- nottidredd, on 10/11/2007, -5/+38yea that was a bit unexpected. thought the videos were somehow related as if this kid got raped by 1000 rockets at once.

- Flashman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10"Dozens arrested at Austin baseball match for singing about the rockets' red glare."
- fuzzmeister, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10That's going to be a bitch to clean up...
- PrometheuZ, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Yeah I'm surprised launching model rockets is still legal...I would expect 'Homeland Security' to come down hard.
- thebigkevdogg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7the youtube video says: "Electric matches" were used in place of standard igniters to guarantee success.
- supspn, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8Very cool. Way to go scouts!!
- nixonrichard, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Yeah, who would have thought Texas was AGAINST sexual assault?
- JohnnyRad, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6thanks for posting this, i was wondering why there was a sudden influx of dorks in town this weekend!
- nathanwalker, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Hell, I live in Austin. I haven't heard anything about this till now. Note to self: keep up on local events.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I loved model rocketry as a kid - I'm glad to see it is still alive and well. Hey, they even have a name for people who were into as a kid - left the hobby - and get back into in their later years: BAR's (Born Again Rocketeers). How about that.

- TubaTechno, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I live in Austin as well. Would have been awesome to witness seeing how I used to dabble in rocketry as well.
- BruceBogtrotter, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5aww. i wanted them to explode.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2How come I can always watch the Ads with these websites but when it comes to showing the actual content I get nothing??
- skyfire1, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Reminds me of Gundam Wing.
- dimsumx, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5And that's the closest we'll ever see to a Robotech Veritech missle deployment... :D
- leavemealone347, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah I went to this it was cool.
- zetec, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1that was awesome.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3what! no explosions? :(

- rustyspoon, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4does anyone know how they were ignited? detcord?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Cool, but would of been better had 965 rockets accidentally hit the crowed.
- sillykalcifer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2that word made me giggle

The white cloud around the rocket's mid-section is a Prandtl-Glauert Cloud. Here's an excellent tutorial that explains the P-G Cloud phenomena: http://fluidmech.net/tutorials/sonic/prandtl-glauert-clouds.htm - Canuck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1They should make the record interesting and add the clean up time. Launch, find and clean up 1000 rockets in 30 minutes.
- gemlarin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2buried for not using whistlers.
- bstolzberg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1wow, good for them. the kid in all of us wants to be in the next one.
- beckspace, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0they did it! finally someone in this world have balls to fire a thousand rockets at the same time... I ll sleep in peace now. But that was the best shot?
- biff198, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1At first, I thought they were Bottle rockets, and I thought "well, that was boring". Then I noticed they were coming down on parachutes, and suddenly, realizing they were MODEL rockets, my respect for them went way up like, well, a rocket...
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Only 5 duds out of 1,000. That's pretty good rocket building. Now how many of the parachutes actually opened and how many made it to the ground in one piece?
- AnotherThought, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1cool idea, but what a waste, can't see anything once fired, should have done it at night
- stickywheelz, on 10/11/2007, -5/+5The only way you can get kids off the couch away from the x-box and playstation these days. Let em play with small class explosives.
- human2dotcom, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Ah, they barely beat the record that was unofficially recorded last year: http://www.plasterblaster.com/LaunchReport.html
- wiremonkeymommy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3all that setup and clean up work and no "BANG" or "BOOM"?!? yaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnn.... zzzzzzzz
- sotopheavy, on 10/11/2007, -6/+5I was in town and I missed it... darn.
- bonexaw, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3Estes made a ***** load on that record breaking
- mogus, on 10/11/2007, -6/+5Anyone have a YouTube link?
- captainLAGER, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2it is a good thing they have flags there, lest they forget in what country and state they are.
- PrometheuZ, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Ahhhh, model rockets! I remember firing one off with a mouse in it way back when. Unfortunately the parachute didn't deploy.
- goerg, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2wanna have this as alternative fire for the unreal3 rocketlauncher
- NeoCortex, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3Cool video. Would have been better with a flock of seagulls, though. (Either the bird or the band. I'm not particular.)
- bonexaw, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2My guess is that they are Estes brand (or the like) and hence detonated with like 6 Volts which heats up a small charge
