That theme is pleasing to the eye in a static context, but I really worry about the usability of it. I'm switching to Linux for various reasons ,Micro$soft you won't get me :-)

However, the transparency in the screenshot is much better than transparency from WindowBlinds. I do think that the person who posted the photos did Photoshop the pictures. Microsoft would probably change Windows Media Player quite a bit more before they release it.

Beat me to it :) - tfedullo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0am i the only one who noticed this, in the first one (ie 7) under the system properties tab, M$ built in a key changer!? i don't see any reason you would want to change ur os's product key unless u have a hacked version, this also could be to switch between the 7 different versions of the os, but then you would need files, wouldn't you?
- debian_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple may know how to woo other OS users with eye candy, but they definitely have the substance to back the style up. It's not just that OSX looks good, it's that the bundled applications are easy to use, feature rich, and flow beautifully with working with the OS.
I'd still say for the majority of at least semi-geeks out there to go Linux though. I mean sure you can spend the extra money on the sexy Mac hardware and hot OS, but really, how do you expect to win any internet cool points without being able to brag that you [compiled blah blah | config'ed whatever | etc].
Anyone who has seen the Luminosity demo videos know that eye candy is possible on Linux, and that it's even cooler than Windows.
Comes down to right tool for the job really, but between OSX and Linux, it's getting harder to justify another Windows upgrade. - deepeey1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Guys and Gals,
You are wasting your time. Get a PC running Linux. Then you get the goodness of both Windows and Mac OS combined at a very lucrative deal with free upgrading and bug fixes for life. Mac OSX is nothing but Unix disguised with eye candy. If you are buying an apple machine, buy it for the superior hardware and not for the OS.

I am sorry but they have far from superior hardware. They used to have a good PowerPC chip for rendering etc. Well there latest Powerpc chip lost its edge against Intel and especially AMD in that department too. Their cases just don't work, look good but very poorly designed. They use Foxcon, a....well generic brand. Lets try ASUS or something? Eh? To top off the cupcake you can hardly overclock them.
