- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+124Honestly, if Steve Jobs was signing iPods, they'd be going for thousands on eBay.
I think it's really cool that Microsoft is doing something like this. If you don't want it, good for you. But some people like that sort of stuff. Let them spend their money. - moofree, on 10/12/2007, -1/+101Bill Gates' handwriting is Comic Sans. I swear.
- chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -4/+84Sounds like a deal.
Where do I send the three dollars? - MrStabby, on 10/12/2007, -11/+64It's got a great acronym too...
WinVULNSE - gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -7/+49I'm going to start selling a copy of Ultimate that is signed by me, your Windows Vista beta tester. Any takers?
- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+47@Stabby
It is just "Windows Vista Ultimate - Signature Edition". It says so on the box...I don't know where the "Limited Numbered" (which isn't even proper English) came into play. - Yarnage, on 10/12/2007, -35/+76That's very inaccurate. Did you know Apple copied Microsoft on several features and that Vista has more features and capabilities than OS X 10.4 and, so far, 10.5? Do you know just _how many_ features Microsoft announced for Vista over 4 years ago and then Apple built them into Tiger and starting saying ***** about Microsoft coping them.
- Yarnage, on 10/12/2007, -12/+51I've been running Vista everyday at my office for over a month. Not only do I use almost the entire Macromedia suite but I also use the Adobe suite and even Visual Studio. guess what? ZERO PROBLEMS
Stop trying to spread FUD - srg13, on 10/12/2007, -7/+35"Do you know just _how many_ features Microsoft announced for Vista over 4 years ago..."
To bad half of them were cut... - Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -6/+30I am not paid by microsoft, however I am going to digg you down anyway because you are an idiot, I presume many other non-MS employees will do the same
so yes, we will watch that 'puppy get nuked' however it will only unfortunatly fuel your conspiricy theory (but you still deserve it so who am I to deny that) - lazyleo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Smart way of engaget to make money ...they have a amzon affiliate link...
- WestDC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23Billy's arm sure will be sore after 20,000 signatures
- Troopy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21wtf are you talking about?
- secleinteer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20How about we stop arguing about whether or not Vista's broken a significant amount of programs? Each individual uses different programs, so you just can't generalize about this.
- ElMoselYEE, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25@GawtMilk
adding extra words makes it sound rediculous, because otherwise it isn't. - SyDIGG, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22Someone should get a copy for flag564 ...it would be an early Christmas present for him.
- 0004, on 07/04/2008, -3/+17to China, i think. lol.
- vuke69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14A rollover hazard?
- EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Signed by an autopen more likely.
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17You can't run Office 2007 either, and you most definately do not have a decent Media Center system.
- kazuhima, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15gtfo
- keegan3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12This is probably why Vista took so long to come out, becasue Bill Gates had to sign 20000 limited editions Vista boxes :)
- testdrivemedia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14@ PeakAction:
I feel sorry for you. Because Windows XP SP2 and Vista both work just fine in my house.
And at work, we run Mac's for the design side of things, and Windows XP for the systems that run the plate making processes, and also the Printing Presses themselves.
I won't disagree with your statement that OSX always works, as most of the time it does. But i will disagree with the statement Windows never does, as both at home, and at work, we never have any problems at all. Dunno what's wrong with yours, but perhaps running a virus scanner and a ad-ware removal tool might help. - GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10He's either a huge dork or a serial killer, I promise.
- Claw787, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I doubt Billy will sign 19,999 times......
Probably a print. But the package looks cool though. - Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I agree, Im running Vista aswell, and my dad runs it on his laptop, the only problems I have had is that Sygate doesnt work (dam symantic bastards) and my dads obscure brand TV tuner card doesnt have vista drivers yet (though some of the companies other tuners do so it probably isnt far off)
other then that, not a problem
oh and your argument about program incompatibility is the same that was used when XP came out. do you still tell people to use win98 over XP because of program compatiblity, 98 is superiour because more programs work with it and it has more drivers? it uses less system resources and thus games run better on it? - keegan3d, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10@GawtMilk
The numbers are under the logo, "00000 | 20000" So this box is the first box out of the 20000 that will be signed by Mr. Gates. Or maybe this is just a mock-up, which would explain why it is number 00000 and not 00001. - Flawless, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9(Damn... I replied to the wrong comment. Bury the one above.)
If you want Steve Jobs' autograph, buy an original 128k Macintosh on eBay. His signature is on the casing.
http://www.folklore.org/StoryView.py?story=Signing_Party.txt - DocDEB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Oooo...ooooo... does it come with a 4 HD-DVD set "The Making of Windows Vista"?
- se1zure, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Ohhh, I see. THats why Vista was so delayed, Bill Gates had to sign 20,000 copies...
- atbnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7After seeing 'b0rked' throughout the article, I pretty much tossed the author's credibility out the window.
Is Linux a more user friendly OS? Yeah I didn't think so.
Each has it's own use and purpose. This debate is really getting annoying. - testdrivemedia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8It seems to me like they are still doing rather well. OSX and Linux's market shares don't come close. Yeah they may have a monopoly and all that crap... but they are still in more household's and business's than their competition.
- Fipe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This thread's actually about Vista Signature Edition, not about the Zune.
- AM088, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Where's the torrent link?
- third_eye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If it was HAND signed by Gates, I could see it selling more. But a printed limited edition version really has no value other than to Microsoft employees.
- spudge, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12@Yarnage
You are very right. Not giving details, but I saw Longhorn roughly 4 years ago while it was still under development and it was definitely far ahead of the times. Unfortunately it wasn't finished, and many of the features it packed, even back then, were released by others. - muty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Or maybe a sig by RMS himself lol
- Giga, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@testdrivemedia
Your comment read to me like "yes, they are a monopoly, but at least they have a monopoly!". - bg2500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's like the Eddie Bauer edition of the Ford Explorer.
- atbnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No considering you can pre-order it on amazon.com
- BlackAdderIII, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"""Or maybe a sig by RMS himself lol"""
Hahaha, now THAT would be worth some money. :-)
...I wonder what he'd sign it?
"With deepest sympathy... RMS"
Or maybe "I'm sorry for your loss... RMS" - Rapishorrid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Microsoft.Windows.Vista.Final-BillGates is good enough for me.
- FrankT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Vista Ultimate Greasy Hair Edition: now with more cooties.
- ryanblock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hmm, that affiliate must have been left in there by our tipster. We absolutely do not ever do anything like that; in fact, generally we make it a practice never to link to retailers. I added a different link, hopefully that's affiliate free.
- devilsanthem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Well he is a rock star in terms of the philanthropic efforts he put in from the money he earned through Microsoft. No one can match that but Buffett.
- boson3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Somehow I pictured that would be like going to the local PD and having the Chief hand-sign a pair of handcuffs for you, but I couldn't think of a funny way to say it.
- IronChef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I want my copy of Win 2000 signed by Bill Gates. Now that would be worth something. Let's see 1.5 years without a re-install now that's a OS.
- skywake, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8@Ramble
there is nothing I can't do in Linux that I used to do in windows
.... except games, but thats what the Wii is for
as for media...
Amarok and VLC are more then enough for anyones needs
far better then any windows solution I have seen
but I will add....
Vista does look pretty damn sweet
and I will probably end up running it on my desktop - Rapishorrid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Or I could just digg you down instead.
- soccernamlak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5So when is Steve Jobs going to start signing Leopard DVDs?
