Excessiveness reaches new levels. - shortkud, on 07/13/2008, -0/+20Mirrors, as soon as they finish downloading. Give about 10min for the full, only getting 25KB/s.

- j3ff86, on 07/13/2008, -0/+13Everyone knows sand people always ride single file to hide their numbers.
- cameltoenail, on 07/13/2008, -1/+12No Starbucks?
- inactive, on 07/13/2008, -1/+11Isn't "Widescreen panoramic" a bit redundant?
- professorfurley, on 07/13/2008, -0/+9so this is what mars looks like?
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3280/2664614230_d3e ... - Totz83, on 07/13/2008, -0/+7Houston we have a page load problem
- Swampious, on 07/13/2008, -0/+7If you look very closely you can see some Sand People on the horizon, returning in greater numbers.
- LSDRunner, on 07/13/2008, -2/+8I just wanna wander around there sooo bad.
- cr250guy, on 07/13/2008, -1/+6I want a poster of this image.
- sadisticmind, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5(you after 5 hours)
This ***** sucks maan! - Rotzooi, on 07/13/2008, -2/+7Works fine, still. Just keep slamming F5, after a few dozens times it connects.
- webandflow, on 07/13/2008, -0/+4Did anyone see where I left my "Messengers From Earth 2007 CD?"
I hope I didn't leave it on the Pho . . .
Ah, crap. - Mysk, on 07/13/2008, -0/+4It's always annoying how they chop out huge chunks of their photos. I pay for this *****? They don't deserve my tax dollars. :P
I want to see the sky, damn it! - glaz, on 07/13/2008, -3/+7Forbidden Planet ?
- Naskin, on 07/13/2008, -1/+4I want to be an ASTRONAUT
- shortkud, on 07/13/2008, -1/+4anyone got a mirror?
- life38, on 07/13/2008, -1/+4Just enjoy it for what it is.
- Wikifindings, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3If you like that picture, you might also find the interactive 360° version of the McMurdo panorama to be interesting:

- AlexWiggy, on 07/13/2008, -2/+5My bad; yes the one Shortkud link's too is 26720x6677. But the one this digg article links too is: 10000px × 2499px.
Either way, excessive. - edru, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3actually, that is pretty much the meaning of desolate.
- artfuldodga, on 07/13/2008, -4/+6why put images online, if you don't want them viewed?
- montysano, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2Looks like Oklahoma to me. No joke. Dead ringer for OK.
- Rotzooi, on 07/13/2008, -2/+4That's the thumbnail. The full-size is 26720x6677, check shortkud's link if the original site is down.
- Niightwitch, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2I think it's an amazing shot just the fact that we're seeing an entirely different planet and so clearly, desolate or not.
- Proctor, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2If you balance out the colors in photoshop, it's not as red as they portray it in post processing. You can tell the white balance they have it at is VERY warm.
- FreeTalkLIve, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2They chopped out the UFO's and alien birds.
- inactive, on 07/13/2008, -1/+3http://www.v360r.com/mars/
With a viewer to make it quicker, enjoy. - Elderon, on 07/13/2008, -1/+3Those were pretty amazing. I always get a little annoyed at a lot of the mars pictures that I see. I see cool pics and then I see that Nasa or whoever added filters x,y,z or whatever on the gamma or the RGB colors..etc for the best contrast and picture. I just want to see a picture such as I would see if I actually went to mars and snapped a photograph with my own camera.
- edwartica, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2No, dugg because its ***** awesome!
- ij00mini, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2Also, the site is down, so there's no way to see the original site.
- mjklaser, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2Did anybody else notice the crappy 'repair job' with Kapton tape on the lander (just above the words www.nivnac.co.uk/mer)? Otherwise, a cool pic.
- ho0ber, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2Nope. It is so one year ago. The next cool thing is making comments that have something to say (I hope :( ).
- MarsPhoenix, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1There are two excavation sites in the picture. The one on the left was done first, as a practice site for digging with the arm and scooping material. The second excavation site is on the right, near the solar panel, and is being used for sample acquisition and science analysis.
- EQGelu, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1yay people needing to learn2spell
incredible... - wjappe, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1When I tried to follow the Digg link to this it told me "Forbidden" "You don't have permission to access /phoenix/pans/peter_pan/peter_pan_f9_10000.jpg on this server."
so I guess I won't be seeing this pic. Maybe someone could send it to me. - xxxFRIARxxx, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1I'm sorry to be "that guy" but I don't think that looks real.
I'm not being the "that's photoshoped" guy, but it's...well, too "digitized" is how I'd describe it. It looks totally ***** fake.
/no joke. - FLarsen, on 07/13/2008, -1/+2I'm waiting for conspiracy theorists to say that they removed airborne alien cities from the pictures.
- inactive, on 07/13/2008, -1/+2Try this zoom viewer:
