- carbonetc, on 10/12/2007, -5/+66They're easily explained. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+54Everybody knows Roswell was Zoidberg being apprehended by the military because Fry stuck metal in the microwave.
- Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -3/+42Beuhler?
Beuhler? - DuoPros, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35Carl Sagan. He believed that if space is very nearly (or effectively) infinite, as it probably is, there is no doubt at all whether there is other life in the universe. That is also what I believe. To quote his book 'Contact'; "if there was no life out there, it would be a terrible waste of space."
Its logic people, pure and simple.
But I'm pretty sure nearly all UFO photos are fabricated. There's life out there, its just so insanely far away we could never possibly reach them, or them us. - asdffds, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35I want to believe.
- guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -22/+51There is more physical evidence of extraterrestrial life than of any God.

- spidermanspants, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31It's selfish to think we're the only "intelligent" beings in all of the galaxies upon galaxies out there
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29@23r17i05o42n - "I don't believe. I have a brain."
That's just ridiculous.
If you actually used that brain, you'd realize that it's moronically pretentious to assume that we're the only life forms in the entire universe capable of making a space ship.
The whole UFO phenomenon might just be crap, but closing your mind to the possibility is just ignorance. - an7agonist, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Mulder?
- Lutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22That's what they want you to believe.
- CeeJayDK, on 10/12/2007, -8/+30I believe in Unidentified Flying Objects but not in Alien Saucers.
That's said ... I find it interesting that some of the UFO's look similar.

- threemagic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+26Is it selfish to believe we aren't the only "intelligent" being but to find it impossible to grasp someone traveling millions of lightyears to just "peek" at us?

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Trying to predict what a truly 'alien' intelligence would do, or not do, is a fool's game. Their motivations & activities would likely be completely beyond our ability to understand. Their brains would have evolved on an alien world, under completely different conditions, would work on principles totally unlike ours, would probably not seem 'logical' to us.
We do not even understand the intelligence of sentient beings that evolved on our *own* planet - cetaceans (dolphins, whales, etc), so what hope would we have with true extraterrestrials?
They might well be visiting here, but could have as much interest in establishing contact with us as we have of setting up diplomatic relations with the African Mountain Gorilla. - fnaqzna, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20I believe that extra terrestrial aliens traveled a minimum of four light years just so they could abduct George and Martha from their Rambler and then probe them.
Sure... it sounds plausible. - orientis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18"to find it impossible to grasp someone traveling millions of lightyears to just "peek" at us?"
Makes incredible assumptions about the motivations of possible alien life. I haven't ever seen any real evidence of alien visitations, but to discount the idea based upon anthropomorphic ideals of intent is quite ludicrous and just as irrational as the tin-foil brigade.
I find that people believe what they want to believe, no matter the evidence. - dimdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Unidentified 404 Object
- threemagic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Fox: Do you think it's a coincidence that all these UFO picture sites including dugg mirror went down at the same time?
Scully: Fox, we are on a geek driven website and these are pictures of UFO's
Fox: Try to be a little more open minded, Scully. - MetalUnderShock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Is it just me or do UFO's keep getting sleeker with time. I mean, I remember the first UFO picture I saw was a big fat clunker. Now UFO's are getting slim and better looking as time goes by. I think the car fashion industry got to the aliens.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11"But I'm pretty sure nearly all UFO photos are fabricated. There's life out there, its just so insanely far away we could never possibly reach them, or them us."
An Alien civilization could be ahead of us, the same, or behind. Many people seem to forget that ahead of us can mean a million or even billion years ahead of us. They'd have technologies that we can't even dream of. They could use energy levels we can barely fathom and they could travel any distance in a relatively short amount of time by bending space without breaking the laws of physics (that is unless our laws are flawed).
We too can travel a linear distance faster than the speed of light (by bending space) if we could meet the energy requirements. - greymarketbrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I BELEIVE
in photoshop! - disconnec, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13If we had the means, I'm sure we'd travel as far as possible just to take a peek, actually.
- teddyrux, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I believe it.
- gfindlay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Scully: Hey, I was going to go Christmas shopping for your present tonight. What do you want this year?
Fox: The truth, Scully, all I want is the truth... and a pony.

Since when do cosmologists think the universe is infinite? This sort of flies in the face of the Big Bang Theory, doesn't it? (if the universe started expanding a finite time ago, with a finite speed limit, c, it can only be of finite size now) It's really big, yes, but not that big. - ZeroG52, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10OK, brain exercise time!
1. Think of the most aerodynamic shape you can.
2. Think of the stealthiest, non-angular lifting body that you can.
3. Imagine an internal engine that can be swiveled 360 degrees very quickly.
4. Imagine that this craft is unmanned to allow for greater than 9g maneuvering.
5. This craft is made of similar material to the stealth fighter (carbon fiber, etc.)
What do you think this would look like?
Aliens do not visit our planet, but UFO's do exist, because they are simply unidentified flying objects. - Robboblob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I believe in U.F.O.s as in experimental aircraft/unexplained aerial phenomena.
I believe in Aliens as in life on other planets
but i don't believe in little green men visiting our planet in super fast phallic craft turning cows inside out. - Neiby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8There's plenty of evidence for the existence of alien spacecraft. It just seems so far out that it's hard to even give the idea a chance. Take a look at this site, for example:
http://www.disclosureproject.org/
Read some of the interviews and briefing documents available there. Those people are very highly credible, and some of them came forward at great personal risk. It's okay to be skeptical, but don't be so cynical that you close your mind off completely. There really is something to this and it deserves further investigation. - 98acura, on 10/12/2007, -14/+22you are an idiot
- rockefeller, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Digg me down, wrong thread.
- StarCrusher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Why not? Thousands of people go to YouTube to see some moron fall on his ass.

What does atheism have to do with UFO saucers and extraterrestrial civilization? - guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Too much LDS.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7These photographers are talented. I mean, to catch a hubcap flying through the air like that they HAD to have been quick on the draw!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6If we had the means to visit other intelligent life and we knew exactly where they were, do you think we would do it? Even if they weren't as advanced as us, they could still add much to our collective knowledge.
- SoundJudgment, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Site is down. No doubt the Aliens did it.
- rockefeller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@Nadinengland
I think about it every night and day - Technopundit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I like the ones where people in the dark look astonished and point at things. The programs claim they are seeing ghosts.
Lame, but fun. - paladin144, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@chrishavel sez: "and no, the process of elimination does not count, no matter what Sherlock Holmes says"
Really? So we should suspend the rules of logic just because you don't want to consider the possibility of off-world visitors? Interesting... Who are the real loonies around here?
Personally, I think the fact that there are billions upon billions of stars just in our own galaxy is a pretty good indicator that we're not alone. We may not recognize that life as something similar to ourselves, but that doesn't mean it does not exist.
Of course, whether they're visiting us is another question entirely, but it wouldn't surprise me. It seems like as soon as we think we've got this world figured out a new doorway opens with a million new questions. Going to space is the next step in mankind's evolution. I wonder what we'll find there... - Ledgehanger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The aliens must have some futuristic (although rather ineffective...) cloaking technology!!!
Okay, either that or only the poorly focused shots remain "unidentified"... - anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@foobar5892
There is an art, it says, or rather a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. Pick a nice day, it suggests, and try it. The first part is easy. All it requires is simply the ability to throw yourself forward with all your weight, and the willingness not to mind that it's going to hurt. That is, it's going to hurt if you fail to miss the ground. - Avataren, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@jthen: Actually science does not rule out that the universe might be infinite today, even if it was finite in the past. The accelerating expansion of the universe has long since created an event horizon, obscuring most of the universe forever, much like a black hole. There are no known reasons why expansion can not expand to "infinity", this article explains it quite well http://www.ncsu.edu/felder-public/kenny/papers/cosmo.html
