Windows Flickr background switcher
johnsadventures.com — Excellent easy tool to use. If you have Flickr account this tool is a must. Point this tool at a flickr tag or set of tags and it will change your background periodically. You can filter by user or just use all user tags. This is probably the coolest tool I've found in the last couple years aside from Flickr.

- lscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool Tool! Thanks for the link
- welvis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude, this rules.
- stephencarmody, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Potentially not work safe.
Setting your tag filter to say "flowers" doesn't necessarily mean you'll be getting all flower backgrounds. hehehe - tabledesk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1why does it take so long for things like this to be developed for windows? It makes no sense. Mac community is so much jumpier at making simple apps
- Wreckk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0That's pretty cool.
I just wish someone would make a fading background changer like in OS 10 already...
It's totally trivial, but a feature I love and would like to have on my PC. - zodiacal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this thing is neat but it takes up too many resources.. could have been programmed a little cleaner... other than that it works great and has a great interface. its burning up 5% of my cpu now with 30MB's of ram!
- Leech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ugh.. nice idea, but lots of resources here too.. :S
- eNthem, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0GREAT STORY! + DIGG!

How? I'm on OSX and I want something simple to do this. - CrankyMcGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0tabledesk - What Mac apps are you referring to? I own a Mac and I find that there are more Flickr apps for PCs...though tickr is pretty cool... List links!
- snarkle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm still waiting for the DirectX/OpenGL screensaver for flickr!
- techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg+
I was actually just looking for a good background switcher. - hass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have tried I think 4 different background changers now and this is the best. Small, simple, and it has all the features I need.
- mooninite, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1*yawn* I can have an animated background with Xgl on Linux. You guys are still using 2D still crap?
- awfulshot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i currently use powertoys XP, but i might check this out
- meefman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Try explaining to your mother why you had a goatse flickr tag.

I am not sure, but I think he is referring to using a website like http://phlikr.3xi.org/ to make the feed readable by iPhoto and then just using system preferences like you normally would to select that album and set it to change your desktop background periodically using those photos. I don't use flickr or iPhoto very much so I don't know how else you could customize it but this seems to get basic functionality. Again I don't use flickr or iPhoto very often so please post if you can make this process easier or more customizable ( there may even be a standalone app that already does this). - phuqju, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great piece of software!! works like a charm!!
- pintong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dugg because it supports flickr *as well as* folders on your hard drive.
- hass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just noticed that if you have two monitors that are different resolutions it will scale the wallpaper to each monitor individually.
- icexe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome...!! digg++++
- allarise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yea very cool.
- rickdiculous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Neat, effective, memory intensive. I will now be uninstalling (25 Megs is too much memory).
- Sushubh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dude it's .net application!
- Goner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0been using 'Winwall' (begware) for a long time for local pictures: http://www.desktopchanger.com/
- cphuntington97, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0still waiting for the windows fading background changer... I don't know if this does that or not.... probably not
- WanderLustMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i was just thinking about something like this yesterday, this is awesome...DIIGGG
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"not safe" is right. Nothing like some Spyware Folks throwing in some of their SPAM into the mix.
Such Spyware that downloads a BSOD onto your desktop as a picture, to make the user think they have an error. But when read closer, it reads that you can remove this by purchasing this "spyware" by purchasing this application...
No Digg here - kitykity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. Works with a proxy too. Very cool. Now if slickr could just incorporate putting the current-screensaver-image as the background, I wouldn't need two separate programs.
- endorphine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great find! And nice software! Digg!
Only uses around 1.5% CPU on my system.
Why does someone always have to complain about FREE software that works well... LOL!
