- danielg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16For those of you who don't have a mobile phone with internet access, here is a neat Opera Mini 3.0 simulator: http://www.operamini.com/features/simulator/
Also, I've compiled a list of video demos of the new Opera Mini 3.0 (sorry for the spamming here): http://operawatch.com/news/2006/11/video-demos-of-opera-mini-30-in-action.html - ramunas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16This app rocks, a must have for everybody. :)
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Likewise, beware that T-Mobile mods their phones to block network access to non-signed (by them) Java apps.
At least, that's the case with the Samsungs. - geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9This is the future if we don't have net neutrality.
- mattcoxonline, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Mmm, its nice. Loving the 'feeds' bit. I only wish I could set it as my default browser on my phone.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I hate Verizon and BREW.
- colinm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6More Java apps for your phone:
GMail: http://gmail.com/app [from your mobile]
Google Maps: http://www.google.com/gmm
MGMaps: http://www.mgmaps.com/ - mizunoX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5For Bell users- download the midlet from Opera, then upload it here:
http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/index.php
You'll be given a link and jump code to download it to your phone.
The only trouble is that Bell have locked down many of their phones so that only applications provided by Bell can access the internet. Opera works, but it will ask for access to the internet before going to each page. - Tumbleweed, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6FYI- This version hasn't been optimized for Palm yet. Crashes constantly on Treo 650. YMMV, though.
See post (Tuesday, 28. November 2006, 13:27:42) from Opera on http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=168115 - heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Nice. I love digging while on the *****. Especially with Digg Mobile.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4lovely, RSS feeds works perfectly.
with this, gmail for mobile, agile messenger for google talk I'm fine - zugu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Guys, there are people who just found out about the greatness of Opera Mini just by reading this digg submission.
This is a good opportunity to tell everyone here what other cool Java apps you use on your mobile device :) So please do! - janit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4There's a lot to love :) It's come a long way from 1.0... J2ME with a little help from our friends (the proxies ;)) can do awesome stuff. No competition here.
- pinsomniac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Why not?
http://digg.com/software/Run_Opera_from_a_USB_Key - FaT32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3New Opera Poland office will develop Opera Mobile and Mini for BREW platform. So, wait... http://operawatch.com/news/2006/11/opera-opens-new-poland-office-to-work-on-browser-for-verizon-customers.html
- ocellnuri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Why would you when you have a full-featured, quicker software client?
We should just use whatever solution works best for us individually. Thankfully, we are finally getting options. - iheartbeer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@ ahawks
I just got a RAZR from t-mobile with the same problem. Is there any way around this? Do I have to hack my phone to get it to work properly? - kirregutt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I love the new content folding feature. :-)
- mizunoX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Bell Mobility (in Canada) is blocking the download... as usual.
- ocellnuri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Thanks for the heads up. I was just about to load it up on my Treo 650, and your post and link saved me a huge headache. Hopefully they'll get things optimized for the Palm soon. I couldn't live without OperaMini 2 on my Treo.
- ramunas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If your device can handle them , then so does Opera Mini, it uses phone's fonts.
- Styleboost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This Java-Opera Mini 3.0 works so much better than the built in Opera browser on mye M600i. The speed is amazing and the back button is snappier than ever.
- Pyroxene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks to Scotty588. My Treo was crashing too. v.2 worked really well even on some banking sites. However, only use it when absolutely needed because it doesn't create a secure connection.
- scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If anyone is interested I found v2.0 download links for us Treo users.
Low fi version for Treo 600 - http://mytreo.net/files/operette-lofi.prc
Hi fi for Treo 650 and others - http://mytreo.net/files/operette-hifi.prc - Benad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks! As a Bell user, Opera is much better than the ***** built-in browser. And the phone asks to confirm the connection only on the first page load until you exit Opera, so it's not too annoying.
- jshabad00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2grumble. google calendar (html page or otherwise) still looks like crap.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool, thanks!
http://addons.wordpress.com/ - wrc_michael, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Crashes the heck out of my Treo 650 too. Hopefully they get it fixed quickly.
- ispshadow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3F*K Verizon, my number is porting to Cingular as we speak. My nipples are getting stiff knowing I just got 2 Cingular Sync A707 phones for 74.00 total, tax, activation fee and everything. I even got $25 off the total at checkout...
Go to Cingular Premier and see if your company has a discount.. mine is 700min, 7p.m N/W, with 200text block on 2 phones for 80.00.. 19% off.
Oh, and all phones are 39% off the price, accessories 10%...
Sweet.... - scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Loads on my Treo 600 but when i try to go to sites it sits there and then crashes to my program screen.
- MrJinx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just tried it on my Palm Lifedrive. Crashes every time a page tries to load. The previous version worked like a charm.
- paker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I may not like having to use a Brew phone that metroPCS uses, but I do enjoy unlimited local, long distance, test messages, picture messages, and Internet for $54.00 an month. I never did like having to count minutes.
- miken32, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Why can't it handle accented characters? Or is that just the simulator?
- FriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Would this work if I use a BlackBerry that does not have data connection? My service does allow web browsing though when the SIM card is in another phone.
- cbags, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Opera has always seemed really buggy on the Treo phones...the last one used to crash almost every time it loaded at some point. I saw the headline, wandered over while on a break...hadn't gotten to the part about it not being ready for Palm....guess what, I knew that it wasn't by the time I got to my desk, 3 reboots in the walk back.
- geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Why not use gmail's existing mobile-specific interface?
http://m.gmail.com - heavyal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I notice someone remarked that its unstable on the Palm Treo .. I wonder if it can be hacked together to work on the LifeDrive .. I used v2 on the LifeDrive for a while but it wasn't very stable.
- scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1*****, anyone have a download link to Opera Mini 2? i can't find it.
- javiel, on 07/08/2008, -10/+1By mini i thought USB/U3 portable. =[
- nicheplayer, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1I'll wait for my iPhone running Safari.
