- DavidinBoston, on 05/11/2009, -0/+47The interviewer asked Musk if he can get a human being on Mars by "2020 or 2025." The wishy washy response was "We'll try." That's more than a tad different than the headline above.
- pegothejerk, on 05/11/2009, -4/+45I finally get to know if there really are 3 breasted women.
- killscreenes, on 05/11/2009, -0/+41I believe the exact words were "We'll try", not "It's happening".
- RapidDave, on 05/11/2009, -3/+38Screw you guys. I'm going to Mars
- drowningfish, on 05/11/2009, -0/+27I would drop everything to be on that trip. I would not think twice.
- xodex, on 05/11/2009, -1/+26My ass, by 2020... More like 2040. And that's if the people on earth can survive all the future wars.
They always announce something and then delay the project endlessly. This is going to be another Duke Nukem and we all know how that turned out. - Nickolassc, on 05/11/2009, -1/+18I've got 20 units of space cash at 2009 value that says we don't have humans on mars by 2020.
- BigManOnCampus, on 05/11/2009, -1/+16Sign me up for anything that helps make this happen. This guy should post job openings, I'd even offer volunteer time.
- AxsToro, on 05/11/2009, -1/+15What? This is wrong, we'll have a sealab in 2020
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -1/+15If this were to actually happen, it would be so amazing. 60 years ago man was never going to enter outer space. Now in ten years we'll be visiting Mars? Feels good to be a human.
- Noliaboy75, on 05/10/2009, -3/+15I hope it's cooler than it is in Red Planet.
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -0/+11and it won't even be good until 2021
- KLowD9x, on 05/11/2009, -0/+11You lie! Everyone knows that we modulate the information in our DNA into sound waves and shoot it at the face with a radioactive speaker that oscillates.
Then we go inside and only one of us goes home. The others go back to the ship. - sparkie, on 05/11/2009, -0/+11http://www.msss.com/mars_images/moc/extended_may20 ...
Thanks to the Mars Global Surveyor we already have, surprisingly as has been said all along, it's just a shadow. - PabloIV, on 05/11/2009, -0/+10Full interview: http://fora.tv/2009/04/07/Uber_Entrepreneur_An_Eve ...
Tons of really cool stuff gets covered. - inactive, on 05/11/2009, -2/+10So now men must return to their mother planet, get going guys.
- nepidae, on 05/11/2009, -0/+7Cold fus ... er, Mars is only 10 years away.
- Kragnerac, on 05/11/2009, -1/+8It's Happening: Flying cars, hoverboards, and self-drying jackets by 2015.
- BrownieMix, on 05/11/2009, -0/+6I don't think the mission will be successful.... the first crew to go to Mars might not come back to Earth.
- shank2001, on 05/11/2009, -0/+6I always found it fitting that women "come from" the "Hell" planet of the solar system, Venus.
- RareSaturn, on 05/11/2009, -1/+7no-one has been saying that
- andy9590, on 05/11/2009, -0/+6But MAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
- drethedog, on 05/11/2009, -0/+6"I hope Musk's cars get more mileage than his conversation ability. nothing said in the whole video"
- NinjaGod, on 05/11/2009, -0/+5We have the internet for that.
Protip: Yes. - ihate2regist, on 05/11/2009, -0/+5the 3rd one was just paper mache.
- JakTheStripper9, on 05/11/2009, -1/+6Space cash is only worth what you as a planet decided it was worth. I mean how stupid is your species? Space cash?
People of earth, since you did not return the space cash your species and your planet is here by forever blocked off and barred from the rest of the universe. Goodbye. - roflmcwaffles, on 05/11/2009, -2/+6M - A - R - S, Mars, bitches.
Red rocks! - drowningfish, on 05/11/2009, -0/+4Wouldn't change it for me. I'd still go. I have no kids, and I'm not married. My life is worth sacrificing to experience Space, let alone another planet, and push Humanity forward.
May be a bit too poetic, but I'm dead serious. - Renian, on 05/11/2009, -0/+4So we're on track for demons on Mars by 2145 then?
- Vosona, on 05/11/2009, -1/+5***** YES
I wish to live to see a world where humanity can easily travel between planets and live comfortably on them. - FolkTheory, on 05/11/2009, -0/+3Totally
- chessthecat, on 05/11/2009, -1/+4I already knew this. Bush told us as much a few years back.
- KingGorilla, on 05/11/2009, -0/+3Mars bitches
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -1/+4Just go on one of those Rekall vacations.
- tgc1, on 05/11/2009, -0/+3"Get your ass to Mars....
Get your ass to Mars....
Get your ass to Mars..." - BigManOnCampus, on 05/11/2009, -0/+3Before 1920 or so, we didn't even realize there were other galaxies.
- matude, on 05/11/2009, -0/+3Logic, with exclamation marks!
- xer0five, on 05/11/2009, -0/+3Acid.
- HAL90000, on 05/11/2009, -2/+5If only private enterprise had gotten more involved decades ago, we might already have moon bases and regular trips to space for middle class families. Government controlling the industry has led to just about zero new innovations, or maybe a couple steps every decade. There's no incentive for them, so they take forever and progress at the rate of a retarded snail. The only reason they succeeded to begin with was because they were competing with Russia, and they had incentive then to win, as it would increase their power by making them look stronger.
- andy9590, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2***** ya man. In no time, we would be reaching the Blade Runner future.
- Devramos, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2I think that's exactly what space travel needs to get us into real exploration. Why is there only NASA? The only reason we were able to get our feet onto the moon was because of the space race during the cold war. We need competition. We need to get some investors on board- no pun- and start working towards it. Yeah, it's a risky move, but that's what an investment is.
- ihate2regist, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2or that other one that was the same movie
- npierno, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2nothing but the possible future haven for humanity, depending on how we do with earth. if humanity doesn't expand, its days are inevitably numbered. just cause it doesn't affect your lifetime does not make it pointless. only for the complete narcissist
no resources? are you a fool? I'm led to assume so since I can't imagine you know whats even a few feet below the surface.
we still might even find life there, or clues about life.
tunnel vision much? - jasdf, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2I laughed.
- jasdf, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2What if it was a one way trip?
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2***** waste of money. Send robots, they're much more efficient.
Of course, if you feel like going on a definite suicide mission, Mars is the ticket. - frostbyt, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2Yes to expand to a place where we can survive. Mars has nothing for humans. There is so much more to discover and accomplish on earth. Just because you say we need to expand to a dead planet does not mean we should. Humans are perfectly made to survive on earth. We don't have enough resources to make it to another earth type planet. We don't need to dump the money into an bottomless pit when we could do so much more with it. We are all stuck here until the sun uses up all the hydrogen, turns into helium, and swallows the earth up.
- rheaume, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2Buried as inaccurate
Maybe he can retrofit a shuttle to get up there = HE DOESN'T ACTUALLY BUILD ANYTHING
Id bet more on Rutan than this guy - inactive, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2Think that's a trip?
The first powered flight was in 1903, and we landed on the moon in 1969.
66 years from flight to space travel? It's amazing when you think about it, how fast humans are advancing. - Recoil, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2As long as I'm still alive when it happens...
