The Superbrowser - Firefox with 100 extensions installed
splasho.com — This guy installed 100 very popular extensions on Firefox to stress test it! He says it did pretty well under the load - includes screenshots.
- 1921 diggs
- digg it
- localcelebrity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0impressive as hell
- drunkJerkface, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1no list, no digg.
- AremRed, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1gimme the list, no digg
- dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0awesome
- Seumas, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Hey, I remember this guy! They made a movie about him that I saw just a few weeks ago. It was something like "40 Year Old Virgin", I think!
- Seumas, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1AremRed said "gimme the list, no digg"
My thought, too. I don't think there are even 100 active extensions on mozdev - much less "100 very popular" ones. There sure aren't 100 "very useful" ones. I mean, what - does this guy have the abe vagoda death clock extension, too? - olegk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Impressive mosty because it works. Must be really slow though.
- btipling, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Weird.
- snlildude87, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3looks just like a spyware infested IE
- M3ntok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0That is pure awesome.
- droxy429, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0ew that looks ugly
reminds me of the pic where the guy turned on all the toolbars in MS Word. yuck - Lurk3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Egods, think of the memoryleaks!
- mwales, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2The article has a pathetically small scrollable screen shot. Plain stupid. No digg.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2WHY DO YOU GUYS KEEP BEGGING FOR A LIST. JUST GOTO FIREFOX EXTENSIONS AND ORDER THE LIST BY POPULARITY UP TO 100 LIKE HE DID!!
-sorry for the caps. i was getting ***** off. - MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"looks just like a spyware infested IE"
Except useful spyware :p - mikeylikesit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll make ya trade the list for my digg :-D
- KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0"thats increadble retarded"
yes... yes it is. - Rosco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a great way to bog down an otherwise fast browser. I only have 5 extensions, don't need anymore.
- SPNKrPunk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"looks just like a spyware infested IE"
Looks more like MS Word to me. - Hellomoto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0very cool
dugg - dkarlson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think it's great how folks get so friggin' picky with their diggs.
"The article has a pathetically small scrollable screen shot. Plain stupid. No digg."
So, the whole idea is nullified (or maybe just less than what it should be, in your mind) by a bad choice of screenshots? - davdav, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I wish they had eGator for firefox
- biff198, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1It probably only takes forever to load. I would be more impressed if he actually USED all the extensions for some reasonable reason or another...

http://www.crusaderflash.com/ - iodeken, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1He should just use Opera.
- imdwalrus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone know what extension gave the "I am afraid! (H)" option in the context menu?
- DCash, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Haha, what an idiot.
- EyeDye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmm, I only have 40 extensions installed. Maybe I should have another look through the list. :)
- btnheazy03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+1 Digg simply for the effort.
- xx0xx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0not impressive.
but definitely a classy waste of time. - dielawn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1super browser?
whats so super? the fact that you have 3 inches of screen to surf with? - jsaacmk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not really cool at all.
- albel65, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I almost spilt my soup laughing at how many toolbars there we're.
- andreizilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Extensions should be loaded only when they are called. Then no one can say extensions make the browser slower because it would be as fast as a vergin one.
- digTro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"It was really extraordinarily stable"
For how long did he test it? I have only a handful a extensions and my FireFox crashes on an average once every two days. - jadedknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Looks more like MS Word to me."
hehe funny - mrkredo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That guy is pure genius
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hah, funny stuff. and it goes to show how strong FF is, it can be loaded with enough extensions to make it's browsing space practically useless, and still have hidden toolbars, yet it still works.
i'd still like to see how much memory leaking was done there though, seems like it's probably leaking memory like a strainer. - hellsyeah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have 40 installed by 5 of those are disabled. My fox runs just fine, but my context menu is really long like his.
- cbdgr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah i was wondering the same thing, there needs to be an extention to monitor extentions, based on cpu amount, memory load ect. so find the chinking extentions and get ride of them,
- jczer68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I think back in the FF1.0.x days I had about 70+ extensions installed (50 enabled) and it worked fine for the most part I think... didn't really let it clog up my screen but was a wee bit slow. But nowadays, as a rule, if I'm not using an extension regularly it gets uninstalled or disabled. Same applies to toolbar items, if you see something on the toolbar and you don't know what it is or what it does without peeking at the tooltips, then it's better off gone. Gotta keep my firefox lean.
- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That must use up a gig of memory!
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, my context menu's pretty bad. I have another 2 toolbars too, but at least I have the resolution to deal with that :) (1600)
I would love to switch to Opera, but I'm just hooked on all these damn firefox extensions. - odysseus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To get rid of the long context menu, you need the menueditor extension:
http://menueditor.mozdev.org/
I've stripped mine down to 1 option. - antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Look at the size of his context menu! HAHA
Digg. Great find! - t3hNinj4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bah. I have foxytunes, StumbleUpon, the Google bar, and the Abe Vigoda status bar, and that's all I need.
- ardellin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"looks just like a spyware infested IE"
hahahhhahahahahah - automagically, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats crazy. I see he is using the download sidebar thingy. I have that, very useful. No more annoying download boxes.
- dhughes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 It's IE8 !!
- mackoid101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0omglawlz...
nice comment, though, dhughes. - Rage321, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0lol reminds me of this - http://toadstool.se/journal/images/friends-dont-let-friends-use-ie.jpg
