- TonyStark, on 11/09/2007, -1/+18Opera is the best - mini works great on my Blackberry
- worbd, on 11/08/2007, -0/+14Cut off?
Here's the real one:
http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/differences-bet ... - philry4n, on 11/08/2007, -0/+14Opera Link is Awesome
- Buzzby, on 11/09/2007, -0/+13Works well on my Blackberry!
- extratired, on 11/08/2007, -0/+11imo the best browser for symbian devices like my nokia E65.
- lordtyros, on 11/08/2007, -2/+13Firefox has more bugs, slowdown, and crashes to offer.
- Ghazi, on 11/08/2007, -1/+12If you have a blackberry you need this. I love it!
- Metoz, on 11/08/2007, -0/+11The link is such an awesome feature. Now I don't have to type ***** long addresses again on the mobile.
- Archon810, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9I've had it installed on my Samsung A900 since early v3. If you have A900, you need this.
- potterboy, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9Bring on the new Opera Mobile!
- potterboy, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9Opera Mini= java, Opera Mobile= full fledged Windows Mobile app
- movieman200x, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9Works wonderfully on my Blackjack. So glad there is something better than IE for the handsets.
- danielg, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9Hi, I'm from Opera. I could assure you that we absolutely don't sell or give over any browsing or personal information.
Daniel - keyme, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9Perfect on my RAZR v3x. Hands down the best application you can get on this handset.
- Bridea, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9Works great on the Blackjack. Overview mode is the best, I really love the new Opera Mini. Faster than Opera Mobile, faster than PIE!
- danielg, on 11/08/2007, -0/+8Here are some Opera Mini resources for Web developers and designers:
http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/opera-mini-4-is ... - ikotsu, on 11/08/2007, -0/+8I love Opera Mini so very much.
I've been using this browser since I started using mobile phones, on my Motorola V551. It's been the best mobile browser that I've found so far ( the only, actually.. ). I'm interested to see if Mozilla is going to be able to compete with such a concrete product. - Yogitw, on 11/08/2007, -1/+9This version is free, the windows version is free, why is the mobile version (ie smartphones) not free? That makes me sad :(
- etx313, on 11/08/2007, -0/+8LOVE this app. Just got Beta 3 on my Helio Ocean last night and it seriously makes the data connection on my phone worth having. Great job Opera team!
- cipher64, on 11/08/2007, -4/+11Opera mini on digg...Opera has arrived. Guess mini is doing for Opera what iPod did for Apple. By the way love the browser it's faster and better than any other for mobile.
- skrowl, on 11/08/2007, -0/+7IMPORTANT NOTE: Verizon users need not apply. Like other 3rd party apps, Verizon dumbphones (not Windows Mobile or Blackberry) are locked out by big V.
- potterboy, on 11/08/2007, -0/+7Exactly. Funny thing is, I have never paid for it. It seems to hang around with PPC and Warez and the organization.
- Archon810, on 11/08/2007, -0/+7it will work on anything with j2me support.
- andrew15, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6Will this work on my Treo 700p?
- 04TL, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6works great on the Nokia 6233 as well...
- aurrea, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6Why does this one work better than the smartphone version that costs $$$??
I just tried it on an HTC 8525 and it works much better and faster than the Mobile Version. I'm confused....
Also what's the difference between "High" and "Low" memory version?? - muzzymate, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6Works very fast on my Palm Centro even with pTunes playing music in the background. Much faster than Blazer...
- twblock, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6I just installed it on my Pearl... Opera Mini puts the Blackberry browser to shame.
- nirav72, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6Wow..this thing is fast. I just installed 4.0 on my WM6 phone. Much better than the piece of ***** and slow PocketIE browser that my phone comes with.
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6Helps me digg when I am out for lunch.
- cfleap, on 11/08/2007, -0/+5Opera Mini is fantastic...lets just hope the proxy speeds up!!!!
- pnrl, on 11/09/2007, -0/+5Wii uses 9.5 AKA Kestrel. The same engine that powers Opera Mini servers and is in beta for desktop.
- daiwai, on 11/08/2007, -0/+4The difference is basically, that Opera Mini gets a specially formatted and compressed version of the web page you requested from an Opera server. Opera Mobile on the other hand works with the page directly without the intermediary Opera server.
- Arlop, on 11/08/2007, -0/+4It works really well on my Att Tilt
- spectre_25gt, on 11/08/2007, -0/+4Definitely better than 3.x. It feels like this version is actually suited to being used on a blackberry. I still don't understand why I have to enter a separate screen to type data into forms, though.
- spectre_25gt, on 11/09/2007, -0/+4Which version of Opera is the Wii's browser based on? Maybe we'll see a new firmware soon?
- Ukonu, on 11/08/2007, -0/+3I used to have the same problems. Now it runs flawlessly on my Palm Treo 680. This is what I did:
1) You've probably already completed this step but I'll mention it for completeness. Download Java from the Palm website (http://www.palm.com/us/support/jvm/download.html), install it, then reboot.
2) Go to the "Prefs" application.
3) Under the "Other" category select "IBM Java VM"
4) Make sure you're in the "Global preferences" category. Then make sure "Use Double Buffering" and "Use high resolution coordinates" are both selected.
5) Set Memory Maximum: 8MB
6) Set Maximum Java Thread Stack Size: 32Kb
After I made those changes in "Prefs" the crashes stopped for me. Try going higher on the "Set Memory Maximum" setting if the crashing persists. - realwx, on 11/08/2007, -0/+3I like it, but I have a Palm T|X. If I try and adjust so that the keyboard on the bottom disappears, Opera Mini will show an error saying "Throwable: Unable to create bitmap." Looks like they haven't fixed a Palm yet...
- Bridea, on 11/08/2007, -2/+5Installing now... hope to have first impressions soon!
- palmdoc, on 11/08/2007, -0/+3Works very well on my Treo 680. Thank you Opera!
- FaT32, on 11/08/2007, -4/+7Differences between Opera Mini 3 and 4:
http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/differences-bet ... - warlord, on 11/08/2007, -1/+3Lets hope there is no more vanishing feeds in this release
- MicroBerto, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2Agreed. RIMM needs to get together with Opera and provide it by default. BlackBerry browser is a joke, Opera 4 is incredible.
- betteroffalone, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2will this work on Treo 700wx? Running windows mobile 5?
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2Agreed
- jmehl, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2The last beta worked alright on my palm lifedrive. I do find the interface more cumbersome and less customizable than Blazer but its faster, smoother and iphone-like. But the lifedrive (read: microdrive) has a 2 min reboot. If opera is not stable its not worth the extra speed over blazer...
- Solrac924, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2The Opera Desktop Browser is free because of the 2 yr Google deal to make it the default search engine. Opera Mini has the deal with Yahoo. Ever notice you can't delete that search? Opera Mobile has various versions depending on your phone/phone's OS, has no default search thus no such deal. Unlike Opera Mini, Opera Mobile is not proxied. Opera Mini is worth it's way in gold!
- spectre_25gt, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2So it's a Java limitation? Interesting.
- GvnMcCld, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2It crashed bad on my Treo as well, but this version so far seems very stable.
