- demonbaby, on 07/11/2008, -1/+47This list is nice and all, but it fails to mention the most important iPhone app available: Level 9. It makes the Mario jumping sound effect when you jump. That's ALL IT DOES. Epic.
- xObsoletex, on 07/10/2008, -1/+24Anyone else notice that the "German" translation from Talking Phrasebook is actually Spanish?
- rnawky, on 07/11/2008, -1/+16It's called World 9
- dizzydigg, on 07/11/2008, -0/+12The friend nobody likes is you....
- USER1236, on 07/11/2008, -1/+12I'm stoked for pandora
- iwillrefuse, on 07/11/2008, -0/+9Sorry, but that's pure genius.
- pilot101, on 07/11/2008, -1/+9I want skype T_T
- ricodued, on 07/11/2008, -0/+5Isn't it supposed to be tomorrow...er.. today (Friday)?
I cannot imagine that there is a huge difference between the iPhone and the iPod Touch's firmware that would require any time gap. There hasn't been before, why now? - Philbert, on 07/11/2008, -0/+5I may be wrong, but don't iTouch users pay for updates? If that's the case the distribution may be different.
- mortey, on 07/11/2008, -2/+6Oh man. AIM on an iPhone. What's the point of paying that extra money for the text messaging!
- btschul, on 07/11/2008, -1/+5Does anyone know when the 2.0 software for the iPod touch will be available? I can't find anything more specific than "Early July"
- btschul, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4Ehh.. I hope so. I am sitting at my computer with iTunes on one screen and digg on the other, hitting the "Check for Update" button in the iPod tab every few minutes.
- greatcaffeine, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4$9.95 for iPod touch users, free for current iPhone users.
- bezshai, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4I have already resigned to the fact that the second I own a iPhone 3G, I will be more addicted than ANY crackberry user. I have a couple of officemates with Blackberries and the user interface and available applications are NOTHING compared to the iPhone 3G. Apple, I hate you and love you at the same time.
- iwillrefuse, on 07/11/2008, -1/+4Anyone know if a time/date has been announced for the "official" 2.0 upgrade? It's Friday Cupertino time, and yet nothing...
- btschul, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Yeah, it's an additional $9.98 for the update, but It will be worth it. I don't know how that will affect the distribution, though.
- bezshai, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3I am doing the same thing and it is driving me insane since I have 35 free apps waiting in iTunes to download to my ipod! I am about to head to bed and will just have to wait until morning I guess.
- jmreid, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3It works perfectly.
- Elranzer, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3You could get them without the $150/month on your iPod Touch, too.
- j369852147412, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2I was wondering the exact same thing. I have an ipod touch so the leaked 2.0 upgrade does not work. I'm anxious to try out the new app store.
- iwillrefuse, on 07/11/2008, -1/+3Might just be me, but this does not appear to work with the latest revision of iTunes.
- Philbert, on 07/11/2008, -1/+3What about it?
- j369852147412, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2You need the 2.0 firmware -.-
Which is not out yet for the ipod touch. The leaked version only works on the iphone. - SugarCoatedSalt, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2yeah really, what's up with that?
- greatcaffeine, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2Glad I'm not the only one that picked up on that. I definitely won't be installing that application!
- CamperBob, on 07/11/2008, -1/+3The 2.0 firmware has actually been up for awhile now at http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.in ... . (This doesn't look like a legitimate link to apple.com but a lot of their other files have historically been hosted on edgesuite.net.) I installed it this morning on my 1st-gen phone and it's working great so far.
You will have to resync any stored music files after upgrading from 1.1.4, as the 2.0 installation does a complete wipe/restore cycle. It backs up contacts and photos but not music.
The free Pandora app is indeed very nice. Crashed on me once but I can tell it will be hard to live without. - Magnut, on 07/11/2008, -2/+4Will the new firmware cost anything? *sighs knowing its apple, hell yeah its gonna cost something, they charged for 3 extra apps*
- btschul, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2*sigh. At least I've got some good music to pass the time.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/btschul.digg/SHcMsGeSNYI/AAAA ... - MacParrot, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2You only got the first part. You'll need the Yugoslav to Persian translator for the rest of it.
- dasheel, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2Don't be such a presumptive PC lover/Apple basher. You're getting the firmware upgrade for free if you already own an iPhone. You might know this too, if you'd learn to use this little trick I like to call, "Reading the press announcements".
- Philbert, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1I was using AIM last week on my iPhone via Agile Messenger.
http://www.agilemobile.com/iphone.html
That worked really well aside from hideous emoticons and an occasional crash. I hope the official AIM works as well. It's a shame to miss out on Yahoo, MSN, Google Talk, and ICQ though - USER1236, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Yes, you will need to pay 10 bucks for ipod touch software 2.0 when it becomes available later today.
- eldridgea, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1GTalk - www.google.com/talk
Webapp for iPhone.
(hopefully there'll be a native one soon though) - pagno, on 07/11/2008, -1/+2Talking Phrasebook
...
"Necesito ponerme en contacto con la embajada" - That is not German.
If these guys are going to mock up an app, atleast have the decency to make it seem legit. How the ***** do you translate English into German and end up with Spanish? - Dylson, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1I'm having trouble and I have no idea why. Someone help!
- nicc, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1was I the only person concerned to see that the Google app is set by default to search your contact list?
as soon as I saw that I unchecked it...I want Google to search the web, not my personal contact list! - donna1234, on 12/09/2008, -0/+1More than 550 new applications arrived for the iPhone and iPod

http://www.bestipodtips.info/blog - hijinksensue, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1After upgrading to firmware 2.0 I decided to keep my iPhone 1G. Its like a new phone!
http://hijinksensue.com/2008/07/11/omfggg/ - Zaeyde, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1I saw that.
- drgruney, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1You get what you pay for.
- nunofgs, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1This sucks. I just realized most of those apps aren't available on other stores. Case in point: the Portuguese store.
No ebay, no paypal, no World 9, no google mobile, no jott, no yelp, no save benjis, no where, etc, etc. - barwise, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1Yeah. Not only that, it's a Spanish, not a German flag.
- CamperBob, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0It works on iTunes 7.7, which has been out for at least a day or so. To install it, you need to hold down Shift when clicking "Check for firmware updates." It will then prompt for the location of the .ipsw file.
- winnopeg, on 07/11/2008, -3/+3Twitterrific?
- drewfer, on 07/11/2008, -5/+5I don't know about you guys but I'm stoked most for loopt. Looking directly at where your friends are is awesome. And I can avoid the friend nobody likes.
- j369852147412, on 07/11/2008, -1/+0macrumors says its coming out 8am friday morning.
- GreatOne08, on 07/11/2008, -3/+2Damn, I wish I have an iPhone
- Kalior, on 07/11/2008, -2/+1is anyone having trouble syncing the apps to ipod touch? do I need to wait for the new firmware or what?
- Mattapus, on 07/10/2008, -8/+7Even though I waaay over paying as a Canadian, the apps described here alone is going to make the $150/ month worth while!
