Improved visual view of admin panel and no more useless preinstalled plugins.
A backup plugin preinstalled and a spam filter perinstalled and that is all! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Brandon: I don't know If they are going to built in a spam filter or not, but you know that Akismet and Spam Karma 2 are spammer killers right? Akismet is a very good Wordpress plugin that blocks spam, and Spam Karma 2 is even better!
- MellerTime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nocturnal: It was for the 1.x series. Delete everything but the wp-content folder (which is where any custom stuff you've done (themes, plugins, etc.) are stored) and upload the new versions. Then run any applicable upgrade / installation script.
- flump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0do they have a proper template system yet?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Flump: What do you mean by "proper"? It's all good!
- personman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Still no support for multiple blogs on one installation? I'll stick with b2evolution (and yes, it has stats and spam filtering built in).
- drawab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use WP 1.5 and spam karma 2 - SK2 has me covered nearly 99% if not a 100
- ericl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've used Bad Behavior for spam filtering and have had great results.
- Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In order to upgrade a blog, just delete all the files and reconfig the wp-config.php file and reupload? Is it that simple?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hat do you need it for when it says that i might run into bugs hen using...
i thought update's were for Bug-Killing... - ReinMasamuri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Back up now, works just fine
- Dru383, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Decided to take the plunge since that's what site backups are for! Upgraded without a hitch and as was said above it's a great release and the included spam and backup plugins included are working a treat.
- wormeyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah showed up in my rss feed as well weird eh?
- dtrinh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone manage to get a copy before the server went out? XD
- balazs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Having some problems at my blog: http://theminiblog.co.uk/
The readme ile in the zip shows it to be wp 1.52 though. weird. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0make sure to read the readme.html so you can know to run upgrade.php in wp-admin
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i have to agree with the spam and backup included with the install, this is a great release. Still beta thought.
- Axim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0can't beat the plugin system, my blog tracks current music im listening to, current reading lists, upcoming birthdays/events, random pictures and webcam feed on sidebar and weather on the fly with cute icons

http://mu.wordpress.org multiblog wordpress - Dru383, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I make my own. I've done several themes but I started out just by modifying the kubrick theme that comes with wordpress by default. It's decent enough that you can modify it to suit your needs and you don't have to start out from scratch.
- sidyadav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, same here. I've been using WordPress since 1.2 on my own template -- was pretty hard when I upgraded from 1.2 to 1.5 -- with the new template system -- to switch, but once I did it I didn't have any problems and WordPress 2.0 works fine as well.
Seriously, I think people who haven't/won't use it have a lot of thoughts in their mind -- most of which are untrue. So it's PHP and only those who use it know the true power of WordPress. WordPress is excellent, and I'm saying this as an x-typepad/moveabletype user (and for a short while Blogger).
[1] It doesn't have a built-in spam prevention system, but the ones available as plugins (and very easy to install) are I think some of the best ones available to man.
[2] It has an excellent template system. You can also download ready-made templates and modify them. One click install also.
[3] Upgrading WordPress is just as MellerTime said. Replace all the files, except the wp-content and run wp-admin/upgrade.php.
[4] When installed with the WYSIWYG plugin (which comes with an image manager) it's amazing how time saving it is.
[5] If you think its one of those almost non-existen blogging systems which no one except for its makers' 1 or 2 friends use, famous blogger Robert Scoble just switched to this.
Frankly, I don't see a reason not to use it. But then again, longtime users of Typepad, Blogger, MT, b2evolution, boastMachine, Drupal think the same. - Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Updated without a hitch. Do you guys customize your own template or use someone else's?
- Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm about to upgrade to 2.0 in just a few. I'm currently uploading all the files to my server. Will be done shortly. I hope everything goes smoothly.
- brandonhines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does that mean better spam filtering? Becuase that's what killed WordPress for me.
- Katsushiro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those complaining about spam on WP blogs, please, go check out Spam Karma 2. It's an incredibly powerful (and free) plugin, I've been using SK2 for somewhere near a year now, with 99.9% or higher catch rate. I get over 100 spam attempts per post per day, according to my logs, and not a single one gets through. The closest one ever got to passing the filter was one that went into the moderation filter instead of the spam bin, and I just told it that it was spam and never had to deal with it again. And in the year I've used it I've only had 1 false positive, and that one also went into the moderation list, not the spam bin. I approved the comment, and it automatically learned and never had any false positives since. Freakin' brilliant.
- redrover, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Odd how silent the developers are on this.
- brandonhines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0xerocool: Thanks for the plug-ins. I was using some a spam filer that was pretty beat. I can't recall waht it was, but Akismet and Spam Karma 2 don't ring a bell. I'll have I'll give them a go-round. Thanks! :)
- Lazaryn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ummm, guys? I've been using the Wordpress 2.0 FINAL for several weeks now.
The link posted in the Digg article links to a forum thread that started two months ago and was locked on the 5th December, 2005.
The final/stable version of Wordpress 2.0 was released on December 31st, 2005, and information can be found about it here:

Why is it in the RSS menu?! - maverick999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Akismet will block 99% of your wordpress spam. http://akismet.com
- recipher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just installed a test blog on my server, the new admin interface rocks!
- winAMPED, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it works nicely. I think people with user permissions that dont align with the new permission system will have to edit their users to avoid a small DB error though.

http://lyceum.ibiblio.org - Multi-user, multi-blog wordpress for the enterprise. - Lorelle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WordPressMU is not a multi-blog version of WordPress. It is MU - Multi-user and that version is only for those who want to host bloggers. There are plugins that will help you set up multi-blogs very easily from one database, or you can easily install multiple versions of WordPress on one site, though it will require a database for each installation.
And remember, this is a beta test version not an official update. It is not for the light hearted. - zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0meh?
