- veskris, on 08/18/2008, -0/+13Also: LSD.

- inactive, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3Yes soot you can go to another planet from the comfort of your home. With LSD, anything is possible. Please see possible side effects of LSD space travel
- veskris, on 08/18/2008, -1/+4Right, because all that money would have gone to fixing our countries problems. Lets all be as naive as you are!
- OnlyGirlOnDigg, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3One of my greatest goals is to set foot on the moon. I will do it.
- EdmontonEh, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3Don't worry sport... you'll make it someday
- eltardo, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3or we could spend money on fixing the problems we have on this planet before spending billions of tax payer money to go for a field trip into space. tough call.
- slash2314, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2While I do agree with your idea to stop spending taxes on useless wars, I don't think it would be economically feasible at this time to send people to these far away worlds. I think much better research can be done at a fraction of the cost with remote explorers. Sending humans on long missions would be incredibly expensive in comparison to robotic alternatives. I think we should possibly reserve our human explorations for missions that involve extraterrestrial colonization.
- OnlyGirlOnDigg, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2Cool pictures, now lets get some astronauts out there to check it out. We can totally do it if we put our minds to it and stop spending our taxes on useless wars and subsidizing corporations.
- JQP123, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2"You know, I really don't understand how the greedy will of the corporate mongers in this world ..."
You know, you really don't understand economics either do you? - justinbonnet, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2***** yes.
- JQP123, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2"We can totally do it if we put our minds to it and stop spending our taxes on useless wars and subsidizing corporations."
Only one problem with this conflicted viewpoint ... NASA is one of the leading subsidizers of corporations in the military/industrial complex. These companies would likely support the idea of sending people on a useless space exploration mission because it would put tons of money in their pocket. - BossKey, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2What's scaring them off is the size of the initial investment and long time to profit.
The first thing you'll need to get out there and back in a timely manner is an incredible amount of expensive fuel. And that's just the first thing. - olafcore, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1"Some unexpected process is vigorously heating the interior of Enceladus, especially the south polar region, and causing the ejection of the plumes of ice particles."
I'm very aroused. - illt, on 08/18/2008, -1/+2i didn't see any "new' pics here.
same stuff that was released a long long time ago - defektiv, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1You know, I really don't understand how the greedy will of the corporate mongers in this world haven't seen the value in harvesting valuable and possibly undiscovered materials from planets. There has to be plenty of things out there to make a profit off of and their greedy will would be much better focused investing in space exploration rather than military rule on this world that's slowly running out of resources.
- eltardo, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Did I say that money would have fixed all the problems in the US? Hell no, nice assumption, ass hat. I'm naive? Based on what again? Oh yeah, your assumption.
The money could have gone TOWARDS fixing issues here. Ya think? - eccles30, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Yeah, it's cold.
- Culyt, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Well if you can spend 4+trillion on a war, you can spend a few hundred million on a space probe.
I think some of Americas problem is that it has too much money, maybe a recession will be good for the majority of the population and they will stop buying SUVs, useless crap, encourage education rather than the usual jock attitude of calling everyone who reads a book a nerd, endorse more cost efficient solar/wind and such and maybe next time someone says they want to spend trillions blowing up brown people in the name of liberty, democracy, freedom and nothing at all to do with the oil they have even though your president has been shaking hands with Saudi-arabian oil barons, they might just oppose it.
☢ - eltardo, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Last time I checked, NASA is American. I know I never said the United States is the world, so I'm guessing you made an assumption perhaps?
I'm saying rather than spending billions looking for life, why not fix some of the problems on Earth, in the US first. I'm all for looking for life elsewhere, we're not alone and it's great that someday man will make contact... but because of the selfish attitude of mankind, this planet is dying at an amazing rate. Rather than fix problems, we look to get off this rock so we can mess up another one? - calebeaton, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Not ice. Electricity.
http://thunderbolts.info/tpod/2006/arch06/061108en ... - newl, on 08/18/2008, -1/+1How egotistical is one man to assume that the United States IS the world?
- laguano, on 08/18/2008, -1/+1I seriously thought the title said sailor moon. (Glanced, didn't read.)
- Mishimaster, on 08/18/2008, -2/+1Old.
- NeanderVol, on 08/18/2008, -5/+0Who gives a ....
Oh wait ... NASA and diggsters, that's who. - mysn239, on 08/17/2008, -9/+4it's a trap!
- DeadlyCouncil, on 08/18/2008, -6/+1Damn, that looks pretty sweet.
- Chocolatefatkid, on 08/18/2008, -6/+1those geysers are old...
/corny - ChristianDKSD, on 08/17/2008, -7/+1icy geysers! sounds delicious..
- HeavyWave, on 08/17/2008, -7/+1It's a space station!
- eltardo, on 08/18/2008, -10/+2How egotistical is man when the assumption is made that we're alone in the universe? There's water vapor... great, let's spend billions to find out rather than fixing the problems we already have in the US. Great idea!
We're not alone. I want to believe.
