- ShadowPt2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Guys, god forbid someone's dumbfounded by all these new acronyms and asks an innocent qustion... there's no need to tear into him.
- jmcglinn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Symfony is a famework for writing web applications. One of it's (many) features are helpers for easily building in AJAX functionality.
- lqqkout4elfy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10SymFony is a model-view-controller framework written in PHP. Its role is the same of Rails to Ruby. Ajax is a web client to web server communication technology that may or may not be included in a web application in a MVC framework.
.NET 1.1 and 2.0 are Microsoft technologies that have nothing to do with PHP (unless someone has made a PHP bytecode compiler for the .NET platform - who knows? They have one for Ruby :) - Skeuomorph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Twelve man-months could be 1 guy working for 12 months, or 12 guys working for one month. But they said they started in June, and it's now October, so figure 3 guys times 4 months = 12 man-months.
- jmcglinn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This is awesome news. Congratulations to the Symfony team!
- borfast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Congratulations, Symfony!
Keep up the excellent work! :) - Pests, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5pear install symfony/symfony
How can it be easier? - 0KonTroL0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Awesome, YAH for open source. :D
- SlickRick12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Because Yahoo is a strong supporter of PHP.
- thegoodtomchi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Actually there is a delete folder option. Just select the folder on the left, and click edit. On that page there will be all the options available to change a folder, including delete.
- adolfojp, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Wait.... what? What? No. Really. Huh?
Symfony compared to AJAX?
PHP framework a step up from a C#, VB framework? - Po0py, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks, thegoodtomchi. I was confused as I clicked on the folder in the left panel and then tried clicking on edit on the right panel. The edit link was actually on the left panel next to the folder all along. Hard to spot as it is just a small text link and not an icon.
Thank you for your help. - trib4lmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm pretty sure you can access the .NET Framework in PHP, *searches*...
It seems Phalanger [ http://www.php-compiler.net/ ] is the one I was thinking of. - coopaq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1http://beta.bookmarks.yahoo.com/
- Po0py, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I know its still in beta but its a frustrating experience. If you upload a wrong set of bookmarks and you want to delete them en masse you have to do it manually. There is no delete all option. Nor is there a delete folder option. Odd, considering it says it has in the help files. Need a lot of work, imho.
- bdude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1This must be a major coup for Symfony. I'm more of a codeigniter (www.codeigniter.com) man myself - easier to install
- Eleo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I wonder why they chose this over Rails or Django.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Did.. did.. did anyone understand that gibberish? WTF?!?!?
- blueigloo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Are you serious?
- PAJK, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2But why did it take Yahoo! a year?
- Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -23/+8What exactly is Symfony in comparison with AJAX? Similar or an entirely different beast? Is it just the next step up in the framework like .net 1.1 and now it is at .net 2.0?
