- bitterscream, on 08/25/2008, -5/+276I'm up for anything that gets those comment load times down.
- brokendalek, on 08/25/2008, -1/+191Where would we be without Firefox?
- agentlame, on 08/25/2008, -34/+184Opera people remind me of the Ron Paul phycos...
Always there to remind you of that third option you don't care about.
Couldn't they all be replaced with a script?
if (title.Contains("Firefox")) {
InsertComment("Don't forget about Opera!!!");
} - TheRealMisterd, on 08/25/2008, -5/+135IE 6.0 with spyware, viruses and active X
- nutmac, on 08/25/2008, -7/+110While Firefox 3 is fast, "outrageously fast" is outrageously exaggerated.
- damack, on 08/25/2008, -15/+113Firefox 3 is outrageously fast and very stable as well.
The add ons are the icing on the cake. - robdiggity, on 08/25/2008, -0/+85Odd turn of phrase given that speed bumps typically slow things down...
- ggtsu, on 08/25/2008, -1/+72This is America, we don't do third options.
- ericthegreat, on 08/25/2008, -1/+59Finally we'll get a speed bump with GMail.
- TikiTHPS, on 08/25/2008, -5/+47yay, no more browser lag while porn surfing
- NexusV2, on 08/25/2008, -0/+40Too complicated?
- shadowfoxmi, on 08/25/2008, -3/+42Imaginationland
- smacd75, on 08/25/2008, -4/+41How did we survive before Firefox? Going from IE to FF is like going from black-and-white to color TV!
- juliohm, on 08/25/2008, -2/+35***** IT! WE'LL RENDER IT LIVE!
- Elranzer, on 08/25/2008, -1/+33Firefox 3.1 might be fast but I've heard Firefox for Workgroups 3.11 has better networking.
- TWallaceWD, on 08/25/2008, -2/+30I'm with David. IE owns. Also, I hate those new DVD discs for movies, nothing wrong with VHS. Why ruin a good thing? I'd post more on this, but I've gotta go call my girlfriend soon and it takes a while cause of my rotary phone.
- serif69, on 08/25/2008, -4/+31Will it make the comment box on Digg not take up 100% of one of my processors as I'm typing?
- agentlame, on 08/25/2008, -3/+29I was referring to people, not third options.
I use Linux, but I don't run around like a dicktard pointing it out on every Mac/Windows article. - inactive, on 08/25/2008, -1/+27Getting laid.
- Hybred1234, on 08/25/2008, -4/+28Yeah, because convincing people Firefox was better than IE was real difficult.
- MatthewK, on 08/25/2008, -1/+25I'm not completely opposed to using Safari or Opera instead of Firefox, they are better than IE7 in my opinion. However, I really don't want to give up all my wonderful Firefox Add-ons, so that's the #1 reason I won't even consider anything other than Firefox at the present time. This news about v3.1 is great, because it strengthens Firefox's place in the browser market that much more! :)
- JakeW, on 08/25/2008, -1/+25"We're looking at doing that in the next two weeks," Shaver said. "The majority of users are still on Firefox 2." .
Why would people want to still be on Fx 2.X?
(I'm not dissing Fx 2.0+, I'm just curious) - NJank, on 08/25/2008, -0/+22damn straight.
- vawksel, on 08/25/2008, -10/+32Firefox 3 JS engine currently is very slow compared to both Opera and Safari (Webkit), with Webkit coming out on top.
Version 3.1 will be a much welcomed enhancement. - vawksel, on 08/25/2008, -7/+29IE, Opera, Safari, Webkit.
If I had to pick one, I might pick Opera, but so many pages don't render correctly in that damn thing.
I'd try hard to never to use IE. - Nanobe, on 08/25/2008, -0/+21It's still supported, which means they don't yet get automatically upgraded to Firefox 3. And most people simply don't pay that much attention to which version of the software they use is the latest.
- jpwalsh1, on 08/25/2008, -4/+24And yet Opera still cant get the Plugin support FF has. Oh and it STILL renders CSS a tad different, granted it is the second best one out there.
- Rochmndx, on 08/25/2008, -2/+20...in hell?
- Krissam, on 08/25/2008, -1/+18dude, i knew some people were into ascii, but that's just WRONG.
- theselfishgene, on 08/25/2008, -2/+18I can't wait for Firefox 95.
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -2/+16can i download this yet??
- Labut, on 08/25/2008, -1/+14What? No Mozilla Suite, which existed before Firefox.
- Atsuke, on 08/25/2008, -1/+14Simply said:
Firefox > IE no matter what - mdew, on 08/25/2008, -0/+11Opera's javascript implementation hasn't caught up with Firefox 3 (run Sunspider benchmark), the real race on fast javascript is between Webkit and Firefox.
- rodrigo74, on 08/25/2008, -0/+11You get outraged really easy then.
- sully213, on 08/25/2008, -0/+11Ahh, TraceMonkey. Sounds like another Jonathan Coulton song ;)
- tj111, on 08/25/2008, -0/+11And <marquee>
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -0/+10http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overclocking
- jpwalsh1, on 08/25/2008, -0/+103.1 Finally fixed a bug that was killing AJAX systems around the net too. FF 3.0.1 was forcing a content type and it was breaking certain apps. Where no other browser does this...
Running 3.1 alpha here in a dev environment and its working great. - ChiliMac, on 08/25/2008, -0/+10Firefox 3.0 keeps crashing on me. And it's slow with video for me. If I want to watch a video I have to use Safari. Hopefully 3.1 will clear up some of the bugs.
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -0/+10If only I could, in a similar way, significantly speed up my CPU with a download, life would be beautiful!
- Nanobe, on 08/25/2008, -4/+13Tried switching to Linux?
- fr0mundacheese, on 08/25/2008, -1/+10probably paying Microsoft extra for their fine web browser
- talonstriker, on 08/25/2008, -0/+9There's an add-on called Stealther that comes close to porno-mode
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -1/+10Firefox 3.1 allows use for more than 16MB of RAM. That should make the very wealthy happy.
- psion01, on 08/25/2008, -2/+11You're not supposed to drive really fast over those?!
Damn ... and I was having so much fun too. If you do it enough, red and blue lights start flashing in your rear-view mirror and you have to go really fast to get rid of them! - reformedgeek, on 08/25/2008, -2/+11Ugh, at least upgrade to IE 7 if you must use it. :)
- xaxxon, on 08/25/2008, -0/+8Yes.
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nig ... - Munceenuts, on 08/25/2008, -0/+8That just means you're on Opera's website using Firefox.
