- z00k, on 10/12/2007, -5/+33I don't even know why this is posted... Most filters from 2002=> Block this now... Buried -_-
- Haroldx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30http://google.com/gwt/n
- OneBallJ, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24Unfortunately this doesn't always work, we use St Bernard/iPrism, MySpace is not originally blocked by them, we manually entered it into the system. Using Google Translate doesn't get you past all filters.
I haven't bothered trying to see if this trick gets me to other sites considering a) most of the sites I go to are not blocked b) I'm the admin so I can over ride it (to check the content for work reasons) and c) why are you still going to MySpace - jjcausey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Websense started catching this over a year ago.
- mattcampbell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8after you login you are screwed as it converts back to myspace.com
- BarriedaleNick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Dont be daft - this is old and obvious - most proxys had it covered ages ago. And surprisingly most admins are just doing what they are paid to do - they don't think they are superhuman and they aren't nazis. It's normally the staff/pupils who think they are some sort of uber geek just because they found a link somewhere to get them to myspace
- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Yeah, inevitably all these "use such-and-such sites to view a blocked site" have already been blocked.
- Clickerness, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Unfortunate as well: This is a year old story.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Look at the google toolbar
playboy.com
^^ Caught surfing pr0n at work :-D - Flame10885, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6omg... good eye!
- Haroldx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@z00k
It's a project that makes pages visible on a cell phone. It has to rescale the images to make them visible on the cell phone (while doing it on the google domain name, so no matter what they'll be visible).
You can login to myspace with it too. - BlackToothX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5how does an inaccurate story, in which every single comment debunks the claim of the author, ever make it to the front page.... with 677+ diggs....dang Trolls
- dgaspard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Buried as lame. Most proxy's block translation sites for this reason.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://i18.tinypic.com/2rmsarq.jpg
- miles32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Inaccurate. Tried all three ways and none of them work. Plus I was doing this 4 years ago in middle school.
- grav80bong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I was surprised no one else mentioned this. This only gets you to the top layer of a site...if it's a site that requires any kind of a session it's useless. Who cares if you can see the myspace homepage. What you would need to make this really effective would be a firefox plugin that converts all links on the page to be prefixed by the google translation url.
And while that would enable you to navigate the links within a site successfully, you still can't login to anything cause when you submit a form you can't control the url you get sent to (unless it uses a GET and puts your parameters in the query string...but what login would ever do that). You'd need a plugin that would forward the POST to google, but could google even forward that post back to the site and render the page for you...I would HIGHLY doubt it. - z00k, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Haroldx... Wtf is that o_o
- sphinx13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My school blocks anything that says proxy or translate, so this still doesn't work.
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Yes, my school (which uses Websense) blocks this method. I just use Portable Firefox with a proxy when I need to access a restricted site (for example, it blocks pages dealing with abortion, even though we had a paper to write on the subject)
- chewy5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3my school blocked google translarte because people were learning how to say 'jonno is a wanker' in other languages
- rabidgnome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is the single oldest trick to get around filters. If we could come up with it in elementary school - it doesn't deserve to be dugg
- paulmdx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3SurfControl blocks this too.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Ghey. Tor network FTW.
http://www.torrify.com/download.php - linuxwarz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Proxy? When I went to HS they used Websense but hired a student to lock down the network (ahh stupid admins). He blocked all ports from all computers except to the proxy server/websense. When this happens, your chance of using proxy's is screwed.
- B111, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i subscribe to peacefire.org's mailing list and every few days they have a new proxy up and running.
http://www.peacefire.org/circumventor/
great thing is, that i use the gmail preview on my google ig page, and while i can't open emails, hover usually gives me the url of the new proxy.
also, https://www.stupidcensorship.com always works, but is painfully slow. - prodaea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they all fail but mobile for me. formatting is a pain in the butt, so why bother?
- markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There was one tool that said it would allow you onto any restricted site, and it simply did so by taking you to the IP address of the domain you entered. Unfortunately I lost the link, and I didn't get a chance to test it out. Can anyone help?
- CdeNyikayedu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its a good workaround but ASTARO blocks it.
- Van3ck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Buried as Inaccurate.
My work proxy has blocked this for a long time now =/ - 3Den, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nothing new, and hey, by the way, if you circumvent local policy just because you found a clever way around it, you're still in *****.
- m00nmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Our Sonicwall Firewall blocks it. Marked Inaccurate.
- mymate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yep definately not poolproof, worked about 5 years ago, but not anymore
- SoldierPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow, stupidcensorship works for me, first one that's worked in awhile...
- bigmike33x, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3My job blocks google's translation page
- seansshack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1doesn't work anymore. Would do about three years back not wost filters like websense block it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1List of 300+ proxy sites which let you surf any site http://digg.com/security/List_of_300_proxy_sites_which_let_you_surf_any_site
- utcursch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Both blocked by the evil proxy in my organization.
- mapkinase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I suspect most employers look at the content as well, so it won't fly very far.
- utcursch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Haroldx: http://google.com/gwt/n doesn't help much. My organization's proxy allows access to it, but doesn't allow me to access any banned site using it. Even Wikipedia has blocked it.
- beanoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0just use http://www.proxieslist.net proxy list updated daily to unblock myspace
- orfeo77, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0You can try this simple file and unprotected directory search engine, it is based on google co-op using "index of" filter:
http://searchable.awardspace.com/
http://digg.com/software/Searchable_internet_file_search_made_easy_with_this_google_co_op
Check if your site has "index of" vulnerability, put your domain and search ;-) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use http://www.aplusproxy.com/ as my favorite myspace proxy site.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a good place to find a myspace proxy: http://www.myspaceproxyindex.com/
- cms2337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just use flyproxy
- cru99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If your company doesn't block pagewash.com, you can use that, I think.
- darkmanx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesnt work...bury this story please.
- joliefille, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, as mentioned by others, websense caught on to this idea a long time ago. no such luck!
- jpcompagnone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use an SSH tunnel with the -D operator in order to access sites that are blocked, seems to be the safest way to get around these web filters. In order to keep it more anonymous I use Firefox with FoxyProxy in order to send DNS requests through the tunnel as well.
