- Hayes, on 10/11/2007, -8/+70Do not download this garbage. Had it for about 2 days and got rid of it. Takes up more resources than Photoshop CS3 on fire with 50 layers. The sidebar alone (thoosje.com) is enough to slow your computer down without all the other garbage.
- bicycleman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+41YIKES!!! I can't believe this got on DIGG. Seriously, stay away from this at all costs if you want system stability. I've experimented with this and it totally screwed up my machine to the point of OS reinstall. Seriously, you've been warned.
- MikeonTV, on 10/11/2007, -2/+34How about the Windows 95 transformation pack? Not ready yet?
- mmcwhorter, on 10/11/2007, -10/+38LAME
- mygrayarea, on 10/11/2007, -5/+33Is it possible to make Vista look like XP?
- Ramble, on 10/11/2007, -3/+28Ahh. I remember the good old days of it ***** up your computer.
- smiley2billion, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23This transformation pack or Windows Vista?
- m5wr1th, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Someone forgot his meds today.
- BoomWav, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13... without the hassle of changing OS?.. WTF.. you'll pass 2 days configuring everything.. and you won't even get the new explorer and indexed search.. and you won't be able to use DX10... be wise.. change now.. you'll eventually change anyway.. don't you remember Windows 98 freaks who didn't want to change to XP? You want to be one of them? Anyway.. don't bury me for being a Microsoft lover... I'm just happy with my Vista.. I'm just annoyed of seeing how people try to do everything to avoid upgrading.. for.. no good reason.. I mean.. Vista is a huge upgrade..
- omarciddo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12It's true. If anything this completely pounded my system. I put Vista Ultimate instead and it actually runs faster for me. To be fair, my system can handle most of what Aero offers; decide based on your own specs.
- brstilson, on 10/11/2007, -4/+15Why the hell would you want to do that? The Windows XP theme looks like it was designed by Fischer-Price.
- dmightx, on 09/21/2008, -2/+12does this go any further than just changing the looks?
- A11YND, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Wow, I installed this on my new Toshiba and you know what, the Dock "feature" alone makes the damn thing slower than an old person *****.
Uninstalled all but the Glass features/start bar/icons - dextermanas, on 10/11/2007, -12/+21It has indeed been a long wait, but well worth it!
Other than improving the overall Vista-ish GUI experience on non-vista systems, the two features I'm looking forward to the most is:
• ViStart
(Vista Start Menu port for Windows XP/2003 with glass UI and search function. ViStart is just about the most accurate Vista Start Menu Emulation ever. After trying out countless programs that claim to mimic the Vista Start Menu, ViStart is possibly the only one that actually delivers the goods.)
• Thoosje’s Vista Sidebar v2.1
( Again, after trying countless sidebar programs, Thoosje's Sidebar comes to be the most accurate one. Although this sidebar program has been around for a while now, the new version is much more , uses lesser resources and has a faster startup.)
Great going WindowsX and please do keep updating this pack! - lordthor, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10this just makes it LOOK like vista... because vista looks cooler than XP.
Take some pills, kid. - outz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8dumbass...
- maniaci137, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Does it only choose the file name and not the extension when you rename something? That's my favorite feature of Vista. :]
- WarezAppz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Why?
- coldphoenix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Its a customization pack for Windows XP, to make your system LOOK like Vista.
screenshot http://www.windowsxlive.net/screenshots/vtp/vtp7_desktop.jpg - DenTPuzz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I think I'd have formatted my disk before pitching the whole computer... Maybe you just wanted a new computer and used this as an excuse?
- giid, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Well, my XP looks like Win2k. Is it possible to make Windows Vista look like XP looking like Win2k, which mostly looks like Win98 which for the most part looks like Win95?
- Hayes, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6It has a sidebar too. Thoosje.com. Although, it's ***** slow, takes up a tonne of resources, and doesn't have any addon gadgets besides the standard ones.
- celkin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Why stop there? We should be able to make Vista look like Windows 1.0.
- Burn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5That's one of the first things I turn ON when installing Windows.
- solemnraven, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8I absolutely love this check it out: Digg's top 5 right now,
#2) Microsoft Paid Top Bloggers to Promote Vista and Recite MS Slogans----
#3) (irrelevant)
#4) Vista Transformation Pack 7.0 Released----
#5) Ubuntu popularity rising
lol wonder why? - ROMMExL, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Unfortunately, it is not as easy to install as VTP6 because of the hotfix KB925902 compatibility problems.
- maninblac1, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9It's nice, but if you have the GDI fix, (the icon exploit fix), you're supposed to hack the user32.dll before applying the transformation, apparently this is so that the vista pointer theme can be loaded is what i gather. So install at your own risk.
- victorc26, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5No. All the framework and system wide changes aren't there. It's just the looks and the functionality I'm sure.
- DenTPuzz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Offers a cloth to wipe the spit of Jaygo333's monitor
- theMurdocVolta, on 10/11/2007, -7/+11Windows Vista is a really nice OS, You should try it out.
- ioannusdeverani, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@celkin: stop while you're ahead... ;)
- stuartpetty, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8Why, why, why???? this reminds me of people who stick M3 badges on a BMW 316 what's the point??
- Hayes, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Ya. It's just an exe. Try it if you want - completely safe. I just did, and lo and behold, it didn't look right. It functioned like the Vista Startbar, though.
http://www.lee-soft.com/vistart/ - RyGiL, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I know from the comments not to install this pack, but is vistart worth an install? Is it safe?
- yugiohdan6, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3or even better make a image of your entire HD (norton ghost is a good option) since system restore points can get corrupted
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3..........so it's just like vista?
sweet. - ioannusdeverani, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Yes, I downloaded it, and it slowed my login time by about 13 seconds (it is usually instant); software like this scares the crap out of me.
If you decide to use it, MAKE SURE YOU SET UP A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT!!!!!!!!! - Hayes, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6You're 15 and live in the room across the hall from your mother. Stop trying to pretend you work for Microsoft.
- lordthor, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5you can just turn show file extensions off.
- celkin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'm reporting you!
- NIL8, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Just use xpize if you want a fresh look.
http://www.xpize.net/ - o0joshua0o, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I want a Lego theme.
- V3X3D, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Its true but it also depends on your system. I decided to give version 6 a try and uninstalled it the same day but I decided to keep a few features such as the vista login(which doesnt affect my performance). This was tested on a sp2 , 1.7p-m 512mb . With more memory I might have kept it to be honest. I hope the buggy interfaces are ironed out in version 7
- omarciddo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3***** are like ants, they're everywhere and you'll never get rid of them all.
- benlindelof, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Unless you know how to use the Windows XP Resource Kit, don't bother.
It requires a certain level of expertise. I'm a computer nerd and I find it alarmingly that there is no documentation for this application. The Changelog shows the changes in 7 but what does this program do? I want full documentation.
I'm downloading the file now. I definitely won't compromise my Windows Media Center 2005 for this. If I want Vista Ultimate, I will buy it. - hackerssidekick, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3http://www.launchy.net
You're welcome - Emexci, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Download & install it. after 15 minute reinstall your xp.
Enjoy! - sfden, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Awesome! Is there a Linux version of it? I use Linspire and want to transform it to look luke both MacOS X and Windows Vista
- maniaci137, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Double post. :[
