- jamessavik, on 07/19/2008, -2/+8The Eagle is a beauty all right. Tagged as M-16 by Charles Messier in the late 1700's, it was considered a "nuisance object" to comet hunters. Messier went on to discover 13 comets but none of them were as famous as the objects on his list of 103 "white elephants".

Is it even possible that with all the vast amount of space that these formations we see in the picture are alive in other ways than how we normally define life? They have to be alive. If not it would be such a wasted wouldn't it?
