- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33Foxit Reader isn't there, its really not a good list.
http://us01.foxitsoftware.com/foxitreader/foxitreader_setup.exe
I really hate the bloated and slow Adobe Reader. It realy sucks! - Desolite, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20who said it was the most amazing list?
- Xanin, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Sorry to reply off-topic at the top of the page...but I seem to be able to digg people's comment twice (only up, not down) by clicking very fast. Anyone else noticed that?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15It only appears that way. The server only counts one of your votes. It's a bug having to do with latency.
- tommytyker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16http://www.tinyapps.org
- tinkafoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Sizer is by far the best utility on that list. It's really handy when testing website design.
These should be added:
AllSnap (467K) - http://www.cs.utoronto.ca/~iheckman/allsnap/
Make the edges of your windows snap together (similar effect as Adobe/Macromedia toolboxes)
Taskbar Shuffle (624K) - http://www.freewebs.com/nerdcave/taskbarshuffle.htm
Drag & drop the applications around on your taskbar. (It just makes sense! You'll be wondering why Microsoft never added this as a default feature in Windows. They've had over 10 years to do it!)
Power Menu (49K) - http://www.veridicus.com/tummy/programming/powermenu/
Adds the following functions to every application: Always on top, Minimize to tray, Priority, Transparency. (Options that every app should have had to begin with.) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8It wasn't when I looked first. I made sure of that b4 I commented.
Take a look at the time the list was last edited! - iamthewinnar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Based on that you can release any file so that it can be deleted. That way you can get rid of the ones your spyware removal program can't
- xeno439, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7So I can make the front page by going to versiontracker.com and listing the first 20 things I find?
- Kittenality, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Yeah, but rev3 gets a plug.
- surfing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I would add autohotkey (1721 KB) to that list.
Automate almost anything by sending keystrokes and mouse clicks. You can write a mouse or keyboard macro by hand or use the macro recorder.
http://www.autohotkey.com/ - dangermouse75, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6How about the Irfanview Image Viewer / Editor?
http://www.download.com/IrfanView/3000-2192-10021962.html?part=dl-IrfanView&subj=dl&tag=button - sersdf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4needs Launchy
- AhrenBa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is an awesome list, thanks for sharing the link!
- sc0ri0n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@tinkafoo: Thanks for your comment. Taskbar shuffle is really cool!
- IntelliAdmin2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Here are some on our site...most of them are free and can be put on a USB drive (no install needed)...no dlls, or spyware.
http://www.intelliadmin.com/downloads.htm - MetaDFF, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This freeware program should be added too.
Winroll (89kB) http://www.palma.com.au/winroll/
Roll a window into its title bar, send it to the back or make it stay on top. Minimize, maximize or close all visible windows, including minimizing to the tray area. Make a window translucent on Windows 2000 or above.

- jonj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3excellent advice... let's load as many useless "utility" apps as possible ontop of our machine, and then complain that it runs slowly!
- smohan123, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I like PeerGuardian 2.0 a lot. I BitTorrent extensively (hooray for uTorrent) and PeerGuardian definately gives me peace of mind. It's updated frequently, small, and works in parellel to other firewalls/AV programs without a hitch.
- cgoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Great list of apps, I particularly enjoyed "The Wonderful Icon."
- Mipmap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If you are unfortunate enough to have to use MS Office, PureText is essential. It strips formatting on pasting text from the clipboard:
http://www.stevemiller.net/puretext/ - stryker2you, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Based on what statistics?
- matrixneo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2good one.
- stryker2you, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@graigchq
You have a point. However, sometimes reading the comments first are a good idea. Some articles are submitted that are NSF and someone will post the comment about that. Plus you can get other peoples view of the matter before you read it. But I do agree, most people make stupid comments before they read the article only to find out it was there all along. - lordfoul, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This list out grew its post and is continued here...
http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=687 - CyrusG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Dugg for hamachi. Incredible app that I use frequently to play PC games with friends.
- RedKite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Just tried the Angry IP Scanner and it's certainly very useful for system administrators.
I suggest anyone who connects to the Internet via a router, for their own security at least change the default password for username admin. - trejrco, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6I agree, FoxIt needs to be on the list ... oh, and now it is. And so is Irfanview.
- dracflamloc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not to toot my own horn, but if you're the networking/programmer type you might find these useful: http://www.dracsoft.com
- dtox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1tinyapps has always been my favorite place for small (and sometimes innovative) apps
- iamthewinnar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Unlocker is one of the best programs for spyware removal.
- cvconnelly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2good list, download.com had a good one here recently too
- TransmitThis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Heres a list I did a while ago, not updated since January, as I dont frequent that particular forum much anymore.

http://www.rockforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=97 - graigchq, on 10/12/2007, -13/+12umm, did you even read it, does anyone read these stories anymore before they start digging?

- mythealias, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0how about ATnotes ... though it is discontinued, it is still pretty good and has alarm too ...
http://atnotes.free.fr/ - iloveinternet, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I don't know the relationship between Xnview and Irfanview. But personally, I like Xnview much more.
- ajskhan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1is tune xp any good?
- wiremonkeymommy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Thanks to those guys that posted some decent lists and got modded down for it, I don't give two turds if you make any money from any ads I'm genetically incapable of seeing anyway!!
@jonj
dude, if you can't tell the difference between "useful" and "useless" utilities... maybe computing is not for you - tke248, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Here is my list http://www.combobulate.com/node/13
- Forky, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0it's there in 18th place

- yoyar, on 10/12/2007, -16/+5You want to boast about 20 Windows programs under 2 MB?
Useful Free Linux Programs Under 2MB
http://www.ss64.com/bash/index.html - Teaboy, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1Other than Putty, Unlocker and uTorrent, they're all pretty crappy.
- yoyar, on 10/12/2007, -19/+1Useful and Windows in the same sentence?
- mrwhiskey, on 10/12/2007, -18/+0Is this a joke? There is nothing fun and exciting abount Windows. Some of these programs are still for 95/98...
- squirrelza, on 10/12/2007, -24/+3Yeah I wouldn't say this is the most amazing list of software available under 2mb
