- noctem314, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Comment abuse, but it's worth noting if you read the article and fancy installing the Firefox extension, not to install the one mentioned as item #1 in this list. If you scroll down to the comments and you'll see there's a much better extension available now that has much tighter integration with Firefox and its bookmarks. That's available here:
http://del.icio.us/help/firefox/extensionnew - albiniak, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6nice, i didn't even realize there was an inbox (#7).
- laceration, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3To each his own, but I don't like the new extension. Its almost like you have a del.ico.us browser and firefox is the extension. If del.ico.us is the central part of your web browsing experiance you'll probably like it, otherwise its intrusive.
- noctem314, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Good for you. Thanks for keeping us all abreast of the situation. Do let us know if you decide to brush your teeth later ;)
- goodoldharris, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4"5. Bundle your tags. Does your tag cloud look like a huge, disorganized mess. Bundle those tags into related categories for easy access. To organize your tags into bundles, click on the “Settings” link in the top right-hand corner."
Delicious sucks if you're an A-type personality. While tags and bundles have some advantages, they suck for anyone who really wants or needs organized bookmarks. - deabyss, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1folders just don't offer enough. If something belongs in multiple folders, it just is not very friendly. You can just tag what you need with all the tags that it applies to and makes it easier to find and group. I want an ability to do Intersections accross tags. That would be very useful.
- SoAnIs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I started using Del.icio.us as a way to backup my bookmarks off-site. Now if my computer's hard drive fails I can just get my bookmarks from del.icio.us.
- MacBookForMe, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1Thank you for description of how to use this very powerful tagging tool! I am eagerly learning....
- Amything, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Please don't bury noctem314, he is absolutely right, the extension mentioned in the article is obsolete.

I thought so too, until i started using it. It's a much better way to save articles, and also share with friends. Rather than emailing things to my friends (or IMing), i can leave them an inbox full of articles that they can save or discard.
Also, its easier to search, becuase you can tag things as you want. With the firefox extensions, it makes things so much quicker. I suggest trying it if you haven't already. - championchap, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@kingborel (#6862640)
Bender: The use of words depicting something other than its literal intention. Now that, is.. irony! - championchap, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@sirjtaa (#6863692)
Different uses, delicious is more about just saving whatever sites you like.
Digg is more geared towards helping others discover news.
I do agree with you to a point though, i never use delicious.
Why would i?
Beyond the sites that i regularly visit i dont explore much out into the rest of the web. Thats where digg comes in.
I discover all the new sites that i would bookmark using delicious on digg. - underthelinux, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah i agree. I don't lke this paradigm shift toward tags. I was a big fan of folders.
- insanebrain, on 10/11/2007, -0/+111. Not
- sirjtaa, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Or you could use digg, which is much more aesthetically pleasing and easier to type in your browser.
- gdhanasekar, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0Thank you for description
- acmestyled, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0How could they not include the del.icio.us randomizer? It's my favorite use of the site: http://del.icio.us/recent?random&min=10
It randomly brings you to a recently saved page from across the user base (I think). Open up a blank bookmark and save the link. I have it in my toolbar for when I'm bored. Found a lot of interesting stuff that way. - srafx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I'm on a mac and the way to go is quicksilver plug in and pukka to submit! Its all you need!
- kingborel, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3hehe, the irony
- Astronick, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1There isn't an inbox any more - it's called the subscriptions page: http://del.icio.us/subscriptions/
- shangnan, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1recommendation for better Tag search
- cybe, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1I'm wondering where to migrate in case Microsoft buys Yahoo...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2Never used Del.icio.us, and dont plan to either.
- zlzhdark, on 10/11/2007, -5/+0i like it
