- Nitrogen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2On the plus side to Windows being ugly is the fact that it's generally standard throughout all applications. I hate using an app that doesn't follow basic usability guidelines, and that's the reason I generally despise all-Flash web sites. There are no standards or rules and it's all about making it look pretty instead of function well.
Granted, I've heard Apple has an effective, functional interface, but I haven't ever used it so I can't speak in that respect. I'm comfortable with Windows and because of that experience am generally comfortable with basically any app I install on it - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well Windows really hasn't changed it's appearance since 95. They just slap a new coat of paint on the same car over and over.
- hardcoredj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just because they use it doesn't mean they like using it. It's not as if most employers offer a choice of operating systems you know.
- Lamb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Your right of course, since Microsoft does such a great job at making themselves look bad."
And yet more people use Windows then any other operating system, go figure. - FamilyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, regardless of whether this site is centered on Windows or not, anyone that posts anything negative about Microsoft/Bill Gates/Windows OR Apple/Mac products of any kind are begging for a fight. That's just how it is. You are wasting your time either way.
- Ssullivan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can certainly agree with this article.

Good point. - badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This site is so Windows-centered anyway.
I don't know why someone would post anything negative about Microsoft/Bill Gates/Windows without intentionally trying to start a fight. - SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1mac people always get all uptight and say that windows is "ugly". this is like the guy with the greased back hair, makeup, shaved legs, and a pink shirt that cost $90 making fun of me for wearing a tshirt that i got for free while drunk. all the other pink shirted guys with $50 haircuts will think its hilarious, but most people wont really care.
- Lyphen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Windows needs more bloom and glossy buttons! It'll make EVERYTHING better.
*rolls eyes* - rousehouse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, it's tough being wildly successful and having to support the desktops of the planet. It really ties your hands sometimes.
- WolvenSpectre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All you guys and gall out there trashing Mac because you think it is all flash is ok... if you have used a MacOS and Windows TO THEIR FULL EXTENT for a Good Period of time.
Many of the Technological problems that have plagued the Windows interface were fixed or better planned out (IEmore time and money and experts and testing invested into) beforehand.
Macs have been more expensive, but if you take a Windows system and a comprably set up Mac (remembering that the PowerPC chips are upto 1/3 faster per equvilent clock speed) most of that cost vanishes. It would actually bee cheaper if Mac exclusive parts would sell in even half the volume of PC exclusive parts.
Then again I have met coders that think any GUI and Graphics, baring stuff like photoshop or digital video, is a waste. The quote he kept repeating..."just how fast can you read and type?" - Twelve-60, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Macs r ghey. :(
- hao2lian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Windows needs more bloom and glossy buttons! It'll make EVERYTHING better."
Yes, because Luna doesn't look stupid and sucky and Windows Classic doesn't look like someone repeatedly jammed roadkill and the 1990s into my computer at all. - FamilyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0There's also always that very old saying: "Looks aren't everything", which is what most Mac users are always so concerned about. Lets move on/complain about things that really matter. And don't start griping about blue screens of death and all that junk either. I can't even BEGIN to tell you how long it's been since I've seen one of those. People need to give up on trying to make MS look bad and find something better to do with their time.
- MoonKing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0So it's all good as long as it looks good?
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"People need to give up on trying to make MS look bad and find something better to do with their time."
Your right of course, since Microsoft does such a great job at making themselves look bad.
