On my Windows computer! Why? Because I'm not retarded enough to run Pen1sEnlarger.exe. - tuxidomasx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12viruses are going extinct. its all about the spyware and rootkits now.
i remember when viruses tried to crash your computer for no reason at all.
nowadays malicious programs just wanna steal stuff and get your passwords. - LordSkywalker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11They still make viruses? I thought they stopped making those at the same time they stopped making AOL . . .
- grumpyrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I think we can take that list as proof that MS has made great improvements to Windows security. Compare this list to the same list to:
2003: Blaster, Slammer, Sobig, Nachi
2004: Sasser, MyDoom
2005: Zotob
2006: Nymex and a bunch of obscure viruses
Naturally, there is still room for improvement, but this has confirmed my suspicion that SP2 (enabling the firewall) has really had an impact. - b3mus3d, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"Pen1sEnlarger.exe"
Really? You should stop being so narrow minded and try it...
it worked wonders for me. - Leevi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Why not link to the original source? It's directly copy-pasted from http://www.pandasoftware.com/about_panda/press_room/Panda_virus_yearbook.htm
Oh, and F-Secure also released their look on the year 2006 http://www.f-secure.com/2006/2/ They even made a video about it, available in various formats (divx, wmv, etc.) It is in Youtube too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUxRrUZqKyI - walkerj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@dkoon, who ever said that? There's no reason Linux can't get viruses, it's just less likely to than many other operating systems (say MS Windows.)
- deanlowe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I thought it was the year of the Phishing spam e-mail.
- Gizza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"who ever said that? There's no reason Linux can't get viruses, it's just less likely to than many other operating systems (say MS Windows.)"
Thats coos anyone who is dumb enough to get a virus on Windows is too dumb to use Linux. I dont even have the patience to figure out Linux (been using it this past week coos my XP disk is at my parents house, and im hating it) and im a programmer.
"ORLY? guess what, 2/3 of the net runs on linux with apache (aka LAMP)"
Thats coos they are set up by professionals and then basically left alone. Hard to get a virus on a computer that no ones touching. Most viruses, spyware etc, are put on the computer by the user without them knowing it. - joshman5k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6The year of blaster was so much more annoying.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3*Insert obligatory Mac fanboy statement here*
There, that pretty much covers it. - Haohmaru, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Savvy PC and Mac users rarely get virii on either platform
But your average Mac user is as clueless as your average Windows user. Dare I say more due to the fact that Mac does everything it can to simplify the interface. - mxcl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2According to the following link, Gatt.A only works properly on Windows, which is good as I can't be arsed to worry about Viruses on my Linux box yet.
http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/encyclopedia/overview.aspx?IdVirus=122900&sind=0 - miestersean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Digg for the name "Panda Software."
- imyke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sigf
- chrislopez02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its funny who when you get certain virus or spyware infested programs like "pen1senlarger.exe" you sometimes also get a program to get rid of porn in your computer. I ran across that program once when downloading "Fun With Dick and Jane" (the actual movie, but i guess some people took the title out of context and thought it had to do with fun with dick and Jane if you know what i mean.) Of course the more you use the program, the more porn you get in your computer.
- Crossmenjeff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2there is still time
its y2k somewhere! maybe i meant 4:20, either way, the same panicky people will get all anxious about it. - Werrismys, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Year of Winblows viruses, more like.
- Darcy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Has the definition of virus changed?
- MrViklund, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2http://www.pandasoftware.com/
- redxii, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2and I thought this was the year of the desktop Linux.
- dkoon, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4"The most promiscuous. This title goes without a doubt to Gatt.A. This malicious code can infect any platform that it is run on: Windows, Linux, etc."
LOL, who said Linux has no virus. - chrislopez02, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Viruses suck.
- GravisZro, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1@walkerj
"There's no reason Linux can't get viruses, it's just less likely to than many other operating systems (say MS Windows.)"
ORLY? guess what, 2/3 of the net runs on linux with apache (aka LAMP)
that argument is such *****. - monergism, on 10/12/2007, -9/+0Is that sarcasm?
- StatusQuoRules, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2It should be called "The Year In Windows Viruses: 2006"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+4I've never seen any of these....
