If your email is critical then you shouldn't be using a free service you have 0 control over and no guarantees, or if you must use a free service then get a local mail client so you can maintain a copy of all your correspondance independently if something goes wrong.

I did think there was a pattern there, that relatively newer accounts are getting disabled (mine was less than week old... all my 1+ year accounts are doing fine, thank god), but apparently, at least some very old accounts are also getting nixed. I have 3 different email accounts forwarding to my Gmail account, which is the only one that'll update my iPhone mail correctly (most of the time, anyway) without having to pay $100 a year for a .mac account to the dicks at Apple, who can never seem to get enough of my money. Come on, google. You're the biggest company out there doing this. Get your ***** together, please....

Personally I don't consider gmail to be free at all. I am giving them my time and my business.
