heart going again. If he can pick up a lecture after something like that, then I think he will do just fine in that plane.
- NewzClewz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16It is pretty Awesome for Hawking. He deserves a couple of space flights for all of the knowledge he has given us over the years!
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Well, the beauty of Hawking is not only in his intelligence but in the way he can explain his theories to the layman.
- rnwen2750, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Rock on, Hawking. Rock on!
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+10Good for him, he earned every second.
- PunkRockRalph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10stephen hawking would make a gnarly intergalactic warrior.
- bloaty, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Great to hear that someone who has contributed so much to humankind Finlay gets a little back!
Hope he has a good time! - johnnyzero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Too bad more scientists aren't given the treatment Hawking receives. He is a genius no doubt, but there are lots of genius scientists that struggle for an ounce of recognition.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Godspeed!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It's the little things that matter more. For instance, today I expect every fry you give me to be about the same length.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5In case you didn't realize, I'm saying you work at a fast food restaurant.
- Myonosken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That was a bad comment able...but also alluring bad :D.
- SteelChicken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3if the man wants to be weightless for while, let him, hes earned it.
- taxali, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I'd put him with Einstein anyday.
- minorthreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3LOL.. I dugg up the YTMND comment last night and checked back this morning if anyone left a link.. I must say that made my morning...
- zapfastnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I sure hope he does enjoy it,
but the military version of this ride is called the "Vomit Comet".
the man does certainly have a pair to give it a try,
I commend him and wish him bliss galore! (~):-} - sheppoor, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I’m of two minds. First, its great, he does deserve it. But responsible organizations like NASA have strict protocols that include passing a physical, and for good reason. You can’t do too much if something does go wrong up there, let alone rush someone to the hospital from 20,000 feet over the Atlantic.
I do hope he has a great time, but I’m concerned the company is putting a PR stunt above safety protocol. - barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As an astrophysicist, I'm sure he understands the dangers.I also don't think he would like the government keeping him from doing what he wants.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He deserves more to go to space than those billionaires buying trips on space shuttles.
- ripstuntz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Think he'll float around in his wheelchair?
Maybe he can do some sweet ass 1080s and backflipz! - xekko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Video now up here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6594821.stm
- prosep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2One of the greatest minds of our time! He certainly deserves this. Best wishes to him.
- MainframeF4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Im a big fan of Hawking and i think its the best gift a person could do for him.
Even better is that he gets to take off from Kennedy Space Center. Hopefully he can check out the facility while hes there.
Its sucks because hes only 45 minutes away from where i live and no sources have provided a time of flight yet. - ganjadude4391, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you obviously have no understanding of who he is other than "hes that guy in a wheel chair who talks through a computer"
google him before you claim he hasnt done anything relevant - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Any videos or photographs?
- SubZ3r0, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4First off I have a family member that works at NASA/JPL he even said himself that nasa's physical requirments are over blown to keep people from going into space so before you start saying he dont meet the physical requirments john glenn went into space and he was just a few years from complete retirment. Try to think before you just blurt out something you have no idea about.
- Iwantawii, on 10/12/2007, -9/+8This is the type of thread where I will click the [show comment] on the most dugg down comments, because that's where the best comments will be for sure!

the man does certainly have a pair to give it a try,
I commend him and wish him bliss galore! (~):-} - JBMafia64, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I love Mr. Hawkings but the government might be trying to kill him. We'll find out after this trip.
- ablez3, on 10/12/2007, -26/+23he sure does love black holes.
- Scheissen, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6And Timmy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+12Just make sure he takes along the Speak-N-Spell. :)
- meshman, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1The World's Smartest Man. Where's the new, renewable energy sources? Where's new technology to boost food production? How about new cancer treatments? I know, I can't do any better but I'm not supposedly the World's Smartest Man. Something useful from him would be good for a change.
- SubZ3r0, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1With wieghtlessness graphs so they can simulate the wheelchair reck rofl
- antechinus, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2It might be bliss for him, but what will be effect of weightless blobs of spittle and drool on the sensitive electronic equipment on board?
- tony134340, on 10/12/2007, -14/+5Speaking of getting it on, his nurse/ex-wife comes to mind: http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/ap/xvy10406131111.widec.jpg
- JudgeDredd, on 10/12/2007, -19/+6Watch out for Hawking drool floating about in all trajectories. Sorry. Good for him!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3Holy *****, it's full of numbers! -5? that's the best you guys can do?
- Metaridley, on 10/12/2007, -19/+6Stephen Hawking, in spite of his physical limitations, deserves to join the ranks of Chuck Norris, Mr. T, King Leonidas, Steve Irwin, and Jack Bauer.
He deserves it. - BahJayJay, on 10/12/2007, -19/+3At least if the plane goes down his wheelchair has its own blackbox.
