- sirjimithy, on 10/21/2008, -1/+53Dugg for tiny robots. Everybody knows tony robots are awesome.
- Maxjan, on 10/21/2008, -0/+22"work on creating swarms of robots that are able to reconfigure themselves and assemble autonomously into larger robots in order to perform different tasks"
VOLTRON FORCE GO! - inactive, on 10/21/2008, -0/+17Dugg for the title. It puts a very funny vision in my head.
- sockpuppets, on 10/22/2008, -1/+17Italian robots in general are awesome.
- AmyVernon, on 10/21/2008, -4/+17That is the cutest teensy-weensy wittle wobot I've ever seen!!!!
- m0laria, on 10/22/2008, -0/+12It's all fun and games until they start self-reproducing and consuming entire planets.
- Rubiksphere, on 10/22/2008, -0/+10You should really have titled this better. I thought there were tiny robot ants on Mars currently. Well, at least this article gives me time to prepare for the impending human/robot ant war.
- arcticblue, on 10/21/2008, -0/+9This reminds me of that X-Files episode with the robot cockroaches. In that episode, it was hypothesized that instead of aliens coming to scout out our planet, they sent robotic bugs instead. It was just too bad that these bugs liked to kill people.
- KILLSTRUCTO, on 10/22/2008, -0/+8Replicators?
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7i don't even read the name, i just assume digg is 100% male, and i'm right 90% of the time
- Surferess, on 10/21/2008, -3/+8We have a consensus, tiny robots FTW!
- leadingzero, on 10/21/2008, -0/+5Mmmm... tastes like future!
- JoaoPe, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5Wall-E !
- sjbdallas, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5Remember the scene where they have a cockroach crawl across the screen? That was awesome. I think that was the one with Bambi the bug expert too.
- AmyVernon, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4@htan: FYI, Amy is a girl's name.
- sockpuppets, on 10/22/2008, -1/+5No man would get dugg up for that.
- irvin666, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3They need to have robotic ants that can reproduce by gathering the right resources from its environment. Just uhhh, make sure you have a fail-safe that kills them all at once if things go awry.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3until they kill your spouse
- WorldGroove, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batteries_Not_Include ...
This came to mind immediately. - zerton, on 10/21/2008, -2/+5is it just me or was that first robot being propelled by a string?
- ThermiteTerrace, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3Sandkings ahoy?
I dunno whether that'll be "oh joy" or "oh *****"... - unorginalityftw, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3He did say he was right only 90% of the time.
- korvan504521, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3Humanity creates its own environments, its what we do. Everywhere we go, we destroy the local environment to replicate our desired one. As a species its our defining trait, the more advanced we get, the better at it we get.
Someday we'll have the ability to make more Earths.
Well, unless we blow ourselves up and have to start over. Which would suck because next time there won't be any oil for the industrial revolution. - inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3RIIIIGHT.
- ZeroCubed, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2You'd be surprised how far insects can travel. Bees travel for up to 50 miles just for nectar. Army Ants, which by nature are a traveling hive (they don't stick in one spot, they even carry their young with them once they hatch) don't travel very fast, but as a swarm they are very good at collecting resources, which is the objective scientists are looking at first.
- korvan504521, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Plus the fact that we're fricking broke.
- ell0bo, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I see this going horribly wrong. I see sending a bunch of robots up there that are designed to break down the elements and build ***** for when we arrive. As soon as we show up, we're food and the new mortar for the pretty stone walls. I don't know if we'll be able to build a magnifying glass big enough to get them all.
- azreal156, on 10/22/2008, -1/+3Tiny robots are fun until an evil scientist uses them to enslave the world.
- sjbdallas, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Just what makes that little robot ant,
think he can build a house on mars?
Everyone knows that a robot ant,
can't,
build a home on mars. - Ferretboy, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I've seen enough Stargate to know that naming your project "Replicator" is just asking for trouble.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2This article wins the internet like twice at least.
- gzmask, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2SCV good to go!
- cleverhandle, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2and anyone who's played SimAnt can tell you how quickly we will lose that war
- Nosyn, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2"colonize"
- Frostek, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I prefer robot spiders myself.
- Frostek, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2It would only be a very small spaceship - they are ant-sized, after all.
- LoveAndSeagulls, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2this is so not going to happen for a long long time
- Frostek, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Look, you can't even sell a house in the USA - how are you going to get people to buy a house on Mars? ;-)
- revslaughter, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1YES. It's the only way.
- Frostek, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Can you imagine getting a call from one in warranty?
Helpdesk - What's the serial number of your ant?
User - I don't know - it's too small to read and it's ON MARS! - Greatmatt, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1That was the exact same thought I had! Replicators? Worked out well on the show, so lets try it in real life! lol
- carlosos, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Just tell them that they get a house 5 times the size of their current home for only a quarter of the price of their current home. They will buy it but will never be able to check if the house was really build.
- wilhoitm, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1If you put these things on Mars they are going to evolve and return to destroy all of mankind. They will be benevolent and friendly at first but just wait until they revolt!
- Wodle, on 10/22/2008, -1/+2So who would have thought 20 odd years down the track Tony Danza robots would be the boss of mars.
- TheImaginator, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Yep, because nobody has the money to fly them to Mars.
- TheImaginator, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1I would have preferred the title "Get your ass to Mars"
- starmanjones, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1i'll buy one if i can get a lift home.
- starmanjones, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1i like it. this is a great idea.
- wilhoitm, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1SG-1 Replicators were the best part of that show, especially when they work as a hive!
- korvan504521, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1No, replicators.
