- grapeape25, on 11/12/2007, -3/+72We do... it's called a TV.
- Jordanco, on 10/12/2007, -6/+51videora is also great!
- norbiu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27The sound is always out of sync whenever I convert with Videora.
- PureGamer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25Video out cables = win.
Most of the time though, I just use mine for porn, which doesn't require a huge screen. - MagnumVP, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Here is an alternate link.

- foovo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Well at least battery life is not a problem.
- Rhine23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I think there is a Handbreak for windows ie the version on this page http://handbrake.m0k.org/?page_id=8
- h00ligan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11it's really funny this made the front page - I have been looking at, for the last 10 hrs finding the best one - and they are all coming up short - so now i have one more to try - thanks!
Videora is good but lacks the cropping and does some weirdo things by default.. on the mac visualhub is the jam - but nothing like that for windows.
I need something that does a 2 pass 1500kbit h264 file direct from dvd with chapter support. Handbrake on windows is failing.. all of the imtoo etc clones don't handle 2 pass h264, if h264 at all... the rest of the others had weirdo resizing issues...
god i hope this is good, because the state of converters for windows is HORRIBLE. - cds0528, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10personally I think SUPER does a better job (and has more options) than all of these (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html)

- Add "async 1" to custom flags - thunderer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9iSquint, made by the same company - http://www.isquint.org/
It's a tad buggy and weird, but not enough to negate that fact that it's free. - covercash, on 07/01/2009, -0/+8I use VisualHub on my mac. From their site:
Fast conversion from nearly every video format to iPod, PSP, DV, DVD, Tivo, AVI, MP4, WMV, MPEG and Flash.
http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/
EDIT: looks like claughery and dfunct got to it first. - Ipp07, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9I don't know how you can get hard off a 2'' screen. Guess you don't mind small things
- jpjandrade, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7ImTOO is amazing, and as a Digg user you probably won't have to pay for it...
http://www.imtoo.com/dvd-to-ipod-converter.html - luigi1015, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I have one gripe with Videora. Maybe I'm just stupid for not noticing how to do this, but I can't seem to queue up videos without it starting on the first one. That would be fine and save a little time to boot, but once it starts on a video it just about locks up until it finishes (for me at least) and it takes me so long to queue up the next one I might as well do each video one at a time.
So I love Videora for transcoding videos one at a time, but not for the batch transcoding I usually am doing (i.e. the TV series and the many movies I own on DVD). - adc89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5VisualHub is better and Mac native.
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I agree, it's the only one I use
- skarbreeze, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Enter the Cowon A2 (4 inch screen, 8 hours battery life watching video/16 audio);
http://www.cowonamerica.com/products/cowon/a2/
If you don't mind shelling out a bit more than an iPod, it's wicked nice. Plays Divx and Xvid right out of the box, FLAC audio etc etc. Don't even need to bother converting most stuff that you download/torrent. I love this thing. Not much bulkier than a 5th gen iPod either. - ctc803, on 10/12/2007, -0/+53gp video converter does all that stuff for me too
http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/article_avi2ipod_page1.html - holyskeleton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"IPOD Video Converter For Free" what a name.
- dfunct, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Or go straight to the horses mouth, http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub and the best bit is that it can make use of Xgrid to help cut down total encoding time for a batch of files.
- ThreeDee912, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5FYI: VLC can also convert almost any kind of video to an MP4 (iPod video format). The feature isn't that well-known.
- bchang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is great but does anyone know a really good Windows straight Ipod-DVD converter, like Handbreak for the Mac?
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The problem I've had with any iPod video I've used was keeping the audio in sync with the video. With short videos it never seemed to be a problem. With feature length films or 40 minute shows... it goes all out of wack. I've read various tricks to keep it in sync, but I've never had any success with it.
- dumbkiwi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4For linux there is thinliquidfilm - http://thinliquidfilm.org
Will convert any format that ffmpeg can read and convert it into ipod compliant video, with several different quality settings. It also allows you to upload to your ipod direct from the application, and create video playlists. - robshoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If you're on a Mac, nothing beats iSquint. Google it.
- paul2112, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3im paul im a total douchebag delete everything i submit im a retard i suck give me some metal penis' to play with i like men ummmmm.
- clearzen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No, there is two of us apparently.
- krinn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This video converter probably uses ffmpeg too.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That'll be your PC.
- yeahaboutthat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow. That's a trooper. You don't mind if I go sit over there do you?
- claughery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3if you might use one of those macintosh computers, check out visualhub @ macupdate.com
best drag and drop program to re-encode videos to anything (including dvd iso's) - GTanaka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Never EVER had a problem with MediaCoder for anything. Only downside is that it may seem "bloated" if video -> iPod is all you want, but I happen to use it for a lot of things.
http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/ - catylist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this is much better and you don't have to install. just drag and drop

- Markpdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm always amazed when these things come up that no one knows about Super: http://www.erightsoft.net/SupCk2.html
It converts anything, to anything, video wise. Its free, simple to use, so why don't more people know about it?
Its a shame their website sucks so much and they make you click the download link three times or so before it does anything, but its worth the trouble! :) - cliffyboro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you beat me to it :). I 3gp converter is 1st class. I use it for my iPod, Mobile phone and PSP. Its fast and extremely simple to use.
- mykelefty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i uses xilisoft's dvd ripper for my ipod
- roomaustin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that is some fast converting!
- bssj4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I find that VLC Player is the best for converting movies.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Meh, Quicktime Pro does the job for me just fine. Someone once told me that you had to pay for Quicktime Pro... how silly of them.
- catylist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3this is much better and you don't have to install. just drag and drop
http://www.nurs.or.jp/~calcium/3gpp/3GP_Converter034.zip - ewcost, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Wow, a converter for the iPod that only works on a PC. Nice.
- AngelBunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@krinn
probably. the more I look at most video encoding programs today all I see is a gui war. if anything it is kind of cheap, and to think people make money off of making programs like this... - AF-Geek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Better link - Direct to download mirror page: http://www.erightsoft.net/S6Kg1.html#Down
Thanks for the tip Markpdotcom! - tinzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Videora looks better, but this one was really fast and easy. I'm on my way to uninstalling Videora now.
