- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It's amazing that that little bugger is still going strong.
Hopefully, it doesn't get squashed by those damn Transformers. - Phr00t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That is just awesome. I remember watching the first few images being returned from Spirit, and the whole office started cheering. Keep up the good work guys!
- mindtrap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm just as amazed myself. Just the fact the the little critter has gone through so much. I hope it lives on much longer.
- ChiGGz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I almost burst my pants when I saw the first images
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If they keep running that thing, it will eventually achieve sentience, build a machine civilization on Mars, and launch an invasion force. Please, won't somebody think of the children??!?!?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Where is my space modulator!
Where's the Kaboom? There was supposed to be an Earth Shattering Kaboom! - mhlester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I didn't know Spirit had traveled over four miles. Truly incredible.
...Traveled millions of miles. Driven four miles. That's what I meant. - kd1s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That little machine was quite the feat of engineering. If you haven't yet read it, I strongly suggest reading Steve Squyers book "Roving Mars". It details what went into those little rovers that could.
Considering they've gotten close to 900 extra sols out of each rover, and they still seem to be going strong, I'd say we should nominate that team for an engineering award of some sort. They deserve it. - quantum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1NASA is *still* producing Spirit images? Sheesh!
C'mon, give the film crew at the Mars soundstage a break! I'm sure they want to move on to other gigs.
T-minus 3... 2... 1... And we have mod down of the NASA is a hoax comment
