- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -4/+55Did anyone else notice the common theme of loneliness in all of these pictures, and in wallpapers of previous versions of windows too? There's always that one object that stands alone (e.g. a tree, or a sailboat), and there's no sign of human activity.
- CoreBurn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+50Might would if the images were higher resolution, but 500x333?? no thanks. :-(

http://www.flickr.com/photos/stateofmind_77/8054316/ - dtfinch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22If you're having trouble getting the high resolution versions, click "view source", scroll about 1/5 of the way down and copy the image url that ends in "_t.jpg". Paste it into your address bar and change the "_t" to "_o".
Those are very high resolution photos, but I don't have a flickr account, which may be why I had to work to get to them. - cyberwiz01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Why can't any of them be downloaded in a wallpaper-sized resolution?
- jecobo, on 06/11/2009, -1/+21Do you need a Flickr account to get these in full resolution? Or is this as big as they get? A lot of these are fantastic.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19I guess he's posted low-res ones because he makes a living from selling photos, not posting them on Flickr for free.

thanks for the links
two minutes later of php haxoring and you have a zip
http://nunbot.com/downloads/vista_images.zip - Mihai12345, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11To see the original images just replace the "t" (in thumbnail view) with an "o"
Or you can use this Greasemonkey script that ads links to the original images http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/2012
Enjoy - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13how does he manage to achieve such a contrast of colors. later shopping?
- FunkyChicken, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Wow. What a freak'n tease. Several of those are amazing, yes absolutely. But the tease comes in when you realize that no full-size ones are available for you to use as Wallpaper. I feel like a sucka.
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10There was one in a beta that I really liked, not in this list - it was a beach scene with a short wooden fence. Very pretty, not quite a vista though.
- elektricki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8As an Oregonian I had a feeling those pictures were from here. And, I was right. It's a beautiful state for sure.
- dtd00d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The first two did.
- dtd00d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Why did only the first two make it in?
Some of the other ones are a lot prettier. - tiger2base, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@leobaby
"There was one in a beta that I really liked, not in this list - it was a beach scene with a short wooden fence. Very pretty, not quite a vista though."
I think this is it. I though it was one of the better ones myself:
http://www.uafresh.com/vista_5259_shore - CoreBurn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah kinda pointless to post wallpapers on Flickr if you don't have a pro account.
- meridianknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5""how does he manage to achieve such a contrast of colors."
levels tweaking in photoshop."
I'm sure he does some post production, but a lot of that is achieved with filters at point of capture. He notes this on his interview here:
http://www.istartedsomething.com/20070203/interview-hamad-darwish - wmarcello, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5How did you figure out those Flickr links? I can't find a url that remotely looks like those.
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6There's a "sort [comments] by number of diggs" selection in the drop-down at the top of the comments, can make reading the comments slightly odd, how ever..
- LittleDanzig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4While I agree with you that this cat was a little harsh with the commenter, he is essentially correct, and I can sort of understand his defensiveness - what he did is certainly not post-production tweaking, but simply the digital equivalent of a film photographer dodging or burining his exposures while developing to bring out certain tones, and nobody would ever accuse a traditional photographer of 'retouching' for employing those techniques.
- Kolbeck10, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Pretty slick. Pitty they are of poor resolution.
- jstem1994, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Probably a polarizer filter too.
- iluvhatemail, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5actually, this guy pushes the saturation level up. He describes a technique he used on one of his pics here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/darwishh/153158935/in/set-72157594510047657/ , while also lambasting a user near the bottom. I don't feel Sandy's comment deserved the rudeness it received. - code_of_life, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4comment-squatter to the rescue
- smb3d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm almost certain HDR would have made these pictures really "Amazing!!!!!"
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3damn.....273mb for all of that
- joshpowell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Those are some amazing shots. Get the Greasemonkey script mentioned above to get the high-res versions. And they are REALLY high-res, I'm talking like 6MB an image.
- KingBabi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3These are gorgeous. It's nice to see the effort put into the little touches in things like this.
- SirSid, on 05/27/2009, -0/+3look above. Somebody put up some links
- NeoRicen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Are you retarded, people HAVE, actually look at the comments for ***** sake.
- usefulidiot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3the using a mac part, yes.
- Liggmin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ dougless: how is that ironic? i legitimately believe that digg needs a picture section.
- Blackmane, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Some of those are really cool.
- Darcy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hi-res wallpapers:
http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/
http://www.socksoff.co.uk/walls01.html - Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually they've already been sold: to Microsoft. So "stealing" these images isn't taking them from him, it's stealing from Microsoft. And that's something everyone on Digg can do with a clear conscious.
- squeky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wonder how much Microsoft paid him for the first 2? Amazing shots as well.
- attention, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2flicker is blocked by websense
imagebucket or anything anyone? - HalFTW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks for the script, works great. :)
- bobcrotch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah I recognized a few of the coastal ones plus the Hyatt lake photo, I've been going there for years.
- vagarach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think they may have been watermarked or something, because a 20D (the camera he shoots with) just doesn't produce images that poor. In all fairness though, microsoft did have them commissioned!
edit: thanks for the link reichg, its a really nice site - bobcrotch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn actually I live in the rogue valley, the one in white city and on top of mt ashland are in my back yard ;D
- Mipmap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2An alternative to the script is the DownThemAll Firefox extension:
