- dhughes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Did you guys read the News section at the bottom of their webpage?
"On 28.08.2005 we subscribe to download.com. with an silver listing (99 USD per month) to get an alternative download link for our software. The news of the day is: They decline our listing. They wrote we break their subcription rules.
This is an very intersting issue, cause our software do not contain any illegal part. No DeCSS, no Trojan, no Virus, no AddWare and no SpyWare. Also we do not conatin casino or porn.
But why they decline? Special if you take a look into their listing, where they list very much DVDCopy software. Special, much of them use DeCSS. Its amazing!!!"
CNet used to have Linux software but removed it and now this, what's up with CNet? - Misos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sweet. I need something to shrink DVDs in *nix. If I get that, I may convert.
- sleepless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.mininova.org/search/?search=machinist.dll
- Th3_anOmoLy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, I probably won't uninstall dvdshrink, but one can never have too many resources. I'll check it out.
- tdkyo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At least it's opensource!
- BadMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The only problem is finding the infamous "machinist.dll" file that allows DeCSS. So far no luck... anybody else find it?
- shortkidd1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0by George i think I've found machinist.dll have u guys looked in

- samgab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, now that I finally managed to get a copy of the damn "machinist.dll" from Mininova, (big ups to sleepless in seattle for that) and ShrinkTo5 is working just fine. Cheers! But you gotta get that machinist file. So I'll be seeding it for as long as possible on that mininova link place.
- vdub12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just tried shrinking TitanAE. It was the first DVD I grabbed and this program could not shrink it. I guess I will wait until they make a working version.
- brocken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool sleepless
- hackmeister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lxdvdrip does a nice job of ripping, shrinking and burning DVDs in Linux:
http://developer.berlios.de/projects/lxdvdrip/
It is command line only if you can deal with it - exkinkos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0take a look at the product forums for this product... until the "machinst.dll" file is made available, this product won't/can't peform the dvd decryption.
- zarufa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My bad...nm.
- zarufa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sleepless, your zip has a password? Did I miss it somewhere?
- papercrane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sleepless awesome use of base64 :)
- mdpauley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sleepless, thats awsome... works perfect thanks!

- guhappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://rapidshare.de/files/4540468/Machinist.dll.html
- BxBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love DVDShrink, but I'll definately try this.
- danfitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You have to read the English on their website.
"But why they decline? Special if you take a look into their listing, where they list very much DVDCopy software. Special, much of them use DeCSS. Its amazing!!!" - shaft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ya no seeders though :(
- dyefade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This looks exciting. If it can replace Decrypter/Shrink, this is it.
- chrism1128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is is me or is the interface completely messed up? I can't read any of the labels or even see the fields and buttons correctly.
- jrlambs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK, it finished the copy while I was at lunch, I can't speak for video quality case I haevn't bunrt or watched the DVD on a nice TV yet.
1) DEcss worked just fine with the dll
2) Copied "Monster In Law" to a directory in about 35 minutes
3) Drag-and-drop of the folder into PowerDVD started playing the DVD... so I would assume it will play on a DVD player just fine.
4) attempted to open the shrunk DVD in DVDShrink and got an error immediately "Invalid Data In File 'VIDEO_TS.VOB'
The program is still free, you jut have to manually add the video_TS folder to a Video DVD in another burning application, like nero. One thing I noticed is that it's default shring-to size is smaller than a dvd by a couple hundred megabytes... why for? I don't have a clue. Anyway.. I'll burn when I get home and see how the quality is.. mmay try telling it to shrink to the full capacity of the DVD first though :)
-Jeff - BaKeDbEaN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This one works on mininova for Machinist.dll http://www.mininova.org/tor/101154
- zarufa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Decode file and save as zip. Extract the dll out of the zip and put it in the location.
- redzombi2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"text tile", oops - text file
- redzombi2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ zarufa - Thanks for your reply, I do understand how this is supposed to work, I just need a syntax lesson to use in the cmd prompt, so that I can decode, and does the source for decoding need to have a specific file extension, or can i just tell it to decode from "textfile.txt"?
Thanks for your help! :) - jrlambs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Upon Trying to run the shrink on it again I Remembered that this movie has both Full Screen and Widescreen on the same disc, there no way that I can see to remove just one or the other it bundles them together into one big category.
- sleepless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0base64 -i -o -d
- redzombi2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It still annoys me though, that I was not able to do it with the base64.exe I downloaded from the link that sleepless provided, so can some one please give me a little sntax lesson, just for this file? because I swear I tried everything from the website that sleepless posted!
Thanks. ;) - redzombi2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK neverminde I rememberd what you said in your previous post before it was removed.
Thanks! - redzombi2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, I found an online decoder for base64, but now I need a password to extract the dll?
- redzombi2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK, I'm new to dbase64, I copied all of that code that sleepless posted, saved it to a text file, downloaded the debase64.exe, put the text tile and the EXE in the same directory, and tried a few different commands but I so far have gotten nothing.
Anyone wanna point this debase64 Noob in the right direction? Please. - Hypnos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It stinks. I tried it and you have to be a supporter, make a donation to get the cd/dvd writer plugin. You can't burn any DVDs without the plugin. In otherwords its not free like DVDshrink.
- loganda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I found "machinist.dll" here http://www.riphelp.com/downloads/shrinkto5.html It is a easy download.
- davidp93, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0FoxBurnerU.dll --you need this too?
- davidp93, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have the file "Machinist.dll" where do I put it? I tried to put it in the same directory with the program, but it doesn't seem to work
- Zerocool82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just love OSS. When you think it can't do something. You fall for it again.
- opticsnake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey! Better yet, digg this
http://digg.com/software/Download_machinist.dll_file_for_Shrinkto5_here_
So that everyone else can find out easily where to get the machinist.dll
(OK, so that's blatant self-promotion...sue me) - sawnoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think Dvdshrink will still be my "shrinker of choice".
If anyone here does'nt have it,get it here
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/ - sleepless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0base64 -i input_file -o output file -d
- TheGooseyOne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i doubt the quality of a program where the front page of its website has the word "coming" spelled wrong...
- CaTTeN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey guys... this one i good to http://www.ratdvd.dk/ is god to for DVD ripping
- bubba5250, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried it on a dual layered disk and was not happy with the image quality.
I find the UI too simple with not enough control and adjustment for ripping thr DVD.
I'll stick with DVD Decrypter. - shaft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone have the cd/dvd burning plugin?
