- entrophize, on 02/11/2008, -0/+56This gives a whole new meaning to the term 'Fabric of Space-Time'
- brentinkc, on 02/11/2008, -1/+27I don't pretend to understand all of those abstract math concepts, but what a fantastic idea for a tactile experience of the subject.
- krystofr, on 02/11/2008, -0/+17These are basically blow-up-dolls for rocket scientists.
- dotlizard, on 02/11/2008, -3/+19that is just purely awesome.
- garfonzo, on 02/11/2008, -0/+13Let me introduce you to the icons on the right side of each comment.
Green Thumbs up = "I agree"
Red Thumbs down = "I disagree" - inactive, on 02/11/2008, -1/+11meh.
It's knot very interesting, quite plane really... - jessestorm, on 02/11/2008, -2/+12Man crocheted is such a weird word. It sounds nothing like it is spelled.
- FoxFaction, on 02/11/2008, -1/+10Easiest to visualize hypercone I've ever seen.
- rossmills, on 02/11/2008, -1/+9Step 1 of How to make your granny the geekiest old timer at the bowls club.
- SSCrow, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6no its okay, You have enough sex to cover for them, I'm sure.
- manogamez, on 02/11/2008, -1/+6This would have been so much more useful when I was taking an astronomy and theoretical physics course.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4crochet = math
it's really nothing more than an extension of knot theory and algorithmics - OneLess, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4Mathematician != rocket scientist
- ChromaVita, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3Before one can understand and crochet models of hyperbolic space, they must first become familiar with string theory...
/rimshot - RealmDown, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2*whoosh*
curved needles for curved space. Put another 50 cents in your sense of humor. - Attol, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2Hyperbolic space... lol wut?
- alricsca, on 02/11/2008, -2/+4That was really impressive. I wonder if we could use a computer model to make one of these in a plastic bath systems using a plastic with the right optical properties to transmit lines of light. If it had small enough loops, they might act to bend the light along the curves. I would like to see where the light goes and interferes with itself. It would also allow for far more complex models as the needles would be lasers. What I like most of all is that if you are in a relatively flat section of this form of space you might be inclined to think space is flat, so it opens the door to some interesting possibilities in the real world. I am also interested in what would happen if a black hole formed near two close edges. If it is true that gravity can leak out of this universe this would have interesting effects in nearby space time.
- soleil, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3And you are obviously a crochet expert, right?
- ChromaVita, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2This is the dumbest comment I have ever read. Do you know the characteristics of yarn?
- chemdiva, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3fantastic! it really does help the visualization.
- domokunt, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3I'm pleasantly surprised no sexist jokes were made about a woman knitting hyperbolic space models *sigh*
- ChromaVita, on 02/12/2008, -1/+3What I should think: Oh well that is a great model of Hyperbolic space. That definitely helps me visualize this abstract theory.
What I do think: Those are some pretty neat scrunchi looking yarn things. - dafragsta, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2That's one smart granny.
- Dougman82, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3That's because it's French in origin. Damn you, France!
- Lassan, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2I agree.
- llamaguy132, on 02/11/2008, -1/+3just because your too stupid to understand geometry doesn't mean it sucks
- FishHammer, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2i wonder how much of a virgin you have to be to truly appreciate this
- retrorambler, on 02/11/2008, -1/+2Fantastic! That is the best explanation of non-Euclidean mathematics ever! I wish we had come crocheters in Dr. Koch's class! That is the best way to visualize permutations in abstract. Too cool.
- buywowgoldz, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1using a plastic with the right optical properties to transmit lines of light. If it had small enough loops

http://www.crochetandknitting.net - spatty, on 02/11/2008, -1/+1and now i know what hyperbolic space is. you learn something new everyday
- mdoerr, on 02/11/2008, -2/+2If any man claims to have not read the title "Crotch-it-ed" he is either a liar or needs to stop working with needles in his free time.
- Semmyy, on 02/01/2009, -0/+0Nice patterns my friend, thanks to share with us...
http://www.knittingpatternss.com - DjOverEZ, on 02/11/2008, -6/+5All I see are ugly vaginas...
- bluerei, on 02/11/2008, -8/+5Looks like all she did was screw up when making a doily and lied to save face. "Uhh, no it's not a messed up doily... it's a... um... model of... hyperrrrrbolic space? Yeah, thats it!"
- takeda13, on 02/11/2008, -4/+1anyone care to summarise wot its supposed to mean?
- nhprm, on 02/11/2008, -8/+5Geometry sucks. I hate hyperbolic geometry more than transformational boringness
- RealmDown, on 02/11/2008, -7/+3I wonder if she uses curved needles.
- whitej, on 02/11/2008, -9/+4Finally! The Labia Hyperbolia!
- TWillz, on 02/11/2008, -7/+2fail
- JFallon126, on 02/11/2008, -7/+2Was anyone else's first reaction to the title trying to figure out what the hell a "crochet" was?
- pigglesnout, on 02/11/2008, -9/+1Someone has too much time on her hands :P
- 2xAlex, on 02/11/2008, -13/+3"math + crochet = just wrong"
I agree - bitterman316, on 02/11/2008, -14/+3math + crochet = just wrong
- sagat, on 02/11/2008, -14/+2Hey Physics nerds, you simply must find her! There may be a good chance she is the only chick in the world that will sleep with you.
