- jakatan, on 05/09/2008, -0/+28The navigation was far more annoying than it should have been
- treblig, on 05/09/2008, -0/+20Cool Concept.
Horrible implementation. - MalkyMalc, on 05/09/2008, -0/+8So, so slow. Gave up in the 80s....
Wait... so did NASA - MalkyMalc, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6They secretly flew Challenger to a hangar on Mars where they faked the moonlandings.
- RogerStrong, on 05/09/2008, -1/+7>> I expect to be asked for proof
Nah. No-one expects you to have any proof whatsoever. Tinfoil, yes, but not proof. - eth3l, on 05/09/2008, -2/+7Cool. Be prepared to see an end to the space program if Obama is elected.
http://blog.al.com/roop/2008/02/obama_and_nasa.htm ... - KillerPenguinz, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4thats cool and all but its a shame that you can only view a limited amount of details on only a select few, but very cool through =]
- MrFurious2k, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4Wow, could they have made the interface any more annoying? However, great idea.
- loneraven, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4What's the whole distance from earth thing about?
The space shuttle sure hasn't traveled 100,000 miles from earth... neither has the space stations. - inactive, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4As Neo says:
Woo... - listrophy, on 05/09/2008, -1/+4From eth3I's article: "A five-year delay [for the Constellation program] is a death sentence." How incredibly true this statement is. If Obama wants to inject money into education, the last place from which he should be extracting it is NASA. Being an aerospace engineer, this is the only issue preventing me from committing to Obama.
- inactive, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3Very good idea.....but horrible presentation....
- 3dprototype, on 05/09/2008, -1/+4The Flash presentation and, cough, "designer" should have been blasted into space!
- kurtwinter, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3Art Bell FTW.
- Faelenor, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3I want to zoom out!!!
- shortyjacobs, on 05/09/2008, -1/+3You realize those books you are reading are "fiction", right? And those shows on the Sci-Fi channel are NOT documentaries....
- verkon, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2What a twist!
- yetAnotherCroc, on 05/09/2008, -1/+3Aww, no SpaceShipOne? I mean it was only the first ship to bring a man past the edge of space by purely private means, but still.
- toastmonster, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2It scrolls in the wrong direction, totally opposite to conventional click & drag
- womblep, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2I was hoping for more as well.
- skor, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2Much better example of how to present a timeline:
http://simile.mit.edu/timeline/ - CrispyBeef, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Good info, but trying not to be too picky there are a lot of launches missing. If the navigation and data can be improved it will be truly great.
- Joab, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1If the flash developer is reading the comments here are some hints for a better user experience.
Make the width of the flash player dynamic based on the browser window size. This way you can maximize the viewable area.
Add acceleration to the scrolling or better yet get rid of the scrolling and create better interaction.
Create a minimap on the lower right corner of the player so users know where they are while scrolling the map.
Use a small pixel font for the key. Looks like crap on a hi res monitor. - oldcyborg, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Velly Intellesting!!!! It looks like the interface has too many things under OTHER......... but it was still fun...
Cyborg - MedicalMatt, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1This doesnt cover the spaceships from dem ayleeuhns
- wubblie, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Exactly. I will not vote for any politician who states he will cut funding for the space program. Period. The five year delay 'plan' is a joke to anyone who has ever worked in engineering. NASA's budget is like 1/3000th the defense budget. I find it incredible that Obama singled out NASA as a program to cut.
- Enlefo, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Freakin serious... get some new developers.
- kiwimonk, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1damn, I thought this said lunch in space, I was much less impressed when I found out it was really Launch. :/
- ScannerMobs, on 05/09/2008, -1/+2throw us a bone.. youve listed a bunch of implausible but interesting 'ideas' acting as if theyre common knowledge.. if youve seen such convincing evidence at least present it to us?
i also have literally no idea what the ***** 'planet x' is and how its on its way back into 'the' (presumably you mean 'our') solar system. i didnt know planets went on holiday.. and if they do WHY WOULD THIS BE INCLUDED IN A LIST OF SPACE MISSIONS?!?!?! sorry for shouting but you understand? anyway if you have any proof, i am all ears! - cbartlett, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1All they would have to do is reverse the direction of the dragging and it would be a thousand times better. Usability testing!!
- ScannerMobs, on 05/09/2008, -0/+0same.. anyway here is my Interactive Timeline of Every Single Space Lunch Ever:
big bang-------->mars bar----------->the bananas that space monkey ate-------->chicken ceasar wrap i had that can literally only be described as "out of this world"-------->end of the world - inactive, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1Welll no...you see..Obama is just like JFK...
- sunnyoraish, on 05/10/2008, -1/+0yea right.....huh
like i had enough fears for the human race already
