APOD: At the Sun's Edge
apod.nasa.gov — A train trip on the Trans-Siberian railway to Novosibirsk resulted in this stunning view along the edge of the Sun recorded during the August 1st total solar eclipse.

- cwpeck, on 08/07/2008, -1/+3the corona is a wonderful thing
- bngeodesic, on 08/07/2008, -1/+3its all about how you look at things and what perspective you take that makes things as cool as they can be...
- fit4130, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2The detail that he captured is stunning. I just wish we could get it in a much higher resolution so I could get a really good look at the solar prominences. Amazing picture of the epicness of space.
- bcuban, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2incredible photos. Makes me feel pretty insignificant. thanks for sharing!
- gordmoo, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2beautiful

- uzairimran63, on 08/07/2008, -8/+1This is sign of god on earth.
- matt510, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2Wouldn't it be a sign of God on the Sun?
- Fallout911, on 08/07/2008, -2/+6Actually most of the ***** you believe in originated from the worship of the "Sun".
So yeah.
- justelite, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2this photo was made by a Romanian. nice.
- wynja, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2The sun is awfully quite these days.
- drlha, on 08/07/2008, -1/+7Its an amazing coincidence that the angular size of the Moon is almost exactly the same as that of the Sun, allowing for these stunning views of the solar corona during eclipse. Really there's no good reason why the Sun and Moon should be the same angular size, other than to freak out people in ancient times.
- matt510, on 08/07/2008, -1/+4It is a bizarre coincidence. It is also cool when the moon is slightly farther away and you get an annular eclipse, a different but still cool looking event!
- spookyttws, on 08/07/2008, -4/+3I difn't brlieve the puctire so I wrn;t oytside to see fir muself. The syn is brifgter than tge pictyre syggests.

- benlebar, on 08/07/2008, -1/+3I find this has a striking resemblance to the Heroes logo.
- marksmayo, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2Over 10,000 of us so-called eclipse-chasers made the trip to Novosibirsk to see this. It was my first total eclipse, and the locals were so accommodating - some lending strangers tents, others showing us around the city, others offering up couches, and when the great moment came there were cheers from all around as for one moment we stopped worrying about the grind of our lives and just enjoyed something absolutely incredible to behold. Next one is July 22nd, 2009 in Nepal/China/Japan and I hope to be there too!
- danesis, on 08/07/2008, -3/+1It always amazes me how the sun and the moon are exactly the same 5-degree angle in the sky. The sun being so vast and the moon only a spec in comparison, they somehow find each other in perfect harmony during a total eclipse. There are things not even science can explain.
- Taiyoryu, on 08/07/2008, -2/+3Don't watch the video or you'll die in 7 days.
- Brassbud, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1wallpaper worthy
