I asked a friend of mine whether or not he had gone downtown to check out the fireworks, and he said "No way, I stayed at home and watched them IN HD!!". For some reason I was unable to convince him that watching things with your eyes is better quality than his high resolution TV.
- Kyouto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're obviously not the person to enjoy a meteor shower or anything... anyone mildly inclined to astronomy knows that to enjoy a good meteor shower you should bring a blanket and relax, not stand there like an idiot looking up at the sky.

Every time I hear talk of how wasteful it is to leave on your tv, lights at home, I think about the 400w HPS light in front of every other house, and parking lots packed with 1kw metal halides while no one is around.. like light is such a good thing.. I think only astronomy lovers are familiar with the term "light pollution"

- woofboy111, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0A few nights ago there was a huge meteor shower that lasted for about 15 minutes. In that 15 minutes I probably saw about 30 meteors...
- geneticlemon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The Perseids don't take place just on Sunday/Monday. It lasts for several days. Sunday and Monday just happen to the peak moments when most meteroids can be seen. You can do it on Saturday night and still get pretty decent results.
