- BooshTukka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you put the effort in, it does work. I have it running under OSX 10.4, no problems.
- G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pretty useful, if only it was just integrated with the acutal clients.... :)
- snarkle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The latest uTorrent with RSS and the eztv rss feed are doing exactly this without consuming all my resources!
uTorrent

VTV
http://tvrss.net/sources/vtv/ - ephekt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A perl script and NZB processor is still better than a crappy Java program and BitTorrent. No Digg.
- tellman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this smells like a set-up from "big brother".. be cautios
- BooshTukka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Television Episode Downloader. Not complicated.
- zone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i loved tvtad, but haven't used it since utorrent 1.4 (rss support)
- Technology, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No Mac support for something that says it supports Mac equals no digg.
- Opelious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Couldn't you just use a torrent client with an RSS reader/filter? I did the exact same thing with Azureus (with RSS plugin) before I got a PVR. Setup the feed from the torrent site, add what items I wanted it to automatically download (in this case, TV shows), and set it to go. This way, whenever theres a new entry for that show, the RSS reader downloads the torrent, and Azureus starts to download automatically. This way, I could be at work/school/out while Azureus is running, and when the torrent is released on the site, Azureus will grab it, and usually, by the time I got back home, it's downloaded.
I believe uTorrent has this as well, which is pretty cool. As long as you have a TV torrent site, just use an RSS reader and you won't have to worry about any middle man. - TheRappingShoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So its a bittorrent client with RSS support and a rubbish name? Fantastic. :|
- ttkgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ted is the name of United's low-cost airline. Good luck with this name.
- Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0uTorrent doesn't run on Linux, though. Is there a good, lightweight torrent downloader for linux (Azureus is too bloated)? Preferably something I can apt-get install into debian.
- ZinZa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 Dhalgren: apt-get install rtorrent
It's a curses (console) based, works great in screen too :D - paulypopex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I knew torrentspy did an rss feed, didn't realise it worked like that though, nice! Now how to filter out all the repeats - I can't be downloading 8 differently named copies of the same episode of Lost...
- takagari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is there a program like this for nzb files????
:D :D - serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry for the n00b question, but is there a torrent/RSS program that runs on the xbox? It would be great to leave the xbox on all day long downloading and come home with a slew of TV eps ready to go.
- Ace2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks freelance24
This program rocks! - freelance24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well the good thing is that i didnot know that there was an update to java
LOL - slainte1971, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.rulecam.net/ted/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8
If you haven't confirmed multi-platform support, please, don't advertise it. n_o__D_i_g_g - G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmm, the only gray part I could see would be the fact that he lists the shows.
- Loony, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The poster seems very excited! Must end every sentence with a exclamation mark!
- GirSaysDoom13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0aww, doesn't work for macs. too bad, but does tvtad? that would be great.
- paulypopex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, that's probably the best way with torrents. Likewise with videoing - I think it's best to wait until the programme starts and then press the record button. Non of this new fangled "programming" for me!
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why doesnt hollywood do something like this. Seed some torrents and then charge for the use of their software. You can get the files whether you pay or not but the publishers have the best clients for us to use with easy searching and downloading and a way to catalog everything...
- recover82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i like all the unncessary ***** that guy is running in his system tray.
(check the screenshots) - CUBApete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow...I got this p.o.s., but it didn't work and now I can't delete it. It says access denied. Sorry for being a n00b, but I usually don't work with crap programs. Any way to delete it?
- Kirtan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is a pretty sweet program. it works flawlessly.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used TVTAD, but after updating uTorrent to 1.4 and checking out the RSS reader, both TVTAD and this Ted are useless to me. uTorrent is where the flava is.
- mrbean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't see a linux version, and this could easily be done with a perl script.
- Uriah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Phft! This looks like a partially functional TVTAD or uTorrent or Azureus Plugin RSS Feed Scanner. This is old technology and this revamp of it, doesn't even seem to be special!
No digg for you! - j0keR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So Ted Ted is going to download my shows for me?
- Psykus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Are Tad and Ted brothers?
- happbando, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so much for multi-platform. even if it did run on mac, there aren't any instructions.
- HyTrojan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...wonder if Ted will add a nuke watch feature in the next release
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0jesus christ the page background gives me headaches
- lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0tell me when they got ted for dummies! jar files? I mean, cmon!
lukas, out - Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No reason to use things like this when it's built into µtorrent. Well, I guess µtorrent's RSS feeds aren't exactly easy to understand but once you get it set up it rocks. AND you don't have to run another program... it's all built in.
- erissiva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm....Used TVTAD until uTorrent just upgraded with RSS support.
Bye-bye Tad and Ted. - llnk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry guys, i think i like TVTAD better.
- diggidydawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty cool, thanks
- evilneuro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Azureus + SafePeer + RSSFeed + SpeedScheduler does all this, and lets you pick which release group's file you get each week. Much more powerful and much more useful than this, which looks like it was hacked together in a day with Delphi :( No digg.
- paulypopex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and now the post I was replying to is GONE!
- aklungland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0United Airlines might find this to be a copyright violation considering they have new service named "Ted"
- eigh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"this smells like a set-up from "big brother".. be cautios"
i agree with you after i saw that the page gave you instructions on how to put ted in your start menu, wow. they claim that they cant do this because ted is multiplatform they cant do it for you. guess what, azureus is multiplatform and they have a build for each system.
as far as the big brother angle goes this prog could help MPAA/RIAA/TVAA in one of two ways
1. catch you downloading tv episodes
or better yet
2. find sites that host the tv episodes from the feed
all they ahve to do is follow the rss feed back to the site and then they can take down the site. it seems like this is specified to only be used for tv episodes. until now there really hasnt been much hunting of tv episodes. ON TOP OF THAT, their email is ted@gmail.com????? neither of the "author's" names are ted. what are the chances that ted@gmail.com wasnt registered, or the fact that 2 or 3 years ago when gmail first came out they hopped on and registered ted@gmail.com to themselves.
the whole site just stinks of lies to me. the only way i would be somewhat trusting of that prog is if you could monitor its net traffic and know every ip that it tries to go to. even then i know azureus isnt working for big brother so i think ill just stick to taht. - lilricky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oops, scratch that, had it set up to use virtualpc for java files, doesnt work natively
- lilricky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Need to install latest java, works fine in my mac
- cessax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i bet the MPA made this program and they are setting a trap! haha
- AtomicTheory, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Your new way of downloading tv shows from the web!"
A little presumptuous, don't you think?
TVTad already does this, and has for quite some time.
