- baramunchies, on 07/28/2008, -4/+71richard branson might be a crazy guy, but i think the world needs more guys like him.
- Richie311, on 07/29/2008, -2/+20If taken out of context, that would be the best submission title ever made.
- datcrazydj, on 07/29/2008, -0/+14Gizmodo needs a better picture viewing system.
- SIRBERUS, on 07/29/2008, -1/+15That is such a badass name.
- explnx, on 04/27/2009, -2/+11More crazy billionaires with lots of time on their hands? Sounds great.
- cnot3, on 07/29/2008, -0/+9He may be crazy, but he has invented a cheaper, more efficient way to get into space than the thousands of government scientists and bureaucrats working at NASA did.
- colonels1020, on 07/29/2008, -6/+14I believe in Harvey Dent.
- sockpuppets, on 07/29/2008, -3/+9Virgin Galactic is suborbital, it's a totally different ballgame. The hardware required to achieve orbit and then decelerate back into the atmosphere is significantly more complex and dangerous.
- Detry, on 07/29/2008, -1/+7wtf

It looks like all they did was weld two planes together - ja4444, on 07/29/2008, -0/+6http://gizmodo.com/photogallery/whiteknightrenderi ...
- inigomntoya, on 07/29/2008, -2/+7As apposed to most Diggers who clicked it because of the word "Virgin"
- b0rna, on 07/29/2008, -0/+4third times the charm.
- Ryan166, on 07/29/2008, -1/+5I get to see this bad boy on Saturday. ***** yea.
- bigbill780, on 07/29/2008, -1/+4Richard Branson could be Batman.
- Rippleeffect, on 07/29/2008, -0/+3The airport security had that tarmac locked down. I tried to get a peek myself, but wasnt able to. Guess I'll just have to wait until they run flight tests to see it.
- mofw, on 07/29/2008, -2/+4Burt Rutan sure makes some cool looking airplanes.
- govsucks, on 07/29/2008, -2/+4Thanks to a multinational corporation, I might actually get to go into space someday.
- ferrazf, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2"Actually it's not called the White Knight II. It is the VMS EVE. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMS_Eve"
Have you tried READING the stuff in the link you just posted? Right on the very first line
"It is the first White Knight Two delivered from Scaled Composites to Virgin Galactic."
"The first two WK 2s will be named after Steve Fossett (Spirit of Steve Fossett)[2], a close friend of Richard Branson, and Richard's mother Eve (VMS Eve)[3]."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Knight_Two - GrubFisher, on 07/29/2008, -1/+3I'm glad everyone doesn't think that way. Can you imagine how sad it'd be if in a hundred years we're still dicking around in the sand with our toys and -maybe- planning to send a government-funded rocket to the moon in 2118? If aliens are out there, they'd never come say hi.
- cnot3, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2It carried spaceship one into space, but I don't think Virgin had plastered it with their logos at that point. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scaled_Composites_Whi ...
- Ninjao, on 07/29/2008, -1/+3Virgin Galactic logo is nice
- Emachine, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2So what happened to Virgin Galactic White Knight I?
- kevisazombie, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2I saw White Knight 1 at EAA a couple of years ago, it was awesome.
- kaplanfx, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2he's not crazy, he's "eccentric"...
- MOJIRA, on 07/29/2008, -1/+3I love NASA like any other nerd, but I think privatization of the space industry is the way to go. Weyland Yutani will destroy you.
- dandonia, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1The day will come when aliens attack Earth - if we have no methods/experiance with space travel we wouldn't be able to defend ourself - so yeah the world needs more guys like him.
------------
On the flip side the world also needs more people like Bill Gates who is giving a crazy amount of his money to charitys. - dandonia, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1The title isn't obvious to people who don't know what Virgin Galactic White Knight II is.
- explnx, on 04/27/2009, -3/+4People said the same thing when they compared 35,000 foot plane flights to suborbital ones. They were right, but that didn't keep it from going forward. You can't get much more efficient that an ambitious private company, and when you put enough capital behind one it can get a whole lot done.
- KingGorilla, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1crazy is just a poor eccentric
- xiambax, on 07/29/2008, -3/+4Hes rich as hell. I wish I was him....
Funny how someone can get loaded off boy gorge. who would have though? - Amazetbm, on 08/24/2008, -0/+1The side cockpit windows on your average jetliner open up, too. Since this is a carrier aircraft isn't going to the edge of space, it's not a big deal.
- grantmoore3d, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1So, does that thing need two sets of pilots to fly it!? Must be a hell of a coordination task...
- dabura, on 07/30/2008, -1/+2***** you, two of my frien....
Nevermind, they can't afford this ride, move along. - boshuda, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1The windows roll down?
WHY?????? - colifis, on 08/04/2008, -0/+1Cut and paste in the CAD system. Piece of cake.
- colifis, on 08/04/2008, -0/+1He's a self proclaimed member of the mile high club.
- theguesser10, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1It has begun...
- theguesser10, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1Dugg for "My Other Ride Is A Spaceship"
- orirawlings, on 07/29/2008, -2/+2Actually it's not called the White Knight II. It is the VMS EVE.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMS_Eve - themadhatter444, on 07/29/2008, -3/+2Can anyone comment on how safe this actually is? This is the first time we've ever really done anything like this, so there's bound to be bugs, right? It will be exciting to watch the success of a market like this one.
- SciFctn, on 07/29/2008, -2/+1Start saving now.
- inactive, on 07/29/2008, -5/+3holy *****. i don't know why, but space just amazes the ***** out of me.
the final frontier.... we're finally getting closer to leaving the planet we ***** up. - topbob, on 07/30/2008, -3/+1Virgin can suck my balls.
- lukemann, on 07/29/2008, -4/+1When this thing has a mishap and everyone gets vented into space, that is really going to be something.
- tatertot444, on 07/29/2008, -11/+8Virgin Galactic>NASA
- whoomp123, on 07/29/2008, -5/+1I was expecting a picture of a guy dressed in a costume at comicon.
- stevenk87, on 07/29/2008, -5/+1This is a great tribute to a great man.
