sorry just had to. - sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Now I just need to wait and see what wireless keyboards work without issue.
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3RF keyboards appear to work, bluetooth ones do not yet.
- daleeburg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7When will they get Flash 9 working?
(I know it is an adobe problem not a opera problem) - oisact, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23. Only a small subset of widgets are supported. Anecdotally, less then 1/5 of the widgets show up when browsing with Wii Opera.
10. It also makes a beeping sound, sort of like the hourly chime on a wristwatch, when you select the 100% zoom level.

- macweirdo42, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12People dugg it because of the announcement of an Internet channel upgrade, which is cool. As you rightly pointed out, those, the actual article has nothing to do with the announcement. WTF!? Neat that the Internet Channel finally has keyboard support, though.
- worbd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6That press release was about Opera for Wii earlier. Looks like someone pressed the wrong button :D
- worbd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3It did mention Wii earlier.

- vondrak, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17I didn't see anywhere in that link that nintendo was releasing a new version of IC. I also check nintendo homepage and didn't see any announcement. Where are you finding this information?
Is this going to be free like the original or do I have to buy it now?- worbd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+25It's out. Update your Wii, then go to the shop channel. The upgrade is free.
- gummih, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The article states it costs 500 wii points

- ttyler1999, on 11/03/2007, -0/+5I agree completely, however, as I understand it, Adobe only licenses version 7 of Flash for embedded browsers like this one. I found this link for more info:

- dbz253, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6it's ok, this question should be asked more than once
- sdub74, on 10/11/2007, -14/+6Buried as inaccurate. Nowhere does Nintendo or Wii show up in that article.

- fumblr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I'm excited about the support for USB keyboard support, I just hope that it has better support for Flash.
- jordanlund, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7The problem with Flash support has nothing to do with Opera or Nintendo... it has to do with Adobe. For whatever reason they are only licensing Flash 7.0 for non PC devices. Which means that sites which require Flash 8.0 or 9.0 aren't going to work with the Wii for the near future.
- dbz253, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2i think i speak for everyone when i say:

- aqzman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I'd like to try out Opera on my Wii, but it's pretty pointless as I can see my Wii and television from where I'm sitting right now.
- person51090, on 10/11/2007, -13/+3This is one of the most absurd things I have read in a while. "Opera Software, the only company that puts the Web on any device, ..." I have two problems with this statement:
1. You don't "put the Web on a device," you equip a device with a "browser." Similarly, the iPhone is not an "internet communications device," it has a "browser."
2. Sure, Opera Software got the Wii contract. But it is a huge leap for them to declare themselves the only company putting browsers on devices.- Brossman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Because everything in life is absolutely literal.
Opera Software didn't say they're the only company putting browsers on devices. They said they're putting browsers on any device.- MindStalker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Cool, so I should contact them now about putting a browser on my chainsaw?
- Nin10dude, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You can get Linux on it, so, why not?
- tensvb, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1If you will pay them enough I'm sure they will be happy to put Opera on your chainsaw.

Esp. when I imagined little kids and their parents dragging a Bush Mii onto a colored circle, then predicting the outcome of the vote...

"Should bush stay in power ?" Unsurprisingly it has not been asked to the general public yet.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Thats why Bush is where he is now.
- Technoviking, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Does it have tabs?
- suriyou, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10It NEEDS tabs.
- johnnysaucepn, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7It NEEDS more memory, to make tabs even worthwhile using, before tabs can get integrated.
- iofthestorm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Nah, wiiminder.com/net or whatever uses ajax to give you tabs and it works fine. Memory is not an issue here...

- machambi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3thinks to self .. cooll.. but, bluetooth keyboard support would be fabulous. (or i have to find a really long USB chord, or may be there is some wireless USB product available already... have to shop around soon.. )

- munkyxtc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Is this a free update? I haven't used the Wii in awhile; but last I recalled they started charging for the browser download...does the update apply to both the purchased and free version? sorry, didn't rtfa as I'm at work and the proxy hates me.
- Rowan187, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3i believe this is only for the paid version. might as well upgrade now, its only $5 (or you should have downloaded the paid version for free before June 1)
- TjLAXattack, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4No, costs 500 Wii points
- johnnysaucepn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8There is only one version, whether you got it free or not just depends on when you downloaded it.
If you've got the Internet Channel, then the update is free.- munkyxtc, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure and thought maybe they were using the update to coax people into paying...
- MaxUSA, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5FINALLY. USB keyboard support! *digs out extra wireless keyboard*
It's about time. - brainboy77, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2has anyone downloaded it? you know, to see if there really is a difference. just to check.
- jimh54, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1I've downloaded it right now, but the there is nothing about it being keyboard compatible in the description or help sections on the wii. it only says the software must be used with the wii remote. also says it is flash 7 compatible. buried as inaccurate. It was an update though.
- seneyr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Probably the in-system documentation wasn't updated as well. I thought it was Flash 8 compatibile, not Flash 9 since Flash 9 doesn't have an SDK yet....?
- johnnysaucepn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Neither does Flash 8. Flash 7 was the latest version possible until the recent announcement of Flash Lite 3, which is due to be available some time next month, I believe. Then you have all the waiting for development time, and integration, and testing....
- seneyr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Probably the in-system documentation wasn't updated as well. I thought it was Flash 8 compatibile, not Flash 9 since Flash 9 doesn't have an SDK yet....?
- TjLAXattack, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2I can't believe people pay for this. Won't it cost 500 Wii points for those who didn't buy previous update?
- ydt89, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8no...
- TjLAXattack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1whoops i was caught up in the fanboy spam stuff yesterday. thought i read that updates to Wii cost dough. my bad.
- ydt89, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8no...
- rmeddy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Will it be available in Trinidad?
- craigatkinson, on 11/03/2007, -3/+6No Java? No Flash? Ah come on!
- MacHarborGuy, on 11/03/2007, -0/+2it supports Flash, just not Flash 8 or 9. that is an Adobe issue since they only have Flash 7 for mobile systems currently.
- D14BL0, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Here's the actual article.
http://duggmirror.com/software/The_new_Internet_Ch ... - dragonlor20, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1I am having a little trouble seeing why I should pay the 500 Wii points for a browser when Wii already take care of its own updates and I could spend those 500 points on an old class Mario Bros. game!
- MaxUSA, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8If you were on the ball, you would've downloaded it before June, when it was free. ;)
- oisact, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2I've downloaded the new version of Opera, mainly to check out the widgets. The problem is widgets.opera.com only shows a very, very small subset of widgets when browsing on the Wii. Obviously there is some sort of compatibility issue preventing most widgets from running on the Wii's version of Opera. None of the cool widgets show up for the Wii, so I'm rather disappointed. If you visit the widgets site, the home page lists the 12 highest rated widgets. Not one of those shows up on the Wii.
As a side note, when I visited the widgets site before I upgraded Opera, it took me to an Opera download page whenever I tried to use a widget. So that obviously was not working with the older version of Opera. - liuelson, on 10/15/2007, -1/+0Found some keyboard shortcuts for the updated Internet Channel, see http://www.elsonandlarissa.com.nyud.net/wiikeyboar ...
