- Tommy2k4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Didn't Dell recently announce that they wouldn't be pre-installing lots of software on their XPS line?
- dylan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Money.
- tcooper185, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3On a machine I just configured online (cheap machine) it was $10. You have to select it...otherwise, you get the backup on your Hard Drive, and you have to copy off the image.
- volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow that didn't take long for them to go back on their word about pre-installing unwanted software on their XPS systems.

how? - rybo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What does Dell get out of all this bloat?
- ronaldb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So, what is installed on the average Dell these days:
* Google desktop?
* Skype?
* Trial version of Quickbooks
* Trial version of...
Plus you have to pay $10 extra to have your own CD of Windows XP, which comes with the computer...? WTF? Next step is $10 for the manuals to the computer??? - ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow gee.. thank God!... That would save me the 10 seconds download. (Until the next update)
- jo42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What I do when I get a new Dell:
1) Boot special CD.
2) GDISK 1 /DISKWIPE
3) Re-install WinXP from OEM CD.
--digg; // to pre-installed crap on any machine - msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3So now we have google software, and skype software shipping on these machines. Someone should start a tally.
- EmileVictor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Does dell come with a windows XP installation disk? It'd be a pain in the ass if you couldn't format the drive without losing your OS (Ubuntu anyone?).
- chad3405, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As long as you select the option to get the windows xp re-installation disk when you are ordering your computer, you will get a standalone windows xp cd.
- constantine11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1More software pre-installed on Dell machines? Great!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You can get a copy for about 5 bucks from Dell.
- dylan, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4More of a reason to format the drive before you even think of booting into Dell's crap ridden customised install of Windows for the first time.
- feshmania, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1This makes me angry. And, Dell, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
- FuzzyCat, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2
... someone should just not buy dell crap anyway....
