- hankosky, on 12/06/2007, -20/+123Kevin Rose, Now is the time to offer @digg.com Email address!
- Identity4, on 12/06/2007, -4/+84does anybody have the switchboard number for the CA governor's office? only ONE man can save us now...
- seandfeeney, on 12/06/2007, -1/+60Ohh.. So that is why gmail is still beta!
- xmuskrat, on 12/06/2007, -4/+57This happened to my friend today after I got him to switch over to gmail in the last few days. I told him how reliable the service was and that I have had it for years. And then the pull this, I look like a jackass.
- hankosky, on 12/06/2007, -4/+43What sucks is, as i try to remember passwords for sites that i am
registered to, i am trying to change my email address on them. Most of
them want me to Click a Link sent to my OLD email account in order to
change...... How the heck am i gonna do that? - fkr3, on 12/06/2007, -1/+39Unpopular but true. If your email is critical then you shouldn't be using a free service you have 0 control over and no guarantees, or if you must use a free service then get a local mail client so you can maintain a copy of all your correspondance independently if something goes wrong.
- nfollmer, on 12/06/2007, -9/+40Mine works fine too, but I won't be as harsh.
- neoform, on 12/06/2007, -12/+40> We filled out the form but some people were saying it can take several days for them to respond and that's not acceptable.
Waa waa. My FREE email account isn't working and they wont reply to me right away. - turrican, on 12/06/2007, -0/+25Somehow I doubt that Google uses digg to monitor their systems.
- DiggzDE, on 12/06/2007, -3/+26And clog Digg with all of our "spam" porn emails? Please, even Digg's servers can't stand that bandwidth hog.
- Qumahlin, on 12/06/2007, -4/+27So that Kevin can deal with people bitching everytime a FREE service goes down? yeah...sounds appealing
- skrowl, on 12/06/2007, -4/+26Just got this email (to my alternate email), but my account is still disabled:
Hello,
Thank you for your report.
We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. The issue you
described should now be resolved. If you continue to experience
difficulties, please respond to this message, and we'll investigate
further.
Sincerely,
The Google Team - hmunkey, on 12/07/2007, -0/+20The sad thing is, he could still kick your ass.
- frerf, on 12/06/2007, -5/+24mine too-- & i've multiple accounts forwarding to it that I can't get into, including work-related... perhaps I shouldn't rely on a free service for stuff thats so important but .... its google.... its supposed to work...
- rawheadrex, on 12/06/2007, -4/+23From the thread over at Google Groups. Totally sucks.
I did think there was a pattern there, that relatively newer accounts are getting disabled (mine was less than week old... all my 1+ year accounts are doing fine, thank god), but apparently, at least some very old accounts are also getting nixed. Hmm. - never2loud, on 12/06/2007, -17/+36This is a bunch of crap. I have 3 different email accounts forwarding to my Gmail account, which is the only one that'll update my iPhone mail correctly (most of the time, anyway) without having to pay $100 a year for a .mac account to the dicks at Apple, who can never seem to get enough of my money. Come on, google. You're the biggest company out there doing this. Get your ***** together, please....
- Qumahlin, on 12/06/2007, -2/+19So, google has an issue and you immediately have no confidence in them? You seem pretty fickle for someone paying nothing...
- dawglse, on 12/06/2007, -5/+22If you want to become professor you might want to work on your English.
Unless.... you meant applying for a class. (I couldn't tell) - D3koy, on 12/06/2007, -2/+17Most of us know how to digg a story...And that'll not get any more attention from Google...I imagine they already know and are currently trying to fix it...
- frerf, on 12/06/2007, -2/+15ITS BACK. hallelujah. Mine is back & I've seen a couple similar comments on the google forums.
- whitehatlurker, on 12/06/2007, -3/+15Might be fixed. Posting on the forum says:
Gmail Guide Dec 6, 2:42 pm
Hi everyone,
I understand that some of you have had a frustrating experience with your accounts being inappropriately disabled. Our team is aware of the problem, and our engineers are continuing to investigate. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Gmail Guide - stoanhart, on 12/06/2007, -3/+15Um, I'm pretty sure Google engineers are hard at work figuring this out. After all, it's bad for the company. Swamping the secretaries with thousands of phone calls will not accelerate anything.
- Soofi, on 12/06/2007, -2/+14I know why others are digging you down, but you get a digg up from me. I think everyone should be able to see and take delight in your seriously serious instructions on how to digg a story. It made my day.
- vdxc, on 09/29/2008, -11/+23So, let me get this straight. You are using a FREE service with no guarantees as apposed to a service with guarantees, get upset when Google fails to meet the exceptions that you have of a service with no promises, and you think that suddenly you are in charge.
- voyvf, on 12/06/2007, -1/+13Good for you. Be FURIOUS!
It's a free service. If there's downtime (which is rare) you don't exactly have much call to complain. - Calcularius, on 12/06/2007, -1/+12"A lot of us Rely on Gmail!"
*points and laughs @ people getting what they pay for* - dacheetah, on 12/06/2007, -1/+12Sure they do...
NASA also monitors all their space probes through digg. - surfing, on 12/06/2007, -1/+11Only a few hours old? Spammer.
- D3koy, on 12/06/2007, -2/+12This isn't a help forum...Try Google forums...
- Makaveli604, on 12/06/2007, -5/+14Using Gmail is geeky enough for me, but that is still an interesting idea.
- SideshowShan, on 12/06/2007, -3/+12Mine is back too!! Hopefully I didn't lose any important e-mails when they were getting bounced...
- rtgordon, on 12/06/2007, -2/+11That's the downside of participating in a BETA.
- WAPCE, on 12/06/2007, -3/+12Back now, but it doesn't do much for all those bounced emails, ugh...
- Scopitone, on 12/06/2007, -2/+11Our greatest fears realized!
- somad, on 12/06/2007, -2/+10I've had the same problem all day. I hope they'll fix it soon. I am loosing time and money. I can't believe that they haven't had the decency of posting anything on their site. My entire day was wasted. I am in Europe and this problem started at 4:40am EST
- BlackAle, on 12/06/2007, -6/+14I guess you believe nothing exists outside of the US
- Drizzit, on 12/06/2007, -5/+12You beat me to it!
Why does it seem like a cut and paste though? Or do people really try to block their paragraphs like that on purpose? - Chickenlip, on 12/06/2007, -1/+8As a web developer myself, I think this problem has nothing to do with web development, but their backend service architecture.
My confidence in Steamthrower is starting to wear off. - Qumahlin, on 12/06/2007, -3/+10Couldn't have said it better myself. While I do feel sorry for those this is happening too, it's a free service...and should be treated as such meaning if you want accountability and priority support you better start using a pay service
- AudioPhil3, on 12/07/2007, -1/+8Is Skynet iPhone compatible?
- MonkCanatella, on 12/07/2007, -0/+6Why would people dig this guy down?
- renegade1029, on 12/06/2007, -4/+10"Amlan Datta Chowdhury (amlan4u)

Not everyone is from the US you know... - gwinerreniwg, on 12/07/2007, -0/+6Thanks for letting us know, we were holding our collective breaths, and were about to light votive candles.
- p0ss, on 12/07/2007, -3/+9Google makes billions, their gmail service contributes to this. If nothing else, the brand loyalty created by gmail generates millions for gmail.
Personally I don't consider gmail to be free at all. I am giving them my time and my business. I could just as easily use hotmail or one of the others, but i use google, and they profit from it. - jacquesm, on 12/07/2007, -2/+8that's what you get for promoting services that you yourself have no control over. Lesson learned ?
- euro22, on 12/17/2008, -2/+8the TECHNOVIKING!
- OrangeTide, on 12/07/2007, -0/+6I'm running SKYNET off Amazon S3.
- Chakat, on 12/07/2007, -0/+5Or you can pay the $20/year or so to get a domain and a pop account somewhere. Cheapass.
- tyndago, on 12/06/2007, -4/+9My account is disabled since yesterday. My googlepages , my picasa , my adwords, my blogger. This is very frustrating. I have filled in the forms. I hope its back up soon.
I really enjoyed my Gmail experience , but its good to hear that a lot of other people are having the same issue. Well not good, but comforting that I didn't do something wrong. -
