- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+60For all you people who say "40 diggs and homepage WTF?"
This story has 20 diggs, and that page has 5000 views. - Sblader5, on 10/12/2007, -8/+57holy *****, a page with the statistics of visitors!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+51"After I'm done collecting stats, I'll make a more in depth report, including country stats and pretty graphs."
Pretty graphs *heart* - J3yrad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+47By receiving my digg, he is obligated to provide sexy pie charts.
- anthonyb415, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30This website is just a refresh war - who will win? Windows or Mac?
Digg. F5, F5, F5 - Fantasmadork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Yeah, press "Refresh" a few times and watch your Operating system catagory go up! yay!
- G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28This is gunna be so inaccurate...
Everybody is constantly refreshing...everytime we do that the site gets more hits... - Heembo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27More mac users than you expected? On digg the mac fanboy galore site? Are you new here?
- phatvolvo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20reloadEvery, dude
- Yazoo, on 10/12/2007, -23/+42Wow, many more mac users so far than what i expected!
This also shows that firefox is the way to go!! - herrshuster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18netscape as a browser died...now god kills a kitten every time you mention the name of that hideous website
- NightRush, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Forget F5...
CMD+R, CMD+R, CMD+R!!! - tw0bit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Im curious as to why there are only 40 people with "other" browsers and yet SOO many mac users...no ones using safari?
- SniperX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Exactly, more mac users than you though? Where have you been? That seems about right to me.
I'm actually somewhat proud (too geeky?) of the OS diversity of the users on digg :) And the firefox adoption is great among the technology gifted. - dewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11um...its not tracking digg.com, and it is tracking that guy's page, which is on his server.
- a3r0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Someone must have busted out the ol' scripts...
- earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7not to mention all the people refreshing to check the stats. this page will get hit far worse than a normal digg story that only gets loaded once a user
- Phatt138, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Sniper - I agree. It's nice to see some variation in the OS category; good to know that Digg really does have all types. Even 500+ 'Other's.
I am, however, horribly disapointed at the amount of people using IE - but at least the majority are using IE7. The 'net's a (slightly) safer place thanks to those folks...though they could do better. Cough.
--------
Also keep in mind that all Mac users are no more 'fanboys' than all Windows users are 'out of touch' or all Linux users are '1337.' - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yea,many times i lose the ability to type in firefox. I hate th
- workingnonstop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@ phatvolvo
Reloadevery and about 15 tabs... :P - Paktu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Average hits per second seems to be *****...it was at 0.06 as of 10:43 CST yet you could see the site getting 20 hits per second by watching the total hits.
- adragons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5There are that many mac users, and on a regular website, that ratio would be lower, but mac fans seem to congregate all over digg. Its a natural phenomenon that baffles many a scientist.
- tomi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Okay, how many of you are using reloadEvery? Admit it!
- swilly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Completely inaccurate - one ip per vote would have been ideal
"while :; do wget -O /dev/null http://fvvw.com/digg/ ; done" - if you have enough bandwidth and run several threads, you can get several hundred votes for your os every second. - NGNR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The same is true for the browser...at least i noticed Opera go up after refreshing a few times.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5then this is completely useless :)
- a0me, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I use Camino on my Mac but identify as Firefox as many websites
I go to won't recognize Camino. I guess I'm not alone. - glasgowm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4^ The Total hits & Avg. are inaccurate.
The total hits is at 18k - akira117, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4lol people are just refreshing the page.....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5IE6: 13563
*pukes* - RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is it every two weeks that one of these pages get to the front page, or every three weeks?
- alantocheri, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Hard to believe that out of the all the mac users (2450 at time of posting) that there are only 29 "Other" browsers, 227 using Opera... which could be pc or mac and over 4k on Firefox.
Did nearly all the mac users on digg ditch Safari? - joshikus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Surprised to not see more Safari views in there considering how many ppl are on OSX.
Firefox is ass on mac imo - khag7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4at 7,000 hits there were 10 linux users
at 10,000 hits there were 450 linux users
that doesnt seem right - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+360,000 hits? Seriously?
This isn't accurate.. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I run a large porn site, and have effectively posted the URL to a few related digg posts about porn (usually getting dugg up, surprisingly) and it usually sends, oh, about 200 uniques. Also we know porn stuff gets a lot of views on here, so I think the effect is somewhat underwhelming, although I think some things like "Beautiful Photos Of" digg posts get quite a bit more response. Anyways I won't post my site again, if you're interested it's in my profile.
Hey actually, my profile has 1239 views at this time, you can judge by that. :) - earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3its too bad safari seems to be grouped with Firefox
- grendelboogie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Thanks for adding value.
- DrDabbles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4No, there are NOT that many mac users. On this site, Mac is probably closer to 25%...but nowhere NEAR 1:1 with Windows. That's like giving Linux a 20% share on Digg...and you wouldn't want to concede that, would you? (Masks his Ubuntu ID in Firefox)
- glasgowm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The statistics reset once they hit around 12k... (something to do with maximum ASCII values?) - dunno.
once they hit 12k again they go back to normal though - hypercrypt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The starts are a bit odd, Total Hits So Far is lower than IE7? Okay Firefox is top, can be expected on Digg - great browser, but Other is VERY low, would mean that only about 1% of Mac users are using Safari?
- lippe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3He is using the wrong storage type for his numbers it seems. They reset after what appears to be the length of an int value.
- glasgowm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Haha, looks like we crashed it or something. the Total hits went down from 15k to 0
- krispyrob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Operating System Hits
Windows: 181619
Mac: 235128
Linux: 95798
Other: 88109
No wonder there are so many Apple stories on Digg!
P.S. I'm a Mac user. - seamonkeys1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think he needs to redo this website and have one Ip address as one vote!
I went to it one time it said 21,000 firefox then after about two mins it was only at 540. Think he has some problems with his system, but I would like to see this site again working better and giving more info. - HMTKSteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My corp net blocks this as a proxy.
I have an entry on my site where I embedded sitemeter as an iframe to allow visitors to see the usage stats on my site. - mixrecords, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It looks like the total hits counter (others as well most likely) resets back to zero once it gets near 100k.
Noticed this while spamming F5 to watch the pretty numbers increase.... god I need to go to bed... - Jamie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That mac number is crazy
- braclayrab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"So long as my server doesn't die, this page will monitor various stats on digg users and digg traffic in real-time"
Translation
"Please DOS attack my server" - harvinator24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I decided to to refresh the page a few times within a few seconds. find it funny that at 5:40 in the morning all there are on digg are mac and windows users, using firefox.
