*uninstalls the POC that is Festoon/vSkype - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No linux support? Screw off SKYPE!
- supremo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Please, gimme Mac/Linux support :-)
- dickyducky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1too bad... it dun support mac os...
"you need a PC running Windows 2000 or XP. The new video feature requires Windows XP." - DJSdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The day Skype doesn't crash or works perfectly the first time I try and conference with my partners, is the day I'll eat my damn VoIP phone next to me.
- fibber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0eh?
- bloodwings, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0almost caught up to msn who had this for years, and windows has had netmeeting for who knows how long.
- mavsman78, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks like you're first to submit this. Very nice. I saw it on skype.com earlier, but didn't think to digg it.
- ScottBookG4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great submission, but keep your opinions on other UNRELATED stories to yourself or go post comments with that story...where it belongs. Not all of us care what you think.
- Skettalee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So has anyone tried it? I used to use skyptopia or whatever that thing was called and that worked good. I cant wait to try this one out!
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol about the description.
- gatobrit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No call recording. I am very disappointed. I know recording is possible but Gizmo has this built-in...
- TeChGuRL19, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool i think i'll dig in and buy a webcam now!
- chicagobiker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0iChat on Mac OS has been doing everything Skype does except call landlines for at least 2 years.
- Senescence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is there any way to get this thing to call a landline or cell phone internationally? For free? If not, whats the best option?
- joshpape, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hopefully they will soon release a mac version so that finally I can easily run a webcam between a mac and pc.
- kev26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks. Ya, I couldn't believe it either. Had to do about 5 searches before I convinced myself to submit it.
- mojaam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love it! But I have nobody to call to use it :(.
- NoonienSoong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0w00t!
- kungfustickman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't it seem like Skype is adding a bit of eye candy? Not that it matters but it looks like it's trying to be a lit more like AOL...you know that new Skype icon. Really shiny.
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Skype 2.0 rocks! I've tested the webcam feature and it is excellent compared to most of the others out there. It is too bad it's Windows-only for now, but I'm sure that will change. It is only Beta after all.
- jugaaru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone have tried the video feature, I am in school, no webcams.
- br0ken1128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Because of this digg, I got a skype account, bought my own skypein number and bought skypeout credit. Furthermore, I also have a dualphone on the way ;)
NICE - stisev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Holy *****! DIGGED
- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now I can see all those Egytian rapists on video!
- mjar81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0:( no OS X version.
- diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The interface is clunky, it'll take some getting used too. I can't wait until I get to use iChat AV in January
- GirSaysDoom13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hmph, skype has usually been good about their mac versions. poo-ey.
- zeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It works great! I have tested the video feature and it works very nicely indeed.
- rhyno2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yay for CUSeeMe v23.0! Yawn.
...where are all the good reflectors these days? :P - cdmarcus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If it has support for sharing desktops, Festoon is getting kicked off my computer.
- zforrester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0actually, they have releaed a new mac version, though it's not 2.0 and it doesnt have video, yet
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15805 - thewoolleyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder if PriceRitePhoto has any good deals on webcams...
- jayf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is great news. But I guess the Mac version will come out a little later and I'll have to hold onto 1.3.
- kev26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Glad everyone is liking the Digg. Sorry for the cheapshot at priceritephoto in the description, I knows its off topic but I couldn't help myself.
- tolkachi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0***** Steve Phillips
- strangeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hehe. Where Skype shows how to download and install Skype: In the download screenshots they use the Opera browser *g*
- t3hX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mac version. When?
- ptknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The sound quality is still one of the best, but I kinda felt like the msn's video is smoother. Any one with me on this?
- harrisbradley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Super-digg for the PriceRite comment
- akumiszcza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@strangeman:
Well, it's actually Firefox, not Opera. Look at the second dialog box screenshot -- it even has Firefox icon. - scairborn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Awesome news... and I think any priceritephoto reference should get a automatic bid to the front page...haha
Well I have to go video call someone now. - Maagic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0'You mean I gotta get a camera now??'
- stupid person to tech support - en3r0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I almost feel bad for PriceRitePhoto... wait, no I dont lol :)
- DJSdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Haha and priceritephoto and lick my ass too. Those guys should be put in jail and then have signs hung over their necks that say "child molestor" so they get what's coming to them.
- SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0what is this garbage about asslicking? what is priceritephoto and why do you want them to tongue your anus hole?
- mavranos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Having just been exposed to PriceRitePhoto's subversive notions, I ponder how best to express my disgust at PriceRitePhoto's total lack of sensitivity and reasoning. Read on, gentle reader, and hear what I have to say. We must push a consistent vision that responds to most people's growing fears about prolix palookas. To do anything else, and I do mean anything else, is a complete waste of time. "PriceRitePhoto" has now become part of my vocabulary. Whenever I see someone create some self-deceiving, pseudo-psychological profile of me to discredit my opinions, I tell him or her to stop "PriceRitePhoto-ing". PriceRitePhoto exhibits an air of superiority. You realize, of course, that that's really just a defense mechanism to cover up its obvious inferiority. In closing, I consider this letter to be required reading for everyone who still cares that PriceRitePhoto's conclusions are a quick-fix detour, a placebo aimed at surface symptoms, and an excuse to combine, in a rare mixture, bestial cruelty and an inconceivable gift for lying. Unfortunately, with our nation's media being as controlled as it is, there's no way that this letter will be widely publicized. Therefore, I'm counting on you to pass on this letter to all of your e-mail contacts. Thank you.
I still love that complaint letter generator! - ronin9, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Video seems to not be working for me. Can anyone confirm this?
