- mistervino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Why can't it be web-based? I'd prefer not to install it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Here is where this tool is based off of:
http://123promotion.co.uk/tools/googlebanned.php - dusingaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10contains spyware!! beware!
- seanroth, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12Windows only? That's lame.
- Takteek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It doesn't work at all for me... and I can't figure out why. No matter what site I enter it says done in 1/2 a second and displays nothing.
- jpfinch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well yeah, he's probably reputable, he is in SEO after all... the most reputable business with a moral high ground known to man.
- keane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2report as lame.
- dwight0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this tool is stupid. it just does what the link above does. its too simple. i installed it just to uninstall it. im paranoid it left crap behind now.
- jpfinch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Spyware from an 'SEO junkie!'
I for one, am shocked. Oh wait, no I'm not. - raboof, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's a better way to do this, assuming you want to check sites you control.
Google recently updated their Google Sitemaps Console. You can now see if any of your sites are excluded from the Google index, and you can see if you are violating any of Google's webmaster guidelines. You can also request re-inclusion if you've been excluded. See http://sitemaps.blogspot.com/2006/04/whole-new-look-and-lot-more_26.html for details.
Even if you're not planning to use Google Sitemaps, verifying your ownership of sites and viewing them in the Google Sitemaps Console can be quite useful. - kichus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 I would mention that the "http://" part is required to enter in the Site URL textbox to crawl a site as the creator said in the SEORefugee thread located at http://www.seorefugee.com/forums/seo-tools/2287-google-ban-checker.html
The tool is using the typical checks like site: commands and it automatically checks the sites you link to see if any of them are banned, according to SEOMoz.org located at http://www.seomoz.org/blogdetail.php?ID=397 - seanroth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Of course. That's a common fact. But that certainly doesn't mean they can't make it mac and linux compatible. There's a larger Mac and linux user base than people think.
- Redscowl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Heheh, I love the tinfoilhat comments above. And as soon as one starts bleating, lots follow. Sheesh. It's a tool and it has value for loads of people. Use it or don't.
- WhizzKid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The guy who made the tool has been a moderator at Seochat and Seroundtable forums. Read it at http://www.seojunkie.com/about/
I read his interview at another blog at http://www.yfs1.com/2006/interview-seo-as-a-profession-2.html
I don’t think it can be a spyware. - tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Forget the spyware app people! This guy has the right idea! Why install an app on your PC, when you can have a website do it FOR YOU!
No Install, No OS Limits! - jeolmeun, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2How does it work?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+6Newsflash! The vast majority of the world uses windows so quit your putrid whining!
