Windows Vista 5456 Released - New Mouse Cursors Too!

neosmart.net — Microsoft has just released a new build following the lackluster Beta 2. Build 5456 has a new Aero, better UAP that isn't (as) annoying, and best of all for the first time since Windows 3.0: new Cursors!

      Envy & jealousy rears it's ugly head. Ironically, you're probably more likely to end up with cancer. Mac users are able to login get our work done and logout quick and easy, while win users struggle day in and day out with an OS that doesn't let the user get anything done efficiently, thus the user spends more time in front of the monitor soaking up cancer causing radiation. Have fun with chemo...

      So, you're to much of a simpleton to operate Windows without a dummies book? Don't be ashamed, a lot of people are. I by no means have had any kind of troubles that you speak. Windows has run quite nicely on this machine for 4 years without any problems, in fact I havn't even had a virus in 2 years, and my first spyware scan in six months came up clean of all but one tracking cookie.
      I know what those ads on the apple website like to tell you, but propaganda will live on.

      I forgot to mention earlier, cursors are probably the most minor change in vista, look up the actual changes, I know it can be confusing and difficult to look past the digg community and your apple forums biased opinions. But there's a website called Google, http://google.com, try searching for vista information. Or ask your dad for help.

      Oh and by the way, LCD monitors don't give off any harmful radiation to my knowledge and even CRT's are quite within acceptable tollerance so I'm probably in the clear. Thanks for your concern. I'll leave you and your apple alone for private time now, use protection.

      What's really telling about your posts is the amount of anger and frustration you show. HMMMM, wonder why that is? I guess it must be due to your "trouble free" windoze computing experience. You mentioned scanning for spyware and your 2 years of running windows virus free...I don't even own antivirus software! That's another fifteen minutes of my life that I spent on something more important than worrying about the performance of my computer, but hey, you probably don't have anything better to do anyway. Knock yourself out playing with your graphing calculator...

      Of course I have anger, but the anger is at you; or more to the point people like you. You use a mac, whoopde-freakn do, you come into a Windows Vista comment section to tell people of your 'superior operating system'. I use them too, I'm on one as I speak, they're nice, they get the job done. But you know what, so does windows! It does everything I want it to just as fast and easily as my mac.

      I have antivirus software, I have spyware software. Why? Because it's a windows machine, it's a primary target for virus'.

      My mac, what virus writer cares about it? Why do I need to bother with extra software.

      Now, the question of wasting my time... does that software waste my time? No, once a month the automated scan runs in the background, I usually don't notice its going on, then a pop up comes up with results. Ohh scary!

      You have a really twisted view on the world, it's why I can't help but be pissed at anyone who shows your attitude or a similar attitude for some other product. It's why I think the new apple ads are riddiculous, and why the people at Microsoft are idiots for being anti-open source (fear the Communists).

      Woo! Now back to my 'graphing calculator'! Hmm.. no it's late.. maybe I'll play some Oblivion.. wait I can't, I'm on the mac! Damn! I better go to my PC, bye now.

      So you see, I was just defending my chosen platform and those like me who choose to work in an enlightened fashion. Anyway, you've already exposed the source of your militant love for all things Microsloth...GAMES. Buy an xbox, it's alot cheaper. I didn't buy a computer so I could play video games, I picked one up to do work. If I wanted to play games I'd have gotten a playstation. Have fun with your GAMES.

      Ok, so you were defending your platform, cool, but you certainly did a 'dickish' way.

      Hmm why didn't I buy a X-Box? Well I did, but maybe it's because I'd rather have a PC, a superior gaming system in my opinion. I work with my PC probably as much as you hump your Mac (which is assumed to be quite often in this statement).
      My mac is handy with video and rendering. My Debian server is handy for filehosting, webhosting, and the like. My windows computer is handy for my day to day tasks and an occasional game or two. If you think I am loyal to only microsoft, I'm sorry, but you'd be retarded.

      Now maybe the concept of an unbiased opinion in operating systems is a bit hard to grasp, but we're out here, and people like you make our skin crawl, mostly due to the aire of superiority you carry about you-when in reality you're just a gerk.

      Oh and I got a good laugh at the 'Mommy and Daddy' comment because of 'GAMES'. Of course; I play video games so I must be pathetic and live in my parents basement. Ha. Well I'm 17 and have a room upstairs thank you very much. You've got problems man.

      You know what? The greatest part of your reply is that you didn't make any relevant counter points, and merely became nit picky on my writing. It's usually an accepted unwritten rule that when one does this, they already lost.

      You have a girlfriend? Good. Though I was not referring to sex, I was being metaphorical. Referring to a blatant fanboyism. I was going to mention the second 'game over card', so to speak. When one mentions how much sex he gets to imply he is better, but secretly is just a loser, but I realized that wasn't implied.

      I never said I wasn't being a dick, as a matter of fact, I was. I fight fire with fire (jerk with GERK (ha, funny how those silly errors slip by sometimes).

      Obviously I am drastically under educated because of a few spelling mistakes... You really need to lighten up my friend...
      Oh and thank you, I am well aware of a spell checking button, but did not bother, didn't want to be distracted from my 'graphing calculator'. And just stop being such a 'gerk'.

  • Evolve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So... What new Cursors? One difference between the arrow pointer (face it, that's the only one your going to be seeing when you get down to it.) and the arrow pointer i have now is that the 'tail' is slightly and i mean slightly shorter.
    A ring that i guess will turn round when it loads. Pfft sorry I'm not really into having that cursor up, i actually have a PC that can run applications without needing to sit there 'loading' for half a century.

  • evilkat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, this is going to be interesting. On the one hand, cursors haven't really changed since Windows 3.1 except for a few minor face lifts here and there. I haven't seen the screen shots but maybe Vista will do something new with it, because lord knows, this is one aspect of UI that have remained pretty much uncharged since the dawn of time.

    On the other hand, if something as ubiquitous as the mouse cursor is changed in some fundamental way, you'll break your UI since people associate seeing the hour-glass with waiting/loading etc....should be interesting to see what Vista does.

      Did Hadak say he could talk to his chess game? and it works. My speech recogniton on vista 5834 maxes my cpu to 100% then takes so long to think, that if i were to wait i could may as wekk just use the mouse, im hoping this improves as i love the idea, although when i do get it working and i got to show people it stops.

      My freinds think im mad shouting at the screen as they see it, i say im advancing technology for the planet by testing it.

It may leak later, but I don't relish the idea of downloading Vista through peer to peer at all and then having to hide from MS, particularly when I am more interested in actually doing real beta testing.

    I really don't care about mouse cursors. I'm using the same one I have been since Windows 3.1 and I probably will always use it.
