- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Sorry, you lost me at step 1.
- Blobster2005, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10www.gcalsync.com for direct information on the app.
- scrm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Here's another one joining the Google Calendar/mobile synching craze: http://www.goosync.com/ . I haven't tried it yet, but this version does need your Google username and password (the next won't). So if you're picky about this kinda thing, set up another Google account with a calendar, use that calendar to synch with your mobile via this tool, and share that calendar with your existing Google account so it's all in one place.
Gmail contacts synchronising in the pipeline with this one too. - Yez70, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7T-mobile phones are hackable - google is your friend :)
- thomasold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6To quote my own posting in http://groups.google.com/group/gcalsync:
The "test" function tries to connect to a couple of sites just to see that network
connections works. Nothing is sent to the site, GCalSync just tries to
connect and checks if the connection is successful (i.e. checks the
HTTP response code). You can read the code yourself here:
http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gcalsync/src/com/gcalsync/TestCompo...
This code was not meant to be part of production code, but I left it in
there since it turned out to be very practical to have a way to verify
if basic networking is working since this is an often-reported problem.
FYI: altinn.no is the site for reporting tax information to the
Norwegian government. nettbank.edm.com is a Norwegian online bank. I
wanted to test a couple of different sites to see whether the specific
SSL certificate used mattered.

- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -7/+10Looks like a great tool, T-Mobile customers beware though as your phones are mostly locked.
I have this AWESOME t809 (matrix-style slider) and no unsigned Java applets can run on the phone.
I inserted the A word to get +diggs - binarymelon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone no why the app is trying to connect to altinn.no?
- fishbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wow, blog spam from Kevin Rose... what's the world coming to?

http://www.gcalsync.com/ - infernix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well, seems I'm too quick to judge. It's working pretty well now on my Nokia N91. Haven't ran into any problems so far :)
- tmlfan81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If I wasn't already using a PDA to manage my calendar and contacts, I'd actually use BitPIM to sync my phone's calendar with Google.
- unsliced, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2iSync.
I use Google Calendars, iCal and a Palm Tungsten T5 (and my mobile phone too). Works seamlessly. - l0th, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm a windows users, so iSync won't work for me. Besides, I don't think iSync does two-way sync: I believe that events created in iCal or on your Palm are not uploaded to your google calendar.
- MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You would have to be an idiot to submit your login name and password to this website. Sounds like a scam to me.
- dr_rock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I tried this. It's complicated and fragile... it's hard to keep everything playing nice without doing 10 extra steps every day to sync everything. Also, most of the tools mentioned are alpha quality.
- alen3K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn. I tought it will sync my phone-calendar to Google`s one. :(
- l0th, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good for people who want to use their phone as PIM.
But... what about all the PDA users? Sure there's goosync.com, but if I could get on the internet with my Palm I would just browse to my google calendar... What we need is a *conduit* for offline syncing. The guy who makes and start selling such a conduit is going to be rich. I just I knew how to code... - elmwood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apparently the T-Mobile MDA makes me very special? Because I know its not out of date, and I don't think I'm too bleeding edge for digg...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So this won't work with a T-Mobile phone?
- intent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry, but Rogers Canada has a crazy-expensive data rate. I use bluetooth and iSync instead.
- Negative_Creep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just what I was looking for.
- TroubleShooter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"doesn't work" is a bit strong for the p990. Runs then asks permission to use the Internet, read and update the calendar. Sync'd down my existing Google Calendar to the phone. However...
* Some appointments were out by an hour
* Changing the options to sync more than 1 day before resulted in a URI error on sync
* Added a test event in the phone calender, then got a URI error trying to sync it back.
This is the first app. I installed for my phone, so maybe some newbie issues here on my part. Gonna wander over to SourceForge and see whether these are known issues, or how easy it is to develop for the phone, as I want to be hacking it to bits anyway.
Like other posters said - not ready for prime-time yet, however will be exceedingly useful when it is. - kingtaj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, the first time I tried this with my Nokia E61 (about a month ago), I had big problems. But recently, it seems much better.
- se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A friend of mine just passed this link on to me today. This should work with most PDA phones (Treo 650). It's quite detailed and I have yet to try it out. If you've tried this, please let us know how it works.

Have fun ;-) Seriously, you can sync names and phone numbers, not less not more.
Greeting from Munich! - MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anybody know how to get something like this to work on the Motorola Q? Or at least how to download it as a .cab file?
- LordJezo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man.
Does not work on the LG Fusic on Sprint. It comes back saying it's an unsigned app (even the signed app link) and won't install. That's odd considering I have been able to install just about everything else out there on my phone, including some dopey freeware games I found sitting around the net.
Has anyone eben able to get it working on Sprint LG phones? - dr_rock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1[deleted]
- infernix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Unfortunately this tool still needs a lot of work. I'll give the newest version a shot, but the previous release was quite buggy.
That said, once it'll work, this can be very useful. There aren't many alternatives to synchronizing with MS Outlook for phones, so any competition is very welcome. Synchronizing with Google Calendar might also be a way to sync other open source apps that have Google support. I know that Kronolith (Horde) is working on SyncML support, but last time I checked that wasn't usable yet. - zeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Currently doesn't work on SonyEricsson P910 and P990. Too bad.
- thomasold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> Damn. I tought it will sync my phone-calendar to Google`s one. :(
That is exactly what GCalSync is supposed to do. Doesn't it work on your phone? - DCGUY12, on 09/10/2008, -0/+1http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2007/12/google-ca ...
Been out since 2007? I'm confused? - Ennoch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In the UK, you can get it done for a tenner at most no-name phone shops. Probably the same elsewhere too.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Depends on the model. If you have a t-mobile samsung it's very unlikely because of their firmware revision dealing with unsigned java applets.
Give it a shot though, not every phone is locked in the same way.. - Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1But it's been updated since 138 days ago. Every time a new Firefox beta or RC comes out it ends up on Digg, so why should this be different?
- alen3K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was looking for this for my Nokia N91. Hope it works
- andrewlim85, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I like google calander. I don't own a fairly advance phone but the notification service, worth it all. With this addition, i think it's gonna take google's service to a whole new level.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"It works for most phones including Blackberry.."
Blackberry isn't really MOST phones.. it's actually quite a departure from most phones. I think a more accurate statement would have been that it works with most java-based phones.
Cool none-the-less. - vronp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You don't understand the English language do you? The author did not state that Blackberries constitute "most phones". I suggest you read the sentence again (and again) until you understand it.
- conkerdonker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Reply,
Downloaded events happily with my N73 but uploaded events are not being shown on google calenders?
If you really want this functionality then Yahoo go mobile is the only decent product on the market. - jrinco11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0tried on unlocked cingular 8125 - both signed/unsigned gave "unable to verify signature" and couldn't install :-(
- usherzx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1so it only works if you have internet on your phone plan?
- timbarlotta, on 09/22/2009, -0/+0You can try http://contactimporter.sourceforge.net for importing google contacts.
- trueking7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1...as a close friend of mine would say ...."cooler!" I love the show Kevin. You guys hiring?
- wadaodi, on 02/17/2009, -0/+0I always use Blackberry Converter, it works well.
- 2L84ME, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It sounds cool and supports my phone.
But the first 'known bug' scares me: "events appear a couple of hours too late or too early". - dvdmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have a Treo 700P and a hosted Exchange account through 1&1. I sync my email with Outlook at home via Exchange/IMAP, and sync it on my Treo with ChatterEmail. I have a couple of Google calendars which I sync with Outlook via a free open-source tool called "RemoteCalendars" (http://remotecalendars.sourceforge.net/). I then sync my my calendar and address book/contacts between Outlook and the Treo wirelessly via Versamail (automatically timed while I'm asleep). Result is that I can add stuff in Outlook, on my Treo, or in Google Calendars, and it will appear on the others within a short period. This isn't something easy for non-techies, but it's easier than it used to be as more companies realize why the Blackberry is so popular. Google needs to provide its own solutions, and partner with phone manufacturers or phone OS companies just as they have to bring a Google Maps interface to so many phones.
- vufone, on 02/05/2009, -0/+0I much better solution is vufone.com check it out http://www.vufone.com
- tecizak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does not work on the Motorola Q, sadface.
