- Lbinator, on 11/27/2008, -1/+11Now all we need is a solar powered probe to view unseen parts of uranus.
- lovemorgul, on 11/26/2008, -1/+8The Galileo probe was expected to measure water, but it failed....
- m0laria, on 11/27/2008, -0/+5Solar power? There's no light where we're going.
- username7410, on 11/27/2008, -4/+8A probe to view unseen parts of Jupiter?!
Fap fap fap fap fap fap... - Chairboy, on 11/27/2008, -0/+3Solar power is essentially unusable at that distance. If it doesn't have an RTG or better (a simple nuclear battery, used in deep space probes for decades) then it won't have enough power to do anything useful.
Science takes watts. - DeFex, on 11/27/2008, -0/+3Shame its not going to that other planet 2 further out. it would have made a great headline.
- kronzdigg, on 11/27/2008, -0/+2Whatever happened to the probes that ran on nuclear energy? I miss those. Everything must be so green these days.
- CATSCEO2, on 11/27/2008, -0/+2Natural Gas powered*
- CATSCEO2, on 11/27/2008, -0/+2Good job at copy and pasting from the article.
- acegi, on 11/27/2008, -0/+2what has been seen...
- ZorkFox, on 11/27/2008, -0/+2This sentiment is so naïve. The technologies and sciences opened to us by the exploration of space are powerful and priceless. If people with your frame of mind made the decisions we'd be cold, sick, and living in caves. If you're so concerned about starvation, there are a lot of other expenditures that could be curtailed. For every dollar the government spends on NASA, it spends 98 on social programs and welfare.
- BossKey, on 11/27/2008, -0/+2Careful...legends say there is a black hole near Uranus...
- spyd3rweb, on 11/27/2008, -1/+3What technologies exactly?
- deadapostle, on 11/27/2008, -0/+2Just to be sporting, I went to szpromos.com. It looks to me like some idiot bought themselves a Chinese plastic factory and had no idea what to make, so they just started putting together any crap they could think of.
- scottysmith, on 11/28/2008, -0/+2so tell me zorkfox...what is so powerful & priceless about showing people unseen parts of jupiter...come on, tell us.
and guess what mate...a lot of people are cold, sick and living in caves...wake up mr zorkfox - Culyt, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1Good job at copy and pasting from the article.
- TheBead, on 11/27/2008, -1/+2Seriously! WTF is up with this *****!?
- ZorkFox, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1Both Cassini and New Horizons are powered by radioisotope thermoelectric generators.
- kronzdigg, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1ty I want more of those
- tHeSiD, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1to view unseen parts of Jupiter ......
that makes me feel so dirty in a weird way... - cughin, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1im pretty sure it will look the same as the visible side, just darker, i reckon push that money towards manned mars mish
- inactive, on 11/28/2008, -0/+0Nice. I guess we'll learn if Jupiter's core is really twice as large as previously thought, as researchers recently announced.
- byukid, on 11/27/2008, -2/+2This is just too easy of a headline to make a joke out of. It's not even sporting- it'd be like shooting a paraplegic deer.
- scottysmith, on 11/27/2008, -2/+2It will be really great to see the unseen parts of Jupiter, well worth $1billion dollars....meanwhile people starve and are homeless
- byro, on 11/27/2008, -0/+0And let's not forget that mini cooper going to mars next year. Mars Science Lab is also going nuke
- XxpokemasterxX, on 11/27/2008, -1/+1they should use this technology for uranus. it would revolutionize colonoscopies.
- byro, on 11/27/2008, -0/+0And let's not forget that mini cooper going to mars next year. Mars Science Lab is also going nuke
- joeyhndc, on 11/27/2008, -0/+0Uranus is where the sun don't shine.
Solar power is useless.
Also, I have never seen anything drawing attention to the fact that Uranus is gassy. I hereby make that statement. - DrLeePhD, on 11/27/2008, -2/+1Solar-powered probe to view unseen parts of Jupiter ?
that's what she said. - deadapostle, on 11/27/2008, -3/+2Uranus
- Shaggy3, on 11/27/2008, -6/+5Teen pregnancy joke here somewhere..
- m0laria, on 11/27/2008, -3/+1PROMOTE MY SPACE PROBE UP YOUR CHINESE ASS!
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -3/+1urmom
- captmorgan, on 11/27/2008, -5/+0You want to see parts of my anus? sicko!
- RegalGSX, on 11/27/2008, -6/+0My probe has a lot more than Jupiter
