- deano186, on 10/12/2007, -2/+56If you make your initial connection to GMAIL like this:
https://mail.google.com/
then your entire session will run under SSL encryption, not just the initial login sequence. - readme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Best Gmail tip (not on the list):
Setup a filter on "Has the words" "is:spam"
This will automatically send all spam to the trash, no more Spam (125) when you login. No need for a Greasemonkey script either. - Freakboy380, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19forgot gmail drive
- lucid270, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Plus addressing?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9worth the time it takes to type out the "s" and update any bookmarks.
- ajchavar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6ummm, pretty much everyone who has gmail, seeing as how it does have a pretty good spam filter, using it for spam only would be kinda. . .pointless?
- michael1406, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What about false positives? They do sometimes happen, albeit rarely of course.
- LecherousVenom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You don't - use tags instead.
- knifeattack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Pretty good article. Here are some Gmail Calendar and Google tool tips

- reflous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Best gmail addon (firefox extension) gtdgmail: http://gtdgmail.com/
- monosyth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3doesn't work that great, i'm not impressed with this feature. had it going for about a week, and took it off... it would be slow to download mail. ex. "Checked 3 hrs ago" - and the "Check Now" feature, didn't really work.
- migsims, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Missing the most useful Gmail tip: "is: unread"
They should really just create a button for unread mail, but until then that little search command works wonders for helping you clean up your inbox. - Philluminati, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
You can apply filters to your emails using the + symbol..
Sign up to spam like this:
login name + someword @gmail.com
and it still arrives in your account. Then you can say "if sent to +someword move to junk"
It's a great way to filter out ***** quickly and tag things based on what address you gave out to people.
-- Why the hell isn't this on there? - Veretax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish I could create "nested labels" that is if have a hierarchy of labels where if A is beneath B in the hierarchy then if I label something B it automatically would inherit Label A. That's the only thing I wish Gmail had
- moktoipas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This user style script can change the color of your contacts !

- martin308, on 10/30/2007, -2/+2That's disappointing, the web interface for my other address is lame (you cant even search!). Sounded like a great feature
- Philluminati, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1
That article read like:
He's a tip for Microsoft Word. If you click on the Big fat B in the toolbar you can make all the text bigger and fatter. - nixr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I have been using that feature for a while and I haven't noticed any delayed messages at all. It works very well for me. It has completely cured me from having to rely on a locally installed email client to retrieve my Comcast mail. Oni308, you should double check your account settings. It should be in there on the "Accounts" tab. Click on the "Add another email address" link. Give it a shot.
- WorldBuilder, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I gort it and personally love it. Three addys all in one place? Can't beat it...
- LecherousVenom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1makes a handy virus scanner of msoffice files, too....
http://youtube.com/watch?v=22n6lvvxhWM - rdoger6424, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1that's the wrong reason for gmail, if you really want a throwaway spam email addy then go to http://www.spambob.com
(proud gmail user since- 3/14/05) - diversionmary, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Me. I forward all of my personal mail to my gmail via .procmailrc. I'm thinking about doing this with my Outlook/work email as well, as I'm tired of sifting through 3, 1.5GB+ .pst files looking for an invoice or something.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Or how about just reading your mail as it arrives?
- readme, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Just check the trash folder. When you're like me with over 200 spam messages a day, there's no use hunting for false positives.
- BAMAToNE, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I wish he had consolidated the Greasemonkey scripts into one section, separate from the other tricks. I'm an Opera user and have no use for them, but it would have made things little more organized, as well. Personally, I don't think there's much to see here anyway. "Tricking" your labels? Seriously?
- Philluminati, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1
I wish I could use folders instead. I'm soo used to them. - martin308, on 10/30/2007, -3/+1I can only add other accounts to send mail from, seems like everyone has this but me :(
- brianez21, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I got an error message from GMail saying that "this is only effective on messages already in your inbox and not incoming messages." This is when you click "Test Search" on the Filter page. Does anybody know a solution or workaround?
Thanks in advance. - martin308, on 10/30/2007, -3/+1"Fetch your other mail: A recent and quietly introduced Gmail feature is Mail Fetcher, which can check up to five other email accounts and download all that mail into your Gmail. To help keep things organized, Mail Fetcher can automatically label and archive all this incoming mail."
I wish I had this feature enabled on my account - n3tfury, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@hiro: lol @ email clients
- dangmoss, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1How do you create folders?
- LecherousVenom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1why are people digging down comments with links?
- LazyLiberal, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4A firefox extension really a gmail "hack"?
- understudy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2
How do you make it look more like Yahoo Mail Beta instead of a 4th grader's first website?
I know, I know. I'm prepared for the predictable digg down from GMail fans.
I will say though, that Google's Calendar kicks the crap out of Yahoo's at present.
_ - kodek, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2That was a long time ago. GM's fine now, as far as I know.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I can't get the Gmail Fetcher to work either.
- alteratti, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1srry for the comment abuse, but can anyone else use the gmail fetcher to get emails from other gmail accounts?
I've tried like a million times n dosent work, though some people say it does.
any idea?
thanks,
alt. - haooken, on 10/12/2007, -13/+4I heard somewhere that GreaseMonkey has some security issues. Any weight to that statement?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2No, but there may be some weight to his mother.
- Scottamus, on 10/12/2007, -21/+3I heard somewhere that your mother spreads it for a candy bar. Any weight to that statement?
- hiro, on 10/12/2007, -22/+2Seriously, who uses Gmail for anything other than a throwaway spam address?

What is Digg?
