- cgibbo, on 11/14/2008, -14/+119Call center strategically deployed in crater.
- oboshoe, on 11/14/2008, -16/+90Welcome to 1966 ! (Soviet 1966 at that)
Nonetheless, even 42 years after the soviets did it first and 41 years after the US did it, India is still in quite rare company.
I think its awesome that India is now focusing on exploring space. Maybe it'll get the US off our butts so we can once again start to lead in this area. - superfusion, on 11/14/2008, -6/+79Sweet job India!
Canada's been to The Geosynchronous Orbit!
(sigh) - skyshock1, on 11/14/2008, -10/+77Great job India!
- jonshipman, on 11/14/2008, -19/+83The first thing it did was set up a customer support call center
- BenKenobi88, on 11/14/2008, -5/+62Wow, that was stupid on many levels.
- post3r3r, on 11/14/2008, -7/+56Show us on the doll where India touched you.
- kismetropolis, on 11/14/2008, -5/+44We like the moon, 'cause it is close to us!
- rheaume, on 11/14/2008, -4/+38Regardless of the tard comments, I still think this is cool.
- jhails, on 11/14/2008, -11/+45Congratulations to India.
- colmatteus, on 11/14/2008, -5/+38In Soviet Russia, 1966 welcomes YOU!
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -5/+35sorry about that. We were just to busy rebuilding our country after the 200 year oppression by the British rule. Gosh darnit, if we knew we would have tried harder.
- RSS14, on 11/14/2008, -6/+34chak de phattey!
- danj484, on 11/14/2008, -2/+30Yes, forego scientific and technological advancement in favor of keeping a lifeless, atmosphere-lacking ball of dust free of relatively tiny pieces of metal. It's the moon's gravity that has an effect on the tides, and nothing more. We could cover the moon with our garbage, sewage, and nuclear waste and it wouldn't make a difference.
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -0/+26American should be happy about this mission too. The Imaging that is getting collected is partially using NASA made scanners and will be shared with America. Future landers from both the EU and and USA will be using this information.
- Scheitbag, on 11/14/2008, -3/+27...to all those blurting convenience store and call center jokes...thanks for that reminder that U.S. still has a LONG way to go before we've pulled our figurative head out of our colossal collective colon.
lets all just stfu with the petty racism and be happy that Space Race II is finally starting to take off. - RobotBuddha, on 11/15/2008, -0/+23We all know you're working on a space bridge made of maple trees.
- kanin76, on 11/14/2008, -3/+26First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
- Mohandas Gandhi - PhoenixAvatar2, on 11/14/2008, -2/+25Need to smoke less herb, dude.
- zigardne, on 11/14/2008, -12/+32Hell yeah India, welcome to the club!
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 11/14/2008, -2/+22This isn't some token "we made it" kind of thing. This is a real probe with real instruments doing real science.
- Harabeck, on 11/14/2008, -1/+20RTFA
"In the days to come, the probe will measure the composition of the Moon's ultra-tenuous atmosphere, or exosphere"
Trust me, they know a little bit more about the moon than you. - Pitstopper, on 11/14/2008, -2/+21A country progresses!
- Prathik89, on 11/15/2008, -6/+24cant you guys ***** get over Indian call centers?
- gnomead, on 11/14/2008, -0/+17America was still deeply segregated when it first landed on the Moon. But that doesn't in any way diminish NASA's awesome accomplishment, does it? You know nothing about India, so STFU.
- vandemon, on 11/14/2008, -0/+16Damn, anger much?
Congrats to the Indians for achieving what they did. Plenty of "first world" nations have yet to do so. - centerblack, on 11/14/2008, -0/+14Yea, kinda like how when we're standing on a hill I can see mountains 5 miles away, but I can't see what's in your stomach, a mere 3 feet away.
What's your ***** point? - nem0, on 11/14/2008, -2/+16I wonder if Pakistan is gonna try to build a moonbase before India does.
- Dotcommer, on 11/14/2008, -4/+18great, now all my tech calls will be forwarded to the moon...
- ortucis, on 11/14/2008, -1/+15lol
- superfusion, on 11/14/2008, -2/+15i don't know if this is funny.
i'm going to ask russell peters - chiefbandit2200, on 11/14/2008, -0/+13Every human should be happy for this. NASA is great, but major research has been lacking in recent years. Don't get me wrong, they still do a lot, and the Mars Rovers were pretty major, but funding is just not what it used to be. It's nice to see other countries do scientific research, because in the end, all humans will benefit from it.
- monsterCable, on 11/15/2008, -1/+14Finally we can outsource space exploration to India !
- fribhey, on 11/14/2008, -10/+23don't know why but the article made me ask this question to myself:
when people in India call customer service, are they patched to a call center in the United States with people faking Indian accents? - Thinkerofthings, on 11/14/2008, -11/+24They outsourced the job, to a country even cheaper than them...
- banderwocky, on 11/14/2008, -6/+18That is pretty awesome.
- OpaqueMurdock, on 11/14/2008, -0/+12Wow, I have to admit I didn't realize this was going on. So to anyone from India, first please forgive my ignorance about the current status of your space program, and then please accept my congratulations! Great acheivement.
- Intercon, on 11/14/2008, -0/+12Is there an echo in here!?
- Mooseka, on 11/14/2008, -0/+11Haha you god damned hippie
- kanin76, on 11/14/2008, -0/+11Way to go India !
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
- Mohandas Gandhi - diggThis77, on 11/14/2008, -0/+11Is there an echo in here!?
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -1/+12It's really depressing that such a momentous feat is not even on the news.
- piper999, on 11/14/2008, -5/+16Your lack of knowledge of geography is indicative of an American education.
Casbah? Absolutely hopeless. - billbugger, on 11/14/2008, -6/+167-11 next door.
- ortucis, on 11/14/2008, -0/+10How about your brain?
- disco5896, on 11/14/2008, -3/+13And build a 7-11.
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -2/+12This shows just how far India has come. How can you not appreciate the uplifting of a country of so many people out of poverty and into space! This is a great day for man!
- daiolw, on 11/14/2008, -0/+10Congratulations India, you should be rightly proud. Ignore the naysayers.
- liljay2k, on 11/14/2008, -0/+10Really genius? You must of worked with the NASA team to know that info.
