- positron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i'll be sticking with ipodder lemon. never had any problems with it myself. i tried the ipodderx beta and it was just too bloated for my tastes. came loaded with a bunch of RSS feeds i didn't want and immediately started downloading podcasts i didn't subscribe to on first run. no tool tips made figuring out the controls a pain in the ass. ipodder lemon is simple and does what it needs to and ONLY what it needs to. let me know when ipodderx becomes a bit more friendly and bloat-free... and it doesn't cost $25
- August, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1iPodderX has been in Public Beta for a few weeks. This is the final version and fixes a number of problems that showed up in the early Betas.
- nicklinus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yo Kevin where you been, ipodderX has been out for windows like almost a month now!
- maverick999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It would be even nicer if it were free...
- natelv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is the final version, it has been beta for a while.
but
$24.95 ... pass! - bkaraff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good timing. I was just getting sick of iPodder freaking out.
Why isnt there/is there a decent podcast mgr app like this for Linux? - PercyKittenz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There are only a couple things that iPodder Lemon doesn't have to make me totally happy with it, and there's nothing to tell me if iPodderX supports those features. I tried out the beta when it came out and made requests for those things on the forum, but the best I got out of the devs was "we'll look into it". I guess I'll keep my $25 for now.
- CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I tried it and went back to iPodder Lemon after 15mins. Not worth $25 either.
- jedimasterdave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why would I pay for something to copy audio to my IPOD. Its Insanity. Whats next charging for Sync software for my PDA?
- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's one of the most popular podcasting clients on earth (Mac), and today was the official Windows release. If you don't think it's news worthy, just report it - if it hits enough reports digg will automatically remove it.
Digg on! - white, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0damn i shoulda bought it when it was in beta, it was $13
- deadpixel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"OnFire34"
go digg something lamer... - Harlequn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is this any good ? a friend told me it sux
- TechCowboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I bought the first beta version for less than 13 bucks....best investment I've ever made.
- Nate_LapT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Blah, been out over a month for windows, Actualy didnt care much for it though it seemed to work better than Itunes, for the 3 Hours I used that. the beta seemed to eat alot of ram, and I mean a lot. maybe they fixed it. Also $20something Bleh. Most people that use these programs cant afford that. make a free stripped down version or just free in general. make profit elsewhere. :P
- bwmiller72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have a high tolerance for people saying whatever they want on a blog. But, I'm wondering if anyone here would like to have some intelligent conversation about iPodderX. After trying ipodder and iTunes I decided to give iPodderX's free trial a go, even though I am reluctant to pay for software these days, trying to go open source or freeware whenever possible. But, I don't mind paying a modest price for something that just works when the alternatives don't meet my needs. That's what led me to IpodderX - iTunes' handling of podcasts is OK, but the options are simply limited.
Initially, iPodderX frustrated me to be honest. But I just didn't get the interface. The more I came back and played with it, the more I "got" it. And now I really like the interface! It makes since how things are laid out. So far it's definitely the best app I've tried for downloading podcasts, at least for my needs.
I have two questions I need to answer though, before I shell out the money. One, it's clearly better than iTunes, _but_ what about _other_ competing programs? Like this one that was just on CommandN :
http://www.trinfinitysoftware.com/seagull.shtml
Currently, the site is down BTW, likely because of being on CommandN! :)
This one, Seagull3, is OSX only, but what if a windows version comes out? Which one am I really gonna want?
Two, I was all for giving it a go at 12.47 during the Beta. And while I don't think 24.95 is too much at all, now the price has essentially doubled for me. Is it still worth it? I just don't want to shell that out and then something better comes out next month. Next year, no big deal. But next month would hurt! - domc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You have to install .NET
I'm passing on this. - PottsyNZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is it just nagware anyways? Speaking of nagging, stop dissing Kevin Rose, he can cross promote as much as he wants.
- moiety, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried the Beta. I wasn't particularly impressed. Ported apps that don't conform to the platform their running on != attractive or inuitive. I'll stick with iPodder lemon.
- JuliusErving, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I didn't even digg this story. I just hate people who are illogical about their complaints. Also deadpixel, you could have given a little more thought to your response. Why was the new version of opera announced on digg when it WAS NOT FREE? People like you are what make message boards a real waste of time.
- maggoty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ipodder lemon is definetly the better product. Definetly less bloat and a bit more responsive I think too, plus free, which wins me over most of the time.
- reggiedarden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wish these podcasting clients would load the podcasts into the podcast section of my iPod. I like to have all the podcast in one place with the ability to resume them. I know iPodderX can convert them but I like that iTunes does it automatically but I don't like having to add all my podcasts into iTunes. I guess I'm getting too picky.
- deadpixel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0everyone should dig a lame story… it's fun entertainment for the rest of us. and i like getting to vent on people i don't know.
it's not like it really matters anyway. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Removing digg for pushing ads as news, shame on you kevin
- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kevin, with you're wealth of knowledge, why do you still pay for iPodderX?! There's so many free clients out there, and almost all of them are better. I like iPodder Lemon. It's even open source.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0also reporting as spam
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm sticking with bashpodder http://linc.homeunix.org:8080/scripts/bashpodder/
- motionblur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heh....Kevin gets pwned by his own creation!
- JuliusErving, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those who are saying this is spam or advertising, what's the difference between submitting this and say the new version of itunes? I don't see people claiming spam on submissions like that.
- deadpixel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"For those who are saying this is spam or advertising, what's the difference between submitting this and say the new version of itunes? I don't see people claiming spam on submissions like that."

- deadpixel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0pfffffft $24
