- warrior007, on 06/12/2008, -1/+91Mozilla officially announced FF3 is coming on june 17
http://developer.mozilla.org/devnews/index.php/200 ...
so this is the final FF3 RC - swordedge, on 06/12/2008, -2/+71if you have RC 2, don't bother unless you are running a MAC. From the posts...
It contains a single change for Mac OS X users only; there is no change for users running previous Firefox Release Candidate versions on Windows or Linux. - Aurabolt, on 06/12/2008, -3/+36It doesn't matter if there are no changes, I can't live with knowing I'm not fully up-to-date.

- aflaks, on 06/12/2008, -2/+25"The third Firefox 3 Release Candidate is now available for download. It contains a single change for Mac OS X users only; there is no change for users running previous Firefox Release Candidate versions on Windows or Linux."
- rrbaker, on 01/15/2009, -0/+21Too many to explain in the comments, chief. There's a "What's New" link in the blog post.
- saleem, on 06/12/2008, -5/+24that's a secret.
- TheHogester, on 06/12/2008, -1/+18I imagine the final realse of FF3 will set the standards for browsers for quite a while. They really have raised the bar for everyone else to try and reach with this one.
- kuz2r, on 06/12/2008, -3/+20It is a big deal
- rrbaker, on 01/15/2009, -0/+14A lot of these extensions are working as betas and RCs if you check the developer's sites for new releases not yet in the official addons directory. I'm using Firebug, Greasemonkey, and a couple others that way and they're working just fine.
- TheLD, on 06/12/2008, -1/+15Good for you
- Deodrus, on 06/12/2008, -5/+19Umm... why not just wait 6 more days? More like 5.5 days.
I really hope the extension developers update all their stuff to be compatible with Firefox3 asap. There are some I couldn't live without.
On that note, here is an "awesome" extension no one ever mentions: INTERNOTE
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201 ...
Lets you keep notes for any URL, and position them anywhere on the page! I keep notes for my online-billing page (I forget my card-number all the time), and I make a to-do list note for my Firefox homepage, so that I'm always reminded of it (like at least 10 times a day). :-P ... I only found it 2 weeks ago and now I'm dependent on it.
Another on that I LOVE but is not mentioned is DRAGDROPUPLOAD.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/219 ...
It lets you drag+drop files directly from your Explorer window to a text-box (it's great for Gmail attachments).
One last tip. If you use FLASHBLOCK, then do this little tip:
right click your navigation bar, and click customize. Scroll down the list and find the flashblock icon and drag it next to your google-searchbar. :-D - nav1, on 06/12/2008, -2/+16The change is a lie
- TheAssuager, on 06/12/2008, -3/+16That's what she said.
- Darkx1337, on 06/12/2008, -4/+17w00t. Anyone know where I can find the change log?
- Darkx1337, on 06/12/2008, -0/+12Thanks. Oh well....
- elrac, on 06/12/2008, -1/+12Yes, but what is the change?
- aladrin, on 06/12/2008, -1/+12Don't complain to us. SUBMIT A BUG REPORT.
- cyberwiz01, on 06/12/2008, -0/+10I like turtles!
- phinn, on 06/12/2008, -0/+10Improved speed, Uses way less memory (over time), improved web compatibility, and tons more GUI and backend changes.
- moblati461, on 06/12/2008, -1/+11June 17th is the day to break a world record! Firefox 3 is awesome. Gotta love Gmail loading beautifully quick.
- marktastic, on 06/12/2008, -0/+9Oh hell no
- Darkx1337, on 06/12/2008, -1/+10I was looking for changes from rc2 to rc3
- maing, on 06/12/2008, -1/+10i'm actually running FF3 RC3,it's lightning fast but greasemonkey and other extensions i use aren't supported at the moment :(
- m1zl3d, on 06/12/2008, -1/+10This fixed an issue for Mac OSX 10.5.3 users only.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43657 ... - ligyron, on 06/12/2008, -1/+10"If u have RC2 it aint worth downloading"
You don't know how this whole release candidate / testing thing works, do you? - zzz@tkz, on 06/12/2008, -3/+11It's a well known fact that all extension names are capitalized.
- ThatEvilGuy, on 06/12/2008, -7/+14It will probably be just renamed to FF3 final version.
- Zachariah, on 06/12/2008, -3/+9http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.0rc3/releas ...
- greendigger, on 06/12/2008, -0/+6Sorry Steve Balmer, not this time!
- marktastic, on 06/12/2008, -0/+6I think the point is to TEST the new RC. It may not be "just a sneak peak" of the software like many would believe it to be.
- DeathAxe, on 06/12/2008, -0/+6"This time, the showstopper was identified and reported last week on Mac OS X versions of Firefox 3 RC 2. The bug causes Firefox to hangwhen loading the plugin database in some special conditions on Mac OS X 10.5.3, the latest Mac OS X update released on May 28."
- bbliss17, on 06/12/2008, -1/+6Can't wait until June 17th!
- hmunkey, on 06/12/2008, -0/+5It's a huge improvement.
- Mejogid, on 06/12/2008, -1/+6You mean they've closed the source and removed support for extensions?
- PatrickBrown, on 06/12/2008, -1/+6You are getting buried by users unfamiliar with RC (or perhaps only familiar with Microsoft RCs?). In fact, firefox contributors are hopeful that Firefox will for the most part be renamed to final. There may be very minor fixes, but in general the parent of this comment is correct.
- Seth024, on 06/12/2008, -0/+5Aren't you supposed to just release your last RC as the final product? Any code changes should come with a new RC, and the last RC gets renamed as the final product.
- SPThom, on 06/12/2008, -0/+4Sorry you're getting buried... Your concern is completely valid for someone who hasn't been following the development.
Yes, Firefox 3 is *dramatically* better than Firefox 2. It includes all the functionality of Firefox 2 but the stability and performance of Firefox 1.0. (Well, maybe a bit worse stability--I think the Javascript engine is still the cause of an occasional crash.)
And the "Places" (integrated bookmark & history) feature is awesome... I've never been a fan of bookmarks--too easy to get disorganized, often hard to find what you're looking for--but the new one-click bookmarking, the "Unfiled" bookmarks folder, and bookmark tagging have changed my tune. - duckyinc, on 06/12/2008, -3/+7This DOESN'T matter for linux and windows users (most)
- BSeffrood, on 06/12/2008, -0/+4Bad for you
- mayhemchaos, on 06/12/2008, -1/+5it's been doing that to me too. crashed 9 times when i got it yesterday. june 17th can't come quick enough
- jimbo92107, on 06/12/2008, -1/+5Warning: FF3 release candidates REPLACE your current FF install, so if you don't back up your FF2 install, you'll lose it.
Not much reason for non-testors to jump on this, since the public release of FF3 is scheduled for June 17th. - DixonPro, on 06/13/2008, -0/+4/sex
- bbliss17, on 06/12/2008, -0/+4I am the same way
- Arcanis, on 06/12/2008, -0/+4Glad I'm not the only one...
- mayhemchaos, on 06/12/2008, -3/+7kill yourself
- thefinger, on 06/12/2008, -0/+4Your antispyware program maybe blocks it these days. ??
- Deodrus, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3:-P I only capitalized the extensions to draw attention to the important parts of my post, for speed-readers. If you look at my post, you don't need to bother reading every word. Skim through it and you'll immediately see the three prominent topics (like an outline). I'd bold it instead if it were possible. :-)
Hope the extensions came in handy for you. Drop me a reply if you guys know of any hidden-gems. Sharing is caring (except when you fart).
Oh, with the Flashblock tip... it helps you to quickly whitelist a site, or enable/disable Flashblock, with just two clicks. - Darkx1337, on 06/12/2008, -4/+7http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/nightly
That should force your addons to work. - mattus, on 06/12/2008, -3/+6Do you have any idea how much of a smug ***** you sound like? This attitude is the no. 1 reason why I won't use Apple products.
